Favorite place in Charlotte 3/21/2010

Taiyo Pacific Grill is our favorite place to eat in Charlotte since we know each and every time we go we will be happy with both the food and the service. We have tried many different places for sushi and find Taiyo has the most consistent presentation and flavors at very reasonable prices. We love Thai food and when that mood strikes we have alwasy been happy with the flavors of the hot dishes too.\r \r Service is always outstanding. We never can understand how this place is not more busy since it has great food at great prices. Pros: Great food and price Cons: Never busy if you like that atmosphere more

One Word....AWESOME!!!! 10/7/2009

I must say I love Sushi. Sushi 101 was once my favorite spot until....A friend and I decided to try Taiyo Pacific. We haven't been back to Sushi 101 since.... This place is amazing!!! So many items on the menu....The portion sizes are enormous...well worth the money. I can order one dish and get full. The sushi chef understands PRESENTATION. My favorite is the ""Be mine roll"" and Tuna Nigiris...extremely fresh Tuna...it's sooooo good trust me. This place is very neat and clean... Flat screen tv's and full Bar...\r \r Don't take my word for it....See and taste for yourself...You'll luv it....ENJOY!! Pros: Fresh Sushi...Friendly Staff!! Cons: Location....It's a hidden GOLDMINE more

Phenominal sushi 9/29/2009

I was visiting Charlotte on business and I found Taiyo on citysearch and decided to give it a shot as all reviews thus far had been good. I went in after work (around 6) and was one of a few people there. The sushi chef was very friendly and was happy to just converse about the general minutia of life. Pro tip: ask the sushi chef to make best dishes for you. He asked me in general what I liked and went on to make 3 amazing rolls that weren't on the menu. I left stuffed and the final bill was only $28. I would've paid at least $40 for the same thing at Nikko's in uptown I'm sure and the food was just as good if not better. Pros: Great atmosphere, excellant service, & amazing sushi more

Great Sushi!!! 3/29/2008

This is a fantastic place to dine on all asian cusines. The sashimi, unagi and sushi rolls are fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is quiet and the servers are very attentive. If you enjoy sushi or any other asian meal this is the place to go in Charlotte. more

Wonderful Unique Experience 10/20/2007

This restaurant is a hidden jewel. The casual, tiki sushi bar atmosphere is a nice change from most traditional restaurants of it's kind. The menu is a mixture of many tastes, from Tsai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean. The sushi is extraordinaire. Each piece is huge and the menu items so diverse, it'll take a while to familiarize yourself with the many, many choices. The ""cooked"" sushi selections are clearly marked with many chef recommendations. The service was quick, attentive and very friendly. A lunch special that day was scallion chicken in brown sauce for $4.95!! It's in a stand alone building in front of Home Depot on University Blvd. This is a unique restaurant that we desperately need in the area. Don't deny yourself many wonderful meals because of an unfamiliar name. Pros: Menu diversity, large, fabulous sushi, & service. Cons: A little dark inside. more

absolute best sushi in Charlotte 8/12/2007

My husband and I recently tried out Taiyo after reading about it in the paper. We were amazed at how good their sushi was - beautifully presented, HUGE pieces of fish, very fresh and delicious. We have been looking for good sushi around here for a long time, and this rivals the best sushi I've had in larger, coastal cities. Truly a great find. The service was attentive and friendly, and the decor is beautiful. The rest of the menu looks good too. They have pan-Asian cuisine from all over the place, so it's a good choice if you have members of your party who aren't sushi-eaters but would enjoy Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Vietnamese - you name it. Highly recommended. Pros: GREAT food, great service, beautiful dining area, diverse menu, best sushi I've had in Charlotte more
