Best

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

Worst

I recently went to the spa for the second time. The pool area and Roman bathing ritual are wonderful, although the steam room is too hot. I got a facial and body treatment each ...

Great Hotel BUT... 2/7/2011

Heritage rooms are small, but overall the facility is very nice. 8/4/2008

I echo many of positive comments in the last two reviews. Additianlly, My Heritage room was very small and I expected morefor $400/night. Te bathroom was spacious and attractive - big/ tall shower and large vanity area. The Big 3 Diner was the best restaurant in the hotel - cozy diner charm. the Big 3 breakfast menu was good, and the apple pancakes were the best. The complimentary wine tasting each evening was a nice way to meet and plan dinner/cocktails in Downtown Sonoma Square. Parking is free and close to the hotel. Pros: very nice facility Cons: loud parking lot party's more

One complaint- A wedding reception party was hosted in a large parking lot tent errected for the event. They played the normal dance / DJ songs for the reception. The event was loud and went very late. It looked like a great party, but everyone in the hotel endured the 4 hour party event when they were not invited. You could not get waway form the noise. I feel like the Hotel should have warned us. Pros: very nice facility Cons: loud parking lot party's more

Spa Review - nice place, nice people, but Bad Facial 10/29/2006

I recently went to the spa for the second time. The pool area and Roman bathing ritual are wonderful, although the steam room is too hot. I got a facial and body treatment each time. The massage was excellent, but I've also had equivalent quality massages for cheaper. I got an exfoliating Kur and my skin broke out in a rash that evening (very unusual, since I don't have sensitive skin). Both times, the facial was just awful. Don't get me wrong, the staff are all very nice and courteous, but they don't seem to be able to read my skin type very well. I ended up with a rash and lots of flaky skin on my chin. For that kind of money, I expect that they should know what they are doing! Pros: ambiance, service, great snacks and drinks! Cons: bad facials more

Since Sonoma Mission Inn is one of the more expensive spas in the area, I would really just save your money and go elsewhere. The surroundings at Sonoma may be tranquil and aesthetically-pleasing, but what's the point if you are all worked up and your skin is aesthetically scary??? Pros: ambiance, service, great snacks and drinks! Cons: bad facials more

Simply perfect! 6/21/2006

This hotel was just lovely. There is nothing pretentious abuot this property or it's staff yet it is a luxury hotel with FABULOUS and reasonably priced amenities. The room had a small fireplace with two logs which the hotel would replace everyday. The mini-bar was stocked with very edible items (fresh trail mix, granola bars, soy crisps, water crackers, hard cheese) and the bathroom was spacious and attractive. The Big 3 Diner was the best "hotel" restaurant I have ever been to in my life with fresh veggie wraps, salads and a nice little local wine list. Order the lemon and cottage cheese pancakes. The complimentary wine tasting each evening was a nice way to meet and plan dinner/cocktails in Downtown Sonoma Square. The spa was also not to be missed, they have a nice mineral bath ritual. We booked through American Express Platinum card services and got free breakfast each day, a late checkout of 4pm, one free lunch and a room upgrade. Parking is free and close to the hotel. Also minutes from Sonoma wineries and 25 minutes from Napa Valley. Roads are really simple to navigate. We will definitely return to this hotel. Pros: Service was excellent. Cons: None worth mentioning more

Our Best Valentine's Weekend Yet! 2/27/2005

We booked a King room ""Rejuvenation Package"" in the newer ""wine country"" buildings (glad we didn't do the older ""heritage"" rooms.) Our room had a 4-poster bed, jacuzzi, fireplace, complimentary wine, red roses on our pillows. This was one of the most beautiful rooms we've stayed in. Our package included spa treatments. There's a co-ed water treatment room with tubs, sauna/steam you can use before/after spa services. If you take advantage of the amenities, it increases the value. We loved the first day so much that we booked extra spa treatments for the next morning. LOVED the Vanilla Float: a body scrub, vanilla-scented body wrap, followed by a vanilla smoothie in front of the fireplace when you're done. Heavenly! We didn't eat at the restaurant (french doesn't appeal to us) so we did room service which was great. If you want a lazy, pampered, indulgent, romantic weekend--this is it! Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Pampering Cons: Expensive more

very mediocre 6/16/2003

being a spa afficianado-this was overpriced-understaffed-crowded and very mediocre. i don't mind paying for a great massage/facial package but it was all OK..just OK. Nothing memorable at all! more

Almost Perfect Stay 2/18/2003

Too bad it was Valentine's weekend... the room service was rushed and restaurant served the same menu ALL weekend (tough for us staying there, esp. since we didn't know in advance!) But the staff was so solicitous we almost forgot, and the luscious breakfasts, spa and in-room fireplace and jacuzzi melted my cares away. Pros: spa facilities, hotel staff, breakfast Cons: expense, limited dining choice more

Lost Its' Charm 12/29/2002

With the acquisition by the Crescent Group, this once charming hotel has been dismantled into your slightly better than average business hotel. All of the personal attention has been stripped away. The rooms are average. The food is average. In fact, it feels as if the true management team guiding SMI these days are the Crescent corporate accountants. PS: The Fairmont Hotels folks are now in charge, however, when we stayed last week we couldnt see the difference. Pros: Spa, Room Service, Wine Country Location Cons: Tired Decor, Slow Service more

Puurrrfict 11/19/2002

Everything you think a spa should be. Awesome surroundings and a convenient location. more

Not very savvy about business! 11/19/2002

I am dissapointed that you cannot make use of the Spa facilities unless you are a guest of the Hotel! I live locally and did not need to stay overnight, but merely wanted to surprise my Wife with a birthday gift of a days pampering at the Spa. I called the reservations number and was informed that you MUST be staying at the Inn before you can book anytime at the Spa. None of this is stated on the Website, and I am certainly not recommending the Sonoma Inn to any out of town guests, or do I intend to use the facility for Golfing events in the future. Not only is this inconvenient but dare I use the phrase ""rip off"". more

Heaven in Pink 10/23/2002

Having spent a long and relaxing weekend in Calistoga previous to our visit to the Sonoma Mission Inn, I was still impressed with the Inn and it's environment - the wonderful grounds, the bar and restaurant, and the spa. We were upgraded to a suite and indulged in the Rose Petal package (a spa tub for two with wine & rose petals followed by a his & her side-by-side massage) to make the weekend truly unforgetable. I would encourage everyone to experience this bit of ""heaven in pink."" Pros: Wonderful service, Relaxing, Perfect! more

Beautiful Get Away. 9/29/2002

This is wonderful. A very pleasant, lovely place to relax and enjoy. Lovely grounds and gardens, pretty spa. Well situated for touring wine country. Quiet and very peaceful. Stayed several times. First room was small in the historic building, but another trip we got a large and comfortable room. Spa products are incredible and worth the trip on their own. Gym is nice to use. Restaurant on grounds is expensive, although restaurant a few steps away off the spa grounds is delicious with wonderful mix of foods and wines. A lovely getaway. My teenager relaxed and enjoyed too. Pros: Beautiful, Quiet, Peaceful Cons: expensive more
