Nice 7/8/2011

Okay, My husband and I just returned from a 5 day trip with another couple. We stayed from July 2nd-7th. This was a great location as the hotel sits right across from Grant Park. I booked this hotel based on location as the Chicago food festival was being held at Grant Park and we had originaly planned to see U2 perform at Soldier Field. The hotel is a easy and safe walking distance from Soldier Field. You can easily walk the Musuem Campus ( Field, Shedd) from the hotel. It is also a easy walk to The Art Institute and Millenium Park. The Chicago Trolley Hop On/Hop Off tour bus stop is close to the hotel. You can pick it up in Front of the Hilton or Millinium Park. Okay, First the hotel is old, it was built in the early 1900""s........so if some chipping paint (honestly how many times do you think it has been painted) and antique furniture is not your thing....well the Hitlon is next door. The bathroom was modern and we had a towel rack, but we noticed our friends did not in their room. The also had a walk in closet and we did not. Our room was very spacious with high ceilings. It was very clean......no odors at all. Very Clean. We had plenty of room in the closet and the dresser to store our clothes. Lots of room to walk around. It was not cramped at all. We had no problem staying here. The door was old......reminded me of my Grandmothers house. I found it charming as did the other couple traveling with us. They had no complaints about their room. The hallway was quiet, so noise except for occasional city noise, which the A/C drowned out. Room service responded promptly when we called down for extra pillows. The Iron was broken, but we just borrowed the one from our friends. We loved the view of Grant Park, and the Shedd Aquarium. The hotel had a restuarant but we did not eat there, but did have a drink in the bar. It was quiet crowded in the bar. There is a Dunkin Donuts and a Corner Bakery down the street, along with some other eateries more

We love staying there. 6/30/2011

Mike, the waiter, was great. We also liked gus, our bartender later. Great view! We love staying there. All the details in the old decorations are so cool. more

The most beautiful ballroom 6/16/2011

Location, location, location, the best in downtown. It had the look of old world charm. The staff went out of their way to assist me with any request, including printing my boarding passes. My room was upgraded, as I checked in late, to a King bed with four lush pillows. It does need a bit of paint here and there but overall I would highly recommend this hotel, and its affordability as compared to other downtown hotels. The most beautiful ballroom ever, if you care to practice your waltz or tango! more

Great Hotel 5/6/2011

I loved the feel of the hotel, it had a very classy feel. The old charm really shined thru, and I could feel it's elegence. I loved the location of the hotel, it is conviently located within walking distance to many attractions. more

Thanks ! 4/27/2011

the bell staff were nice and helped me with directions, and the flat screen and furnishings were updated in the hotel room. For the most part it was a good location for the cost and easy to access. Security was quick to my request about the room safe and it was easy to store my bags after checkout before I departed the city. more

Wonderful Building 4/26/2011

The history of the building and the architecture is awesome. The view overlooking Michigan and Lakeshore Drive - awesome. And the room was surprising quiet despite the traffic noise below. more

very helpful and accommodating with information 4/26/2011

Bed was comfortable; Room was very spacious, quiet and had an excellent view of Grant Park and the fountain across the street. Concierge staff very helpful and accommodating with information. Concierge team found me a limo transfer to the airport for roughly the same price I would have paid for the standard airport shuttle service. I would easily consider to stay here again. more

Enjoyed Everything 4/1/2011

We really enjoyed the Buckingham Fountain but would like more information in the hotel history. We enjoyed going around the lack to Old Meggs Field - wish it were still there. You are very friendly for enjoying the lake and park. The 'legs' exhibit was great - a little plaque to explain time of exhibit and artist would have been good to have. more

Thank You So Much ! 3/31/2011

Please thank the clerk. The breakfast at the restaurant was wonderful and so is the staff. more

Great Stay 3/30/2011

I liked the appeal of the hotel. The view of the lake was magnificent!!! more

Lovely Stay. 3/25/2011

I stayed at your hotel on November 28. I would just like to tell you that I had a pleasant stay, no complaints. Your lobby was beautiful. The staff were polite and helpful. The room was very nice. After reading some negative comments on expedia.com I was sort of worried about staying at your hotel, but as soon as I walked in I felt I had nothing to worry about. The hotel location was great. We walked everywhere, and I just wanted you to know that I would recommend your hotel to anyone. Have a nice holiday. more

Great Old Luxury Hotel 3/22/2011

Great old luxury hotel with large rooms and great views if you reserve a lake view room. (I upgraded when I got there.) It doesn't have the flash of the new, modern competitors, but instead the patina of old world elegance that reminds you of a different era, It's a great place to slow down the pace and walk to nearby Millenium park to enjoy music, sunshine, etc. Would have stayed again later in August but it's sold out!! more
