BEWARE! Dr. Tanagho did not properly evaluate me at the onset of therapy! She did not require me to fill out a Psychiatric Medical Intake Form, which is standard in the industry. She did not request medical records or my medical history. She did not diagnose me PRIOR to prescribing medications! She did not conduct any psychological or physiological tests, i.e. MMPI, etc. She did not explain to me my emotional disorder. She did not explain to me the reasons for prescribing psychotropic drugs, including the likelihood of the drugs helping or not helping me. She did not explain the other forms of treatment available to me. She never explained the COMMON SIDE EFFECTS of these medications (POTENT DRUGS) that she prescribed to me, and that some of these SIDE EFFECTS may be permanent and irreversible, especially over a long period of time. In summary, she never gave me INFORMED CONSENT, which is against the law. California law (California Health and Safety Code 7185 and California Code of Regulations, Title 22 70707 (b)(6) provides that all people have the right to INFORMED CONSENT to treatment--including medication! We all have the right to know exactly what the Health Care Professional is prescribing us, why they are prescribing, the pros and cons of these HIGHLY POTENT AND DANGEROUS DRUGS, how they affect us, how long do they take to affect us, all the consequences including the COMMON SIDE EFFECTS and our right to refuse medications as well. This M.D. was negligent!!
