Best Tastings around 1/23/2009

I was looking for an interesting outing last wednesday, and I came across Tango. It just so happened that they were having a ""Wine Class"" about the Casa Lapostolle winery and the wines that they offer. I was very impressed by the knowledge of the staff, and their friendly attitudes, even considering my inexperiance and silly questions. All in all, it was a memorable night and I can't wait for the next ""Wine Class"". A must see in Little italy. Pros: Great Staff knowledge, outstanding wine prices Cons: focussed on American(north and south) more

Tango Wine for Cruise Ship Wine and Tasting Wine 1/14/2009

My wife and I had what we call two great experiences in one at Tango Wine Company. We found them online based on close proximity to the San Diego airport and espcially to where our cruise ship was departing. Started out we browsed their wines online and then called to order 2 cases of wine to take on our Holland America cruise. Pros: amazing wine, close to cruise ship, view of San Diego harbor Cons: I live too far to go often more

Great Wine - Great Value 6/19/2008

Tango is a great place to have a get together with your friends, especially on the weekends. They have $5 dollar testing?s with yummy affordable wine. I have to say going to Tango has made me do away with 2-Buck Chuck. I have been converted to enjoying the good stuff Argentina, Chile, and Australia has to offer. Every time I go whether it?s with my fiends or family we always have a good time. The no corkage fee is awesome and is always a group fav. Pros: Good wine, Ambience, Nice Staff more

Best San Diego Wine Bar is Right 6/15/2008

I finally made it over to Tango Wine based on the reviews here and I can see why this was voted the best wine bar in San Diego. The wines were all great -- we were there on Hall Pass Friday and tasted so many great wines. I have always loved Pinot Noirs and ended up being pleasantly surprised by a Riesling that I tasted. The nice thing with the Friday event is you can try several varietals and actually taste the difference. The staff could not be nicer and they had out some complimentary cheeses from Venissimo which are also my favorite. All in all they have great events, great wines and tons from South America. The trick is to check out their website for what events are going on. That Riesling I had was from Paraiso and they will eb there on Wednesday so i will be back. Pros: great wines and prices, friendly staff, no corkage fee, easy parking especially after 6 Cons: can't think of any now more

Most warm and inviting wine bar in San Diego 6/9/2008

I have been inhabiting Tango Wine since it opened and love the casual and warm atmosphere. I liked it so much I ""volunteered"" to work there one night a week - not that it feels much like work. more

Best Chile and Argentina Wines and Great Prices 4/15/2008

I attended the Chile and Argentina wine tasting last Friday night and it was great. The wines were all very good and the prices were very reasonable. The tasting itself was 3 nice size tastings for only $5. Our group then bought a bottle of the Terrazas Reserva Malbec which was phenomenal and well under $20. Apparantly at Tango they never charge a corkage fee to open up your bottle and enjoy it in their tasting room so what can I say --- we opened a second one! This is the friendliest wine bar in San Diego and I think we will all become regulars for their 3 for $5 Friday wine tastings. One other tip: you can mix and match a case of wines and they will give you a 10% discount. Pros: Fun people, easy parking, tasting and retail in one, awesome wines Cons: closes at 10 pm more

Eclectic Wine and Nice People 10/2/2007

I actually found Tango Wine through this website and went in there thinking they were probably over rated. I had a super time selecting wines and left with the most interesting selection of wines mostly well under $20 each. I would call this place an eclectic wine store and I can tell they don't buy into these group buys alot of places do. The Tango girls were super fun when I was there and we all hung out and enjoyed a bottle of Primus from Chile. Nice job ladies! Be back soon and probably for PMS Wednesday! Pros: Out of the box wine selection, great parking, friendly Cons: Had to leave for a date more

Best Winebar in San Diego 9/26/2007

""Tango Wine is still a great place to go to. Placed in Little Italy with a good parking space. It has been decorated since last year, and it is beautiful. more

Best after work wine bar in town. 9/25/2007

Great place. Reminds me of the warm, friendly and down to earth atmosphere you find in the villiage pubs in Britain. I think that's because the owners are unpretentious, have a great sense of humor, and clearly enjoy what they do. I would feel comfortable there whether I were on a date, conducting business, or with my parents! Wine bars too often have a sense of false aristocracy - but not this place, it's a safe harbor, a place to to talk, to think, and to relax. The proof? I'm a guy and I didn't feel the least bit threatened on a PMS Wednesday! I kid you not. It was a hoot! more

Growing Up Wine at Tango Wine 9/25/2007

I think I was one of Tango Wine's first customers when I walked in about a year ago. I had just moved to San Diego and was looking for something really good and not too expensive. I had some bad experiences before when asking for a nice bottle of wine under $10 but the woman at Tango who helped me guided me right to a really nice Malbec red wine from Argentina. I have to say I felt empowered at that point and now I understand Malbecs and more. I feel my understanding of wine has evolved tremendously and by attending some of the Tango Wine tastings. This recommendation is a big thumbs up for Tango to thank them for being my wine guide and always taking the time to answer my questions about wine. They are the best wine store and wine bar in San Diego in my opinion and I am sincere in my 5/5 recommendation. Pros: Nice people, great wine selection, relaxed, lots of fun, easy parking, no corkage Cons: I wish they were open later more

Fun and down to earth new wine store/tasting room in Little Italy - they have parking!! 2/6/2007

I heard about Tango Wine from an e-newsletter I got forwarded from a friend of mine....the newsletter was so pretty and fun to read that i had to check it out! Tango Wine is a retail store with a wine tasting room and the location in Little Italy is super cute - an old brick building and with a view over the harbor. THEY HAVE PARKING!! :) They have really nice wines for around $15/bottle as well as beautiful high end stuff that are even labeled ""wines to impress your boss"" (can it get any easier?). They help you to your car and can also deliver for no additional cost if you buy cases and live in the area. They also have wine tasting events for the public as well as reserve out their tasting room for private events. I love going shopping for wine in the weekends and Tango Wine is a new fun and interesting place to buy and drink wine. more
