Excellent Breakfast Bar!!! 5/25/2009

My family and I have been going to the Dunes Restaurant for at least ten years. They have completely remodeled the Restaurant and it is beautiful! I didn't think it needed to be remodeled but WOW!!!!! Their breakfast buffet is one of the best on the entire Outer Banks and a local favorite. The service is wonderful and all of the wait staff are friendly and attentive. My absolute favorite is Debbie who has been there for many many years. I try to get one of her tables everytime I go there. She is an excellent waitress and very experienced and informative. Give this restaurant a try....you wont be disappointed! Pros: Great service and selection Cons: Too many choices more

New and Improved!!! 5/7/2009

Hi everyone! Thank you for taking the time to check out all of the reviews on the Dunes Restaurant!!! My name is Joshua Jones and I am going to be a server with the Dunes this summer! I just wanted to let everyone know that the Dunes Restaurant has been completely remodeled, from the decor right down to the menu! We still have the same great favorites such as our breakfast bar, southern fried chicken, and our delicious crab cakes, but our new resident chef, Chef Matt Arnold, has added some new future favorites such as his pan seared scallops, bourbon molasses marinated flatiron steak, and shrimp n' grits. We even offer vegetarian friendly entrees such as pasta primavera and blacked-eyed pea cakes. more

Great Food! 9/24/2005

They don't take reservations, but we called ahead. Our table was ready when we got there. The food was great. It was nothing fancy, but great food and service. I got the fried seafood platter, and they bring a basket of hushpuppies to your table. more

We visited Dunes over the labor day holiday...and really enjoyed it! The prime rib was great...and they had the BEST hush puppies I'd ever tasted. My friend got the fried chicken plate. There was so much she couldnt even eat it all. I'm very picky about service, and our waiter was the best! He didn't overdo it...but made sure we were comfy...and our glasses were always full! It's an average, family type place. Nothing fancy...not really cozy or romantic, but nice. They had cool decor on the walls...and it was all for sale. I thought the salad bar could have been a little better. But besides that, it was really great :) Pros: Friendly Service, Affordable Cons: Small Salad Bar more
