great food, 1/28/2010

I guess you get what you pay for:) Would love to go there more often than I do, but with dishes being on the pricey side, my visits are limited to special occasions. Don't get me wrong, I love this place....just not often enough. Pros: food tastes great Cons: price more

Awesome Thai Food!!! 8/16/2009

My hubby and I ate there last night and it was deeeelicious. And what a treat to have a place open on a Sunday evening down here in the sticks. Dinner was fabulous, the curry was perfectly spicy, and all of the flavors were spot on. The dining room was gorgeous too, I had no idea. It looked like there were rooms in the back for groups, how much fun would that be? We have found our Thai joint, we will definitely go back. Pros: beautiful space, pleasant staff, awesome food Cons: none, really more

Food is Pricey and Tom Yum Soup was Salty!!!! 3/25/2009

I can't believe tom yum was salty. Food is way overpriced. I wouldn't recommend going here unless you absolutely have too. There are better Thai's in the surrounding area. First vistior, last time visitor as well. Pros: nice decor, pleasant atmosphere Cons: Pricey, Food was salty... more

Food is good but too pricey 3/9/2009

I love the food but they need to lower the prices more

What a WONDERFUL find!!! 3/7/2009

We discovered this restaurant gem through a Google search. My husband and I decided to try Thai Palace because of the recommendations of others on this site. I had never tasted Thai food but wanted to try the dish, Pad Thai, because I had seen a ""Throwdown"" with Bobby Flay on the Food Network and it was for Pad Thai. The Thai Palace made the most delicious Pad Thai! Their hot green tea was also wonderful and my husband really enjoyed his curried chicken. We were given MORE than enough food to eat and my husband is a big eater. We left, KNOWING that we would return. The atmosphere in the dining room is very beautiful and is deceptive from the outside. One would never know what beauty awaited them until they ventured inside. The staff was very friendly and attentive! We will return for our Anniversary. We really look forward to discovering new dishes on our next visit. Pros: Food, atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff Cons: price. A little more than we usually spend on a regular basis. more

Good food 2/4/2009

Amazing food! Each and every time I come here I am totally thrilled with the consistency of their food and it's quality. I admit I usually grab take out here, and not big on sitting at this restaurant, not sure why, but honestly, if you love Thai food, I bet you'll be in LOVE with this place! more

Delicious Food, Friendly Service, Relaxing Atmosphere 4/1/2008

Thai Palace is a favorite of our family. Even though we're not experts on Thai cuisine, we recognize excellent food and service when we see it. The place is run, I believe, by a Thai family and there is somewhat of a family-like atmosphere. The decorum is beautiful and authentic. They are always friendly and the food is consistently delicious. I took about 20 of my workmates there one day for lunch and several of them commended me for my choice, so I know I'm not the only one who likes this place. Try it out. Pros: Delicious food, friendly, nice atmosphere. Cons: Portions are not as big as I would like; sometimes it takes a while for the food to come. more

worst thai restaurant ever 3/22/2008

this was unequivocally the worst thai food I've ever had. My guess is the positive reviews are from people who work there. I can't imagine anyone saying this is a good thai place. \r \r The service was terrible and the staff rude as well. No one came to check to see if my meal was good (it wasn't). I ordered spicy curry and it came in a small soup-size bowl. For $12.95? For lunch? Had it been good, it might have been redeemed but it was watery, flavorless and barely edible. Oh, I was also the only one in the place. \r \r worst thai food ever Cons: everything more

Best Thai Restaurant in North Carolina 10/31/2007

I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants and lived in Bangkok for 3 years, and I have to say that this is authentic Thai dining at its finest. The food is exactly what Thais themselves eat, with a great selection for all tastes. The owner is very friendly and all of the employees are Thai, so you can count on the legendary Thai hospitality. I highly recommend this restaurant and this is hands down the best Thai food in the Triangle. Try it out and become a regular customer like so many others have done. There's a reason why this restaurant has been in business for over 15 years! Pros: Authentic Thai Food, ambience, friendly Thai service more

Great thai 6/17/2007

Not much to say - it's a great thai restaurant not far from the heart of Chapel Hill. Nothing exceptional, just consistently good food and service. Prices are a few dollars higher than average, so I often order to-go. Pros: location, parking, service more

One of the best kept secrets 3/22/2007

I have been to this retaurantseveral times and the appetizers and extree are always excellent (I do not eat dessert so can't comment on those). My faveroites are the MEE KROB, BANGKOK DUCK, and the \r fried whole Fish. I have rarely had to wait for a table or a server. Pros: the food, parking Cons: the prices are a bit high but not objectionable more

Woo! added protein 1/19/2007

I've been meaning to write this for a while, but hadn't gotten around to making my citysearch account until recently. I went in, sat down and they handed me a menu. I opened the menu and - no lie - a 3"" brown thing that rhymes with 'loach' ran out of the thing, into my lap, then scampered off. I know you can't necessarily control or help things that come up, but this was possibly the most amazing thing involving 'insects' i've ever seen in a restaurant. \r \r I can't really comment on the food. I just had tea and white rice after that (that way I could see if anything would pop out of it). Pros: Free protein! Cons: the free protein. more

Great Thai Food 1/12/2007

I thought the food was very tasty. And have gone back for takeout several times since. The atmosphere is not at all what I would call upscale, but it certainly beats many local Thai restaurants in the area. I'd recommend it as a place to get great tasting Thai food. I went on a weeknight and it did take a while to get our food. I would go with the expectation that it may take a little while. Spend the time waiting for entrees over an appetizer or two. Watch out for their Tom Yum soup, it is pretty spicy. Pros: Great food Cons: A little slow more

Best Thai in the area 12/10/2006

I would describe this place as upscale Thai. The choo chee plah is delicious. Especially with fish sauce which they don't keep on the tables but are happy to bring out if you ask for it. Pros: food, atmosphere more

Best Thai in the Triangle! 10/30/2006

I can't tell you how much I LOVE this place. I didn't know that I liked Thai before eating here because I'd never had good Thai food before. I really like the Bangkok Duck and also the cashew chicken dish. Thai Palace also has great ambiance. It's very nice and quiet, but I've also seen alot of families with well behaved kids too. So, I'd say it works well for date night. My husband and I use to go there for good long talks during dinner before our baby. But, we feel comfortable bringing her as long as she's had a nap:) Pros: Great Food, Price, Service more

Way overpriced for what you get 3/30/2006

I went in hungry and left hungry. The shrimp penang consisted of 10 shrimp in a penang sauce, and that was it. No vegetables included. Rice servings were about 1/2 cup and that is probably a generous estimate. All that for $14.95, not including gratuity. Do yourself a favor and go to A Taste of Thai in Raleigh. I will not be going back to Thai Palace. Pros: Good service, Food tastes good Cons: Way to expensive more

Finally, a good thai restaurant! 10/26/2005

We just moved here in July, and our search for a delicious thai food restaurant ended when we went to Thai Palace. The service was fantastic; very pleasant wait staff and knowledgable. The penang curry was just right, and the menu was very extensive for meat eaters and vegetarians. My only complaint was that it was a little pricier than I am used to at home (average 12 bucks per plate) but that seems to be the norm out here. The quality of the food and the overall dining experience is worth the extra $, and you will surely walk away satisfied. Pros: Courteous Staff, Great Food, Great Menu Cons: Slightly overpriced more

Thai to the next level 12/28/2004

With a rash of new Thai resturants opening, it makes you appreciate the Thai Palace even more. I always enjoyed the food, but now i can say it is the best hands down. You can go 6 nights a week and never have the same meal or taste and you always leave full. Pros: big portions, large menu, excellent variety more

Almost Genuine 2/5/2003

Having spent all summer working in Bangkok, I felt that the food was good and fairly genuine. My biggest complaint was how limited the menu was. Many staples of Thai food, such as Pad See Yoo, were conspicuously absent. The service, while decent, was far from Thai. The Thai people are known for their smiles, easy-going attitudes, and heart of service. Our waiter smiled alot, but seemed to have some trouble taking our orders. Everything came right, but slowly. The worst was attempting to get our bill. After waiting a long time and having half of our table cleared already, we asked a busboy to convey the message that we wanted the bill. We then proceeded to wait another ten minutes before our waiter finally came back through the room where we were seated and asked if we wanted desert. I would go back, but I'd hope for better waitstaff. Pros: Food Quality, Good Parking, Fair Prices Cons: Slow Service more

Great Food 12/10/2002

The food was so delicious. I was once in Thailand but their thai dishes are even better than what I had in Thailand. more
