Unlike the traditional Italian fare found at other North End restaurants, Taranta draws heavily on the owner's Peruvian heritage to take its cuisine to another level. The combination is excellent, including unique ingredients such as Peruvian potatoes and glazes made from sugar cane combined with the Italian bases. Most dishes come served in terra cotta dishes adding to the South American vibes.
This restaurant is always very busy, but does not lose its romantic ambiance. The prices are fair for the area and the service is excellent.
