Had to have all of my old hardwood floors tore out. The guys had them all tore out and back down in one day. I needed to replace a few floor joist before they started installing the new floor but they gave me plenty of time to do it and even helped. Great job, very happy with our new floors they look great. I am very pleased with the work done on our floors. I especially like that they replaced the one inch board closest to the floor. it looks so clean. Phil took the time to help me choose the right stain by sanding patches on the floor and staining them so that i could see how it would look. they took care of everything and made the process easy for us. we are very happy with the results. more

The owner Phil is a great guy. He really wanted to make us happy! We got exactly what we wanted as far as color and finish. Our floors were sanded completely and stained a beautiful dark walnut with a semi-gloss finish. I was going to attempt to do the 1100 sf myself but after seeing what was needed to sand the pre-finished floors I am so glad I used the Hardwood Giant for this project. We have nothing but good feedback about The Hardwood Giant. We hired them to install hardwood floors in three of our bedrooms and then restain all our existing floors to match. They do meticulous work. His prices were fair, they showed up on time, communicated throughout the project - true professionals. We would recommend them to anyone. The owner of the company Phil Gilbert was on site each day and gave me updates daily on our project. We met with 4 flooring companies during our selection process and Phil was simply at a different level in professionalism, knowledge, credibility & was upfront that he was not in the lowest price business. I never felt like I was being sold to during the entire consultation. They are proof that there are still good contractors that put the customer first. more

After researching many companies using Angies List I contacted Phil Gilbert, owner of The HardWood Giant. Although he did not yet have a review on Angies List, he had a number of very positive testimonials on his web site. I also like the fact that his website had alot of consumer friendly information on it with regard to the different flooring choices that were available. I called Phil and set up a time for us to meet. He was prompt and very professional. He took the time to understand what I was looking to do with my areas and we discussed several options. I wanted to delineate the walkway area between the Entry/Dining area and the Family Room by running those boards perpendicular and outlining the area with a contrasting border. Phil explained that he would need to use wider boards for that area due to the direction of the floor joists and then talked me through what my border options would be if I chose to do that. After we had settled on what I wanted, Phil walked me thru the entire process from start to finish so I would know what to expect and told me he would have an estimate to me by the next day. I actually got the estimate that evening at 8:30pm. I had asked him to break the estimate for the closets out separately, which he did. I was so pleased with the price, that not only did I have the closets included but I sent him the dimensions for my sunroom and had that added onto the estimate. Everything went exactly as planned and the work that they performed far exceeded my expectations. The crew was quick and professional and they left the place spotless. When they came back to reset the furniture, they put felt pads on all of the surfaces that touched the floors. After completion of the job, Phil even provided me with a Bona Hardwood Floor mop kit. I would highly recommend Phil and his crew for any refinishing or new installation job. It was truly a pleasure doing business with him. more
