I can't believe the people who write one star. When you read their reviews, you can tell they are not cultured.

Been there couple times (never understand why the wait is so long), not so crazy about the Jap food.

Most amazing sushi! 3/6/2005

If you go here for sushi, you have to eat at the sushi bar. The quality of the sushi at the sushi bar is a level above what you find in the main room. Beware of the long lines though. You have to go at least an hour early to get seated in the first round, otherwise, you will be waiting more than an hour for diners to leave. Absolutely get the yellowtail which is the freshest I've tasted in LA. Pros: Fresh sushi, Great sushi chefs Cons: Long Wait more

whats up with this overrated place ! 2/15/2005

after hearing so much about this place i was totally disapointed the sushi was chewy service sucked, no parking, i had better sushi at todai buffet i don't know where they get their support but not from me not even close to good Cons: noisy, overrated more

Taiko's worth the Wait 12/2/2003

The long lines for 20years says it all. Imagine 50 people lined up for a 20person Sushi Bar everyday before they open for lunch or dinner. The reason is simple. Fantastic , Fresh Fish , large portions, low price. The same Sushi Chefs for years. more

Worth the wait 8/7/2003

Ive been going to this restaurant for years now, so I'm used to it when the hostess says, ""about 1 hour"" for the wait. but its worth it. you can get combination plates for under $15, which usually consists of 3 different types of entrees. also, if you want to substitute something on the combination for something else, you can, its just $2 extra. the california rolls, baked mussels, #4 special and fried calamari are delicious. the teriyaki, tempura entrees are alright, about the same as other japanese restaurants. but from the long list for the sushi bar, im sure the sushi is good. there has to be a reason why there is always a long wait...its a pretty good japanese restaurant. Great value for sushi! 3/8/2003

Though most nights involves long waits, it is quite understandable considering its low price for very decent sushi. I ordered salmon sashimi, and though it's not about quanitity, both quantity and quality were ver satisfying to me. I normally don't order california rolls, but the ones here are extremely delicious. The hot green tea is steaming hot. Overall, the value here for the price paid is well worth the wait! And the best part is, if you're thirsty for some boba milk tea afterwards or during the wait, Champion Food Store right next door serves the best you can find!! Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking, Boba store next door Cons: Long waits more
