I went to Tennessee Red's a couple years ago when I first came to town and it was pretty good. I live close by, so I took my son there for dinner a couple weeks ago when he came into town and it was just awful.
The ribs have WAY too much pepper on them and they are TOUGH! Ribs done properly should be tender, that requires a sufficient amount of brining time before smoking and cooking. The brisket was tough as well, and the corn muffins were hard, lumpy, and disgusting. Even the server agreed they were horrible. The cole slaw wasn't fresh and the red beans and rice was nothing to write home about. And what's with putting all the sides in little cups? Makes eating them nearly impossible without spillage.
The ""spicy"" Memphis-style sauce is way too hot to be called spicy (I eat a lot of hot food, not a wimp, so I know what I'm talking about!)
I guess the pulled pork sliders were okay, I didn't order any but my son said they were good, however, he could barely breathe because they were smothered in the ""spicy"" Memphis-style sauce.
All this disgusting food set us back about $45 too, so it was NOT cheap, we didn't even have beers. And certainly no one offered to offer any kind of remedy for my complaint about the corn muffins.
Who the hell is the chef here? He should be ASHAMED.
Pros: Service wasn't horrible, but wasn't great
Cons: The food WAS horrible
