Lousy Sat night bartender 3/27/2010

It was not very busy tonight, yet the bartender acted like he was sooooooo damn busy that he could not give you the time of day and i think he is hard of hearing too or just too worried about counting his tips to care about anything else. Pros: Nice ambiance, excellent food Cons: LOUSY...lousy bartender more

Relaxing Neighborhood Restaurant 12/15/2009

Great neighborhood bar and restaurant. I enjoy having a beer and some appetizers at Tavern. They have a friendly staff and the building is decorated wonderfully for the holidays. It has a sense of warmth while your enjoying your beer after a long day. It's a great spot to wind down, relax and have a good time. I recommend trying it out even if Lowry seems out of the way. I will be back!! Pros: excellent staff and wonderful holiday decorations more

Great atmosphere 6/17/2009

-This place has a great energy. It always seems like people are having a good time. The bar is awesome and you can't beat the patio this time of year. They had some kind of seafood special when I went the other night which I wish they would add to their menu. It rocked! Pros: way above-average food, good drinks, great atmosphere Cons: nothing so far more

great brunch 6/8/2009

_ Although i do go to Tavern Lowry occasionally in the winter, my favorite thing is to go on Saturday mornings for brunch outside on the patio. So, I make my way over when it's going to be nice and sunny. Then I plop down for a nice strong bloody mary and some eggs benedict. Can't beat it! Great way to start my weekend. Pros: LOVE the bloody mary's Cons: i wish they had brunch every day more

Consistently good 4/15/2009

There aren't a ton of interesting bars or restaurants in Lowry, so this place is definitely my go-to. They always have good food (I'm a big fan of trying out restaurants' daily specials and I've never been disappointed by theirs) and the people who work there are pretty cool. They've got a HUGE bar that's in the middle of the room so you can easily saddle up to a space on it. Pros: Consistent food and service more

Parking easy, bar tenders very inexperienced (this is after giving them 6 chances over 2 years) 1/2/2009

Parking easy, bar tenders very inexperienced (this is after giving them 6 chances over 2 years) very overpriced for the level of service. $26 for burger and 2 beers. They never seem to service people at the bar, have to flag them down for basics, silverware, another beer, short pores. Pros: parking easy & free Cons: expensive, poor service more

Great Restaurant, Great Music Below 6/26/2008

Recently, my wife and I attended the Opie Gone Bad show at The Soiled Dove Underground (below Tavern Lowry), but decided to eat dinner upstairs before hand. I had been to The Soiled Dove before for a friends party, but had never been to the restaurant upstairs. \r When we arrived, there was a short wait, but soon we were seated at a table in the main dining room. We ordered a few glasses of wine, before looking over the menu. They came out very quickly along with a jug of water and two small glasses. I really like to see restaurants that take the initiative of leaving water on your table, so you can refill it as much as you need to. We ordered dinner - I got the Duck Enchiladas, my wife got the Pan Roasted Salmon. Both were absolutely delicious! For a ""Tavern"" atmosphere, they really do an outstanding job on their menu and food service. After we ate we ordered a piece of carrot cake, which was equally as good. \r Once we finished eating, we ventured down the staircase to The Soiled Dove below to go to the show. Our tickets were at will call and we had to wait for a moment behind several people in line, but soon enough we got in and found our seats at our table. The concert was not very crowded, and our server came to our table write away for orders. She informed us that the ""Musical Note Lights"" attached to the top of the table are to be used for ordering drinks or food. There is a little switch that turns on a red light so the server knows when you are ready to order - Great Idea!! The drinks downstairs were a bit more expensive than up in the restaurant, but no more so than when I have gone to the Paramount Theater or others. The concert was great and ended up leaving before the band had finished, so I don't even know how late they go till. I'd say all in all, this was a terrific evening and my wife and I will definitely be back again very soon. Pros: Great Food - Duck Enchiladas!! more

ok food, bad service, worse drinks. 5/15/2008

The food is fine, maybe a little pricey for what you get, but the food isn't the problem. The main problem is it's impossible to get a drink. We couldn't get a drink at the bar waiting for a table, once we got to a table it took 15 minutes from the time we ordered until the very weak drinks arrived. This happened everytime we ordered a drink, even though we were only 10 feet from the bar. The waitress said there was nothing she could do and ranted about the horrible bartenders, which didn't seem very profesional, and didn't do anything to fix the problem. The place seemed to be in chaos and no one was doing anything to fix it. Dont waste your money here. Pros: parking, the salads are ok. Cons: drinks, bartenders, wait staff. more

Love this Lowry bar 4/16/2008

That's unfortunate to hear the person's review below. My experience is completely opposite. My son plays hockey not far from there at Big Bear Rink, so when he has his weekly practices I drop him off and head over to Tavern Lowry with a few of the other parents. The staff is very welcoming to us. They remember what we like to drink and are very attentive. Pros: Service more

GREAT for the Avs (and Nuggs soon!) 4/16/2008

I see why 5280 voted them Best Bar in a Bar (weird award . . . but it?s true!). It?s cool because it?s right in the middle of the room so you can get to it from all sides so easy access. I saw the comment that someone made below about the bad drinks. Maybe the bartender had a bad night, because my drinks have always been great (and I also happen to be a martini drinker). Hopefully, they?ll try it again ? or maybe branch out with their beer selection?? There are a lot of great beers out there.\r Pros: Great Place to watch the games & AWESOME food Cons: Wish the weather would stay nice to sit on the patio! more

Terrible bar service, and worse drinks. 4/12/2008

my fiance and i went to the tavern lowry for dinner and drinks last week, celebrating a rare night off together, and hoping for a relaxing evening. Unfortunately when we got there we had to sit at the bar because the host was overwhelmed and we were sick of waiting. Now i have bartended or worked in the bar industry for 11 years and i have never complained at a restraunt in my life. But this was the worst service i have ever recieved. One bartender on the other side of the bar was flirting with two men for at least 10 minutes while me my fiance and four other customers waited for service, and talked about possibility that we were invisible. The bartender we were stuck with on our side WAS THE SINGLE SLOWEST BARTENDER I HAVE EVER SEEN! There was a moderate crowd at the bar so i understand a little wait, but in the 10 minutes we waited for drinks i think he might have made 6 drinks including a martini that he spilled and spent a couple minutes looking up what i can only assume were drink recipies. When we finally were approached by the bartender he was very nice took our orders and after a few minutes of painstaking drink making he brought me back my amaretto sour with a lime in it and he used a jigger to pour the drink. (nothing tackier than that) I was curious if this person had ever bartended before or just was pulled off the street. Needless to say we didn't stay for dinner and will not be going back. O and by the way, when we got our Tab from the female bartender (the male was still busy trying to figure out how to bartend) it was the completely wrong bill and after we notified her of this problem she went over to the computer and spent 5 minutes pushing buttons and discussing with the other bartender and eventually brought us a another wrong check which we decided to pay anyway and try to leave with our sanity intact. Cons: terrible bar staff, jigger drinks, seems to be terribly managed. more

Great salad and potato pancakes, TERRIBLE mixed drinks 4/3/2008

We recently tried the Tavern at Lowery for the first time. We had a couple drinks at the bar while waiting for our friends. The bartender was inexperienced and poured the worst drink we've ever had. His pour was much less then a shot, his martini's were mostly vermuth, sour mix, lime juice, etc... so light on the alcohol they tasted bad. We sat down and our server for dinner was really freindly and she did a great job. The potato pancakes were great as were the salads (steak salad was great).\r \r We won't go back because of the bad bar drinks. The Tavern does not serve Coors products, and because Coors in the only beer we drink, we tried the alcohol with no sucess. We eventually switched to wine which was the only thing the bartender couldnot screw up (provided it was fresh). Pros: Potato Pancakes and steak salad Cons: Bad drinks and no Coors products more
