heaven for my Boys !!! 3/7/2012

IWE have been a boarder here at the Black Pegasus Farm before it the new owners took over and, what I can and will happily say is this.......... When we arrived at the farm ( then know as North Stream Farm) I found it to be really a diamond in the ruff and the owner at the time didn't care if my horses were retired Grade or ranch horses and not some show horse;we were welcomed with the love, care and compassion that any horse would get show or not quality; my boys got a chance to be horses (especially my partner's horse who really came into his own and out of his shell); now with Theresa and Ian as new owners my Boys continue to be happy and cared for just as the first day when they arrived, they couldnt be be happier and, I wouldnt want them under anyone esle's care for this is is their home and I am happy to see them be Happy Horses....in short like i said in the heading ""it's heaven for My Boys !!"". more

Happy Horse = Happy Owner!!! 2/4/2012

I have had my horse at Black Pegasus for 6 months and I can’t say enough good things about the owners and the facility. Before I moved my horse to Black Pegasus she had dropped about 100 to 150 pounds and had a terrible attitude. Now I can happily say that my horse has gained all her weight back and her attitude has GREATLY improved. The feed is amazing and has done wonders for my mare; it has improved her coat, performance in the ring and reduces the risk of colic. Since my horse is getting older and has had colic in the past, knowing she is on an excellent feed is a great relief. Theresa has great knowledge in the field of nutrition and understands the needs that each individual horse may need. Also in terms of my horse’s health, Theresa and Ian have a worming schedule posted and give you the option of buying and administering it yourself or for a small fee they will buy the wormer and have the staff administer it. I think this is great because you as an owner have the option. Also, they have a dentist who comes two times a year, for those horses who are on a yearly schedule and those horses who may need the dentist every six months. Theresa and Ian also allow their boarders to choose what farrier they would like to use. In terms of a veterinarian, I have had my own personal experiences with a few of them and I have found one whose expertise in the equine field is phenomenal. I am grateful to know that he caters too many of horses at Black Pegasus. In looking at the facility, as a horse owner of 13 years I have visited many other places and have not found one such as this where my horse can be a horse. The pastures are spacious with automatic-water stands in each one. Theresa and Ian are motivated and as a boarder I can’t tell you how exciting it is to know that they want to make improvements to satisfy their boarders as well as horses. I have personally seen many improvements in the 6 months I have had my horse here. Although an indoor is a great amenity for a horse owner, I can assure you that Ian and Theresa are working towards adding this feature to Black Pegasus in the future. Another area I have not touched on is the miles of beautiful trails, even though there is an outdoor ring, if you feel like going on a trail ride, you have the option! Theresa and Ian have a passion for what they are doing which I have rarely seen at any other barns I have visited or boarded at. The atmosphere is one that makes you feel comfortable, welcomed, and confident. Theresa and Ian are willing to work with their boarders to ultimately give the best care to the horses as well as assurance that your horse is well cared for. The staff is knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. The stalls are immaculate; the horses get hay 3 times a day and ALWAYS have fresh clean water. Overall, I have found my experience at this barn to be exceptional and I am truly grateful that my horse is well taken care of. Theresa and Ian are dedicated, compassionate and most importantly have a passion for what they do! They have a personal touch that I can say I have never experience at any other stable. I am truly grateful for Theresa and Ian and the care and services they provide for my horse. I can assure you I am not leaving anytime soon! I encourage anyone who has doubts about visiting or boarding at Black Pegasus to please come and see for yourself!!! more

my friends horse 2/4/2012

my friend keeps her horse here and the farm is well maintained, which carries over to the care for the horses. everything in this facility is amazing, the owners, the grounds and amenities as well.....everything you would ever need is right at your finger tips....when i accompany her to see her horse which i do alot iam amazed at the attention the owners give to every detail...they are also looking constantly for ways to improve by always talking with boarders about ideas and interests that they can implement into there farm ...my friend and her horse have never been happier and it all comes down to the love and care these farm owners put into each and everyday of their work caring for every aspect of this farm....i have great respect for what they do and the passion they share doing it....i would recommend this place to all without blinking an eye!!! more

what is all the fuss about 1/31/2012

I just don't understand what all the fuss is about. Not every barn can be perfect for everyone, when it's not what you want, you leave, so why all the trash talk. I board at Black Pegasus and I have no problem. My horse is well taken care of, any concerns I have the staff and owners accomdate me. The grounds are beautiful, the ring is dragged (does it matter by who?) and the people are great. For me it's a good fit. The people who are writing negative reviews seem to have an ax to grind, their complaints are more about runnor and hear say than actual events. more

A nice barn for the price! 1/30/2012

I don't usually get involved with reviews but it's time to throw my two cents in. I don't know details on past events but I can say, as a current customer, my horse has not had a health issue since I moved to this barn and I've gotten along very well with the staff. I'm sure it's not perfect but for the price, it's totally worth it. I don't get involved in rumors and don't judge people or circumstances without knowing the whole story. It seems past reviews are based on what has been heard and not personal experiences. Unlike other reviews based on second-hand knowledge, I can tell you that I've seen for myself many improvements made and things continue to get better every week. The barn is nearly full now of happy boarders and that should speak louder than past events or rumors spread by a few disgruntled customers who are no longer there to see what's going on. See for yourself before passing judgement. As I said, it's not perfect but it's been a very good fit for me and my horse and as long as the care continues to show great results, we are not leaving anytime soon! more

Bad Horse Care 1/30/2012

There is NOTHING good to say about this place. A previous reviewer - Sharon - complained all the time about the lack of care and the indifference of the owners. I guess she's now drinking the kool-aid! The place could be beautiful and at first glance - truly is. The care is not good - the staff other than 1 person - know nothing about horses. Listen - I'm not going to trash the place more than what's been said, but be forewarned!! What you are promised up front is not what your going to get over time. Just look closely at the fencing. A current trainer drags the ring herself b/c the owners will not. The fencing is dangerous and many times horses got loose. This place is full of drama from the owners, staff and their family - One of the owners - Ian has a significant anger issue as seen by many people, farriers and vets. He is very intimidating (except that he's 4'11"") Maybe things have changed, but from what I've heard - it hasn't. There is a reason so many people have left this place. And they did cheat on feed and the amount of turnout - The people that left, left the empty promises, care not worth the price and drama. They all left for the comfort that their horses would get better care. No hard feelings to the owners and staff - but stick to construction and let someone else care for animals. more

a home away from home. 1/29/2012

i cant say enough good things about Black Pegasus. in the time ive spent there me and my horse always feel welcome and ALWAYS feel taken care of. the property is beautiful and well maintained, so much so that you would think your at a much higher end expensive place. not so, there prices are very reasonable and worth it. i recomend highly to anyone who values the care of their horses. the owners/staff and boarders are all very nice and thats huge. 5* more

Beautiful facility with great people! 1/29/2012

Thankfully, the people commenting below have left and so the barn is a positive, drama-free facility once again. My horse has never been happier or healthier and the peace of mind I feel knowing she's in good hands is priceless. The owners are accomodating and caring- treating boarders horses like their own. The green rolling pastures with natural river flowing through them just can't be beat. With so much land, horses are never over crowded and can find a turn out with horses they get along with. Warm, friendly atmosphere with people who come to love and enjoy their horses, not cause problems. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and hard working. They do what's best for your horse (like switching to a lighter blanket if the weather changes) without being asked or charging you extra. There is excellent communication between staff and boarders so you can feel assured your horse will get the care you want. The ring has been redone and the footing is dragged every few days so we've been able to ride outside all winter-- no need for an indoor and the kind of people it would bring! There's a wonderful sense of peace you have from the moment you enter at the front gate that you and your horse won't find anywhere else. Forget the reviews, come visit and see for yourself why I won't board my horse anywhere else! more

Great Barn and GREAT owners! 1/29/2012

I have the feeling the reviews written that are horrible have something to do with someone that needs some prozac and an attitude adjustment. I have boarded at many barns in this area and I love this place. Theresa and Ian are incredible and continually strive to make their facility top class. They are hard workers and want the best for all the horses in their care but will not put up with nasty people that spread rumors and discontent within the barn. If you have a problem, you need to address it with them directly and stop complaining behind their backs. As far as weather issues, God wins on that one and they dealt with it as well as they could given the circumstances. You should have stepped up and tried to help rather than contribute to the stress. Great Barn and GREAT PEOPLE! more

Accident waiting to happen. 11/21/2011

I'm SO glad I moved out of this place. Every day that I couldn't make it to the barn I spent worrying about the well being of my horse. The owners are completely clueless and know nothing about horses, so don't expect them to spot an injury or colic or be able to help with either issue. They are more concerned about having a working fountain than repairing the horrible fencing around the property. Horses were constantly loose, and the girls working on the farm usually didn't know anything about horses. Lots of empty promises here, there was supposed to be an indoor arena by October, and there seem to be no plans for that. Not only that, but the outdoor arena is a complete disaster and frequently floods and washes away. The last time it flooded when I was there, a lot of footing washed away, and their answer to that problem was to just dump more sand, so it was extremely uneven: hard spots, deep soft spots, a tendon injury waiting to happen. Very little shavings in stalls, poor quality hay and very little of it. Owner and her husband are very sneaky people, nice to your face and talk about you behind your back. Also, the husband has some serious anger issues and should not be working around animals. Don't let the gorgeous property fool you, this place is horrible. more

Horrible Horse Care! 11/21/2011

I use to board here and I and about 12 other Boarders recently left. The care is horrible. They cheat on your horses feed - FACT!! and they honestly do not know anything about caring for your horses. The staff is equally inept. There is no Vet practice there anymore and there is no indoor. They are apparently on COD with the feed people. The fencing is horrible and not safe!! The stalls barely have any bedding in them. During the power outage they got a generator - to keep the fish tank going and not the water pump. Be very careful !!! more
