Best

This hotel is a real find - I travel frequently for business and have rarely come across a hotel that has both style and exceptional service. The staff was knowledgable, friendly...

Worst

I booked this hotel through Travelocity and got double charged. Once from Travelocity on my business credit card and then again on my personal credit card. Neither company is easy...

Great hotel to stay at! 9/12/2010

My friends and I stayed at this hotel for one night to celebrate a birthday. The staff is friendly and helpful. We got to the room and couldn't figure out the a/c so someone came and helped us. We didn't get our robes promised to us but once I told them they quickly brought them to us. The beds are the most comfortable I've ever stayed in at a hotel and the blankets are soooo soft I was tempted to steal one haha. The only complaint about the room is that it was dimly lit and a little too dark to get ready in. I loved how you covered the window with a huge piece of art that slid on a rail, very unique and crafty! The pool was gorgeous, however we did not get a chance to swim in it. They have a restaurant there and you can eat outside by the pool. Its nice a nice feature but a little uncomfortable for those swimming if they don't wanna be watched by the people eating. The hot tub is huge! I wish we could have tried it out. They have a bar but I heard it was kind of pricey so we didn't go to it. They also have a lounge on the roof but they had no bartender up there that night so we would have had to buy our drinks downstairs and bring them up, but we just went to a bar nearby! There are many bars/restaurants to go to nearby so theres plenty to do! The area isn't too scary lol My friend and I walked around at like 3 in the morning and had no problems! We were really hungry after going to bars but couldn't find a fast food place to eat at so we asked the lady at the front desk if there was any food available for guests and she took us to a back room where they had a bunch of snacks (like chips, candy and soda) that they offered to guests for free! YUM! We were able to play our music and talk and laugh and have a great time with no complaints so all in all it was a good night and a great hotel to stay at. I would definitely recommend it and I would go again myself! more

If You Read and Believe Anything - Believe that Hotel Stinks 7/17/2008

I booked this hotel through Travelocity and got double charged. Once from Travelocity on my business credit card and then again on my personal credit card. Neither company is easy to work with to get a refund for the double charged amount. The hotel was ""cool"" but dirty, in a low-income neighborhood, and nothing worked properly. All the air-conditioners in the rooms were broke (which is what the front desk staff said when I called to tell them my AC was not working properly) resulting in me turning my AC to 55 degrees just to get it to turn on, then running louder than a train wreck all night to put out a measly amount of cool air on a 100+ degree night. When checking in they gave my reservation away which was a double bed room, and made me stay in a single bed room, with my co-worker - which as a married woman was an extremely awkward situation. The pool area noise is unbearable at night. And when I bring it up to them today after I called about the double booking charge they first told me that both the King rooms and Double rooms are ""standard"" so Travelocity can't tell the difference when making a reservation, and that they did my a favor by ""upgrading"" me to a king room. Obviously that's a contradiction (first a king bed and double room are standard, then the king room is an upgrade?), and I still have my Travelocity email confirmation which clearly stated a double room with 2 beds was reserved. + I remember clearly being able to choose which room type I wanted online. I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel or having to go through this experience to my worst enemy. more

Classy Modern Fun 2/18/2008

Just went to Dinner at the Clarendon for Valentine's and it was fantastic. ""C"" is their logo and aptly so,--minimalist but retro style colors and stripes make this place pop! more

Nice quiet stay... 12/29/2006

The clarendon definitely has a different feel. It has a central location, abstract appeal, and free internet... Lacks some of the smaller benefits such as a fridge in the rooms. The food / bar are rather expensive (spent 12 for two eggs - two pieces of bacon - and two pieces of toast) and h it up about $50.00 on the tab for three drinks and a shot. The staff are friendly and courteous. Pros: location Cons: price of food and drinks more

Wish I could have stayed longer! 7/27/2006

This hotel is a real find - I travel frequently for business and have rarely come across a hotel that has both style and exceptional service. The staff was knowledgable, friendly and abundantly helpful. The bed was delightful - one of the best nights of rest I've had on the road. Pros: More than your standard boutique hotel more

Great place to stay in Phoenix on Business 5/13/2005

I have stayed in many hotels in Phoenix while on buisness there. Clarendon is by far my favorite. Convienently located to downtown businesses and entertainment. The staff are professional and extremely customer focused. The decor is extremely fun. Pros: Staff, Location, Decor more

Clarendon Hotel + Suites and Camus Restaurant 5/12/2005

Hidden jewel in Phoenix. Stay here and you will be delighted with the service. We would treated royally! The staff is top drawer and the rooms really clean and fresh! Very conveniently located to mid and downtown Phoenix--and very quiet off the main thoroughfares but easily reached! Room decor very soothing and the bed allowed me the best and most restful nights ever! The attached restaurant and lounge (Camus) were quite a surprise. I travel extensively and this is some of the finest tasting and best presentation of a meal I have even experienced! Do try this hotel and restaurant soon. You will be delighted as was I! Pros: Close in, Great Restaurant Camu, Comfy Beds more

The best hotel in Phoenix! 5/3/2005

Overall the best choice for a hotel in Central Phoenix - the Clarendon uses the same beds as the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons chains, the service is incredible, the linens/towels/robes are fantastic, Aveda amenities in the room are a plus, the rooms are large, modern, and comfortable. The location is perfect, being right in the heart of Central Phoenix. Rates are incredibly attractive, and everything was included: breakfast, parking, local/long distance phone calls, newspaper and high speed internet. The building is amazing at night - looks like the northern lights. The restaurant and bar - Camus - are amazing as well... finally Phoenix has something worth checking out! Pros: Amazing Beds, Excellent Service, Low Rates more

Clarendon Rocks! 3/20/2005

I never knew such things existed in Phoenix first of all. Talk about style! It feels like being at the Standard hotel in Hollywood or a south beach boutique. The staff was friendly, prompt, knowledgeable and competent. Everything from the pool deck, to the in-room carpet tiles, to the walls were all vibrant in color. The furniture is modern, the lighting original and the artwork visually stunning. Hip music playing in the lobby: lounge, trip-hop, and downbeat. How cool is that? Their new restaurant and bar has got to be the coolest in town. At night time, the entire exterior of the hotel is washed in these really cool colored lights that shoot up the wall and change colors and effects-way cool. I met guests that ranged from traveling businesswomen, to familes with children, to young professionals. Pros: Decor/Ambiance, Comfortable Rooms, Wireless Internet more
