Taste Of India Restaurant

While I had to read the description of the dishes because some names were different than I was used too, ie; Lamb Rogan josh vs. Lamb Do-Piaza... the food was excellent. It was my sweeties first foray into Indian cusine and she was, happily, not dissapointed. We started with the lentil soup which was a terrific beginning to the meal, we should have ordered a quart to take home. The roti and naan breads were fantastic with the tamarind sauce and onion chutney. Our entrees arrived and we shared lobster colored tandori chicken and perfectly seasoned lamb with a half carafe of the house red. The saffron rice was also delicious. The older Indian gentleman who served us was informative and attentive throughout the meal. Pros: Nice clean place... Great food!! Cons: Neighborhood probably not the best more

I'm here in Virginia travelling, and happen to enjoy Indian Cuisine. Well, Chicken Tikka Masala anyway, and Naan. I looked this place up on the web, plugged into the GPS, and took off. Not hard to find, all freeway but 1/4 mile at most. Pros: Wait ""staff"", location, menu size, food is good Cons: Maybe a hair more expensive than some others, but food/service worth it. more

At least in our opinion. My husband and I love this place. The food is divine and the staff are warm and welcoming. We have tried various starters and main courses and loved them all. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the service is top-notch. I always opt for medium (you can choose the spiciness of entrees) and it's just the right amount of heat. Their selection of fresh naan is delicious and I could probably eat that alone. We don't get there as often as we'd like, but every time we dine we are just as satisfied as the last. Sure this restaurant is in a poor location-but it is the biggest secret in Richmond. My husband and I love it-the best in Richmond. Always plenty of food-the vegetable appetizer sampler is to die for. The onion chutney and papadum is definitely the best in town. The main dishes are somewhat similar but by the time you get to that-you're full. :) Pros: never crowded, lots of food, friendly service Cons: long wait more
