The Apartments At American Tobacco

I want to comment on my review of this property from 2009. My review was based on the original owner of the Noell and Old Bull buildings and the original management company. Both buildings are now under new management and are now owned by a company connected to Capital Broadcasting. I cannot say enough positive things about the people with Capital while we lived there. So please disregard my review from 2009. It seems that things have improved tremendously and these apartments are a wonderful place to live. more

I lived at the Apartments at American Tobacco in the Old Bull Building for a year. When I saw the other review on this site, I had to comment. I never had any problems with management, and my apartment never had a single maintenance issue. I loved living there, with the DPAC accross the street, the Durham Bulls, restaurants, the bus line, night life, etc. I used to ride the Bull City Connector to work at Duke, and saved tons of money in gas. I moved only because I got married, but miss being there everyday. I would recommend living there to anyone! more

I would not recommend renting at The Apartments at American Tobacco to anyone. What we thought was going to be a fun experience turned into one problem after another. We lived there for a year and still had roof leaks the day we moved out. Other tenants had the same experiences with mold in their units, plumbing problems, and HVAC systems breaking not once, not twice, but numerous times. Several units experienced multiple roof leaks that could not be repaired. We paid a very high rent only to be treated poorly by the management company and to live in what is essentially on dump. Don't let the surface fool you. These places are riddled with problems. Pros: Location Cons: HVAC failures, Roof Leaks, Mold, Indifferent Management, etc more
