TLC Landscape Services

I have been trying for over 4 months to get TLC to complete work that Matt already charged my credit card for. TLC had been cutting my grass for over a year. They were never dependable but I am not one who needs his yard kept immaculate and they are very inexpensive so I only complained when the grass got unsightly. When I needed to have some trees cut down Matt asked if he could bid on the job. Matt underbid the other companies and I awarded him the job. They did not do all of the work required (left big stumps in the yard), what they did took weeks longer than expected, their equipment damaged my driveway, hydraulic fluid leaking from their truck made bare spots on my yard where nothing will grow, their truck left tire marks everywhere it went, they broke steps leading up a hill on my property, they broke the slate walkway in a garden area, and they even dropped a tree on my next door neighbor?s garage. After a number of unhappy e-mails from me, Matt came to my house and told me that he would make everything right and do the fall cleanup as restitution for the damage to my driveway. His crew came, did some (very little) of the work that Matt had promised and piled all the leaves from my yard on the front edge of my lawn. Now I am concerned that I am going to get cited by the township for the leaves going into the street. I believe I will end up in small claims court before this is over. more

Normally, I wouldn't go out of my way to write a negative review about a company, even if I was generally displeased with the work they had done for me, but the grass-cutting service I received from TLC Landscaping was just so poor, so unprofessional, that I feel compelled to tell people not to hire this company. The owner (Matt) comes across as a nice enough guy, but he is astoundingly unprofessional and unreliable. He'd show up, not according to the schedule we agreed upon, but, seemingly, just whenever he felt like it, do a half-assed job, and, then, we never knew how many weeks would pass before we'd see him again. And trying to get in touch with him was a constant frustration for us; he doesn't seem to like extending the common courtesy of returning phone calls to his clients. There are so many well-managed and respectable landscaping companies in the area -- TLC is simply as bad as you can get. I'd strongly advise you to look elsewhere for service. more

The owner of the company (Matt) was quick to tell us that he prides himself on service and that his reputation is of the utmost importance because he is a local guy whose parents are teachers in the school district. He promised weekly service on specific days unless it rained and offered to send us literature to share with our neighbors in the hopes of gaining their accounts too. Needless to say, we never received any literature - over the course of 7 weeks he has showed up 3 times in good weather to cut the grass. Doesn't return phone calls but he has been known to ""text message"" at his convenience. We have also yet to billed for the measly 3 cuts we did receive the last of which was 3 weeks ago. This is by far the worst landscaping company I have ever dealt with. I have a fairly large yard and backyard, and I never find the time to do any of the work that needs to be done. I saw these guys working in Swarthmore and I figured I'd give them a shot. Wow was I wrong. Matt, the owner, is a unbelievably ignorant person. I also talked to one of his workers and I asked how he liked the job and he said he hated it, because Matt was such an atrocious boss, and that he payed his workers sporadically, never on a week to week basis. Not only did they NEVER come to my house to finish the work I asked, he tried to bill me before he even did any work! My grass was half way cut, there were clippings everywhere. They did not trim the surroundings of my yard. They did not blow off the clippings off of my driveway. I mean, what the hell did he do?! He was ignorant on the phone with me and in person. DO NOT EVER have this man work for you. I don't care how awful your surroundings look. more

We're reluctant to say negative things about anyone, but unfortunately we cannot recommend TLC. They did not deliver on the work that was agreed to, and several well-meaning attempts from us to resolve this were met with excuses but no resolution. We made the mistake of paying in full before the work was completed, and so nothing was done after that point even though TLC committed to return to complete the work. Finally we had to hire another landscaper to complete this work. Compared to TLC, the work done by the other landscaper showed much more attention to detail (pride in quality workmanship). It was also more reasonable in price. more

We contracted for weekly lawn-cutting service, but they came only sporadically. The lawn would grow to unreasonable lengths before they'd come again. We got a quote for a big job in early August and gave the okay, but they didn't start work until mid-October and then only finished half the agreed-upon work by early November and expected to be paid for the entire job. Pros: None to speak of Cons: Never know when they'll show up more

I have gone through several lawn service companies and TLC is the best I can remember. The owner Matt is reliable and prompt. Most importantly we are very pleased with the work we have had done. We had a tree trimed and garden installed. more
