Swanky Setting, Delectable Dishes 6/19/2008

Everytime my parents come to visit my brother and I in Irvine, we end up going to the Clubhouse. It has a crowd pleasing menu with a variety of options to choose from- their Spinah Artichoke Dip and Garbage Salad are mighty tasty- and the swanky, stylish setting makes customers feel like they are getting the highest quality in service and in food. The prices are reasonable, although I would probably not go there if I had to pick up the check- you know being a poor college student and all- but it really is a great atmosphere for family get togethers. They have private rooms to accomodate big parties and what seems to be a pretty snazzy bar- if only I was old enough to drink at it. Defintely a great stop after a day of shopping at the upscale South Coast Plaza! Pros: Variety of tasty dishes, Lively atmosphere Cons: A wee bit pricey more

Worst Fish Taco's in the Western Hemisphere. 4/23/2008

We went for lunch recently and had fish tacos. The fish was tough and cold, and more importantly, a cheap variety similar to mackerel. It was not soft or flaky or buttery. They delivered three flour tortillas with a small portion of the cold hard fish in a white sauce, and piled some tomato and lettuce and NOTHING else. \r \r What's worse is that this $3-$5 value meal cost us $15.00!!! What a disgrace. They should either charge $5 for it, stop serving it, or make it right. \r \r Fish tacos are not rocket science people. The fish should be a tasty and soft/flaky variety dipped in batter and fried. Then, it should be topped with cabbage, lime, and a pepper or wasabi cream. more

No Happy Hour No early Bird Dinners Anymore 4/3/2008

I like the clubhouse. The bread is awesome & the salads & steak great!! For a while, they would give you a free bottle of wine on Tuesday nights as a special. I went in there yesterday at 5 PM & it was dead, 2 guys at the bar. It used to rock at Happy Hour. Now all they offer is a $2.00 drink discount on their $14 dollar martinis. They are missing me & all my So Coast girl friend shoppers. Come alive Clubhouse! Get back in the game. You have the perfect location for it. more

Dining Disaster 3/30/2008

This restaurant definitely did uphold to its motto, ""where you belong""! We had dinner tonight and the service was poor. Our waitress was barely seen and if she did come around it was brief and rude. It seemed like all she cared about was getting a good tip and that was the only reason she checked on us. It wasn't even busy. There was no excuse for the slow service except for the waitress' indifference toward her job. The busser was highly attentive and intuitive to our needs than our own waitress. The food although aesthetically pleasing did not live up to the price in regards to flavor. Claim Jumpers next door would be a better bet than this over priced so-called upscale restaurant. If you come here, you're paying for the ambiance. Pros: Ambiance, Parking, Furnishings Cons: Service, Food more

Great bar and nice people 9/27/2007

Went there for luch today. Sat at the bar with Joy the bartender. She was really nice and the atmoshpere was pretty cool. They had a lot of different beer, wine and other alcohol to choose from but i just stuck with beer. They have Blue Moon on tap!! Thats worth the trip there if nothing else. I ordered a Kobe burger which came out in a pretty timely manner but it was a little overcooked. i dont like to complain so i ate it anyway. it still tasted pretty good, but i think with a burger it doesnt matter if its Kobe. The fries were great because they still had the skin on and the werent to crisp and they werent too soggy. \r \r overall, i would say they place is good. nice people and pretty decent food. i will try it again and eat something else. the bar is really cool though. lots of seats and nice TVs. Pros: Service and Blue Moon on Tap Cons: Nothing Spectacular on the Menu more

As Good as Casual Dining Gets 8/31/2006

The Clubhouse's mantra is that it's a place ""Where you belong!"". The theme is that of a country club, but unlike most country clubs I've been to, this spot avoids all the ostentatious stiffness and pretentiousness of a normal clubhouse, and just makes you feel comfortable while serving excellent food. The occasion was a friend's birthday, and we managed to make it a little early. The first thing to note were the extremely comfortable chairs. You could probably sit here all day, maybe doze off. These chairs are one of the main reasons I was in a good mood most of the time. The first thing to order, off the bat, (if you feel so inclined) is the Calamari in Sweet Chili Sauce (not sure if this is the exact name). Lightly fried and crisp on the outside with a sauce to top any other in fried calamari, it's a great, seemingly light starter. My friend ordered the Meat Loaf and Mashed Potato sundae. As unappetizing a sundae as it may sound, it comes looking quite daunting but is wholly satisfying. Slices of meat loaf, bread, and mashed potatoes are stacked concurrently upon one another until reaching a ridiculous height. Everything seemed to be in working order, as the taste of the meat loaf was pretty standard. I was simply intrigued by the idea of stacking bread, meat loaf, and mashed potatoes on top of one another. I ordered the Prime Rib, which did not disappoint. A nice cut (although said to be inconsistent), it goes quite well with the au jus provided. A tad rich. For my friend's birthday, he received something in the league of a giant cream puff stuffed with vanilla bean ice cream. I forgot the name of the pastry, but it resembled that of a cream puff, just slightly chewier. The texture of the pastry (which they will sell to you as one of the best) did not impress me too much. The ice cream, on the other hand, was something for your taste buds to behold. In the end, it was an excellent experience. Give it a try. Pros: Decent Food, Casual Setting, Comfortable Seats Cons: In the crowded South Coast Plaza, Watch out for parking more

Fantastic Service 1/28/2006

We went there for my wife's birthday and it was great. Our server was Daniel and he was a rockstar. He did everything from a welcome plate of bananas for the kids to a birthday poem for my wife. The food was excellent, but the service is what will keep us going back. Pros: Good parking, Great Ambiance, Great Service Cons: Loud, Busy more

Great restaurant 11/6/2005

What a great place! The atmosphere is awesome. We have been there a couple times and the food and service are ALWAYS outstanding! Prime Rib- Delicious! Portions are all huge. The place is large with high ceilings, yet still appears intimate. A great place for dinner or drinks (we had both)! Pros: Great Atmosphere, Great Food, Great Service more

Great Place for lunch! 10/3/2005

I was having services at The Spa, and they recommended this as one of their partners. Great recommendation! The staff was friendly, courteous and prompt. Food was great. Pros: staff greets by name, food more
