Great Food (bit pricey for what ya get) but delicious. FUN atmosphere. Me & my girls try to get together once a month for dinner to catch up and get away from our home lives and hussle & bussle...good spot to do it! Its definitely a good time - its that perfect dose of ""get out the house & shake it"" - rather than spin or a club to get drunk. classy joint it is...& it has beats. DJ Tim Vickory is fantastic. It's also a good spot to start the night before going ""out-out"". Pros: FUNKY FUN SPOT. Good times to be had for sure. Cons: Service ahayt. Parking is a B**TCH! more

Sushi Groove is a fun place to go to for cocktails and sushi. I think the Lychee Martini could have more flavor but the sushi is good. Perhaps the bartender was having an off day. The atmosphere was fun and lively and I didn't feel like I was in a suburb and didn't have to cross the bridge on a Friday night. I'd come here again. Pros: Atmosphere and good food. I really liked the ambiance here. The sushi is overpriced and its good but not the best in the area. I think you pay more for the ambiance. Its not as big as I thought. Man, seriously the coolness that emanates out of that place is insane.... as you get to the front door of that place, you vaguely see an orange lighting with a shadowy figure of a hostess through the tinted door. Once you open the door and walk into the restaurant, I was just taken in by the overwhelming feel of freshness. Everyone was very nice but a bit edgy since it was really busy when my friend and I got there (was about 7:30pm, by the way... good idea to make RSVP). Even through the madness, the hostess kept us informed of what was happening and kept acknowledging us. Service was fantastic at this place... I do have to say the food is excellent. It's not really traditional in the sense that there are a lot of rolls with sauces, but they do have some items that are for those that enjoy traditional flavors. When my friend had gone to the restroom our waitress, Kimberley, came up to the table and we started to chat it up a bit. I found out that she was a DJ and learned that one of the waitress working there was the girl that placed second for ""Bone Girl"". She pointed her out and all i gotta say to say is ""FINE!!!!"". Check it out it's lots of fun. ..............Only complaint I have with this place is the parking, to bad the parking lot wasn't any bigger. I've been to Sushigroove many many times because it's by far one of my favorite restaurants in WC. If you don't feel like driving all the way to the city to have a great time...stay and spend your night at Sushigroove!! more

This place is by far the coolest place in WC to go on a weekend night. I went on Friday night and had the best time. It was my friend's bday and we partied all night and had the best time. Sushi to die for, beautiful people everywhere and the music was crankin. I had to go back on Saturday night just to show a friend what it was like. It's a great place to people watch and have just a cocktail too but you will end up gettin sushi no matter what cause once you see a fat tuna roll pass by on a honkin huge plate you will want one. This place was very fun and I had a little too many sake bombs. The dj spinning and the selection of the music just added the cherry on the topping. The place was packed, everybody in my party had a great time and the whole place seemed to one big party. The service was great the food did not take a long time because the place was packed. I have to say the prices are good to a point that I can become a regular here. What more can I say, you have to try the place and get ready to have a blast with great sushi and great sake bombs!!! The place when you first walk one is just like you're in a restaurant in the city. The service very good and knowledgeable (try the chef's special its awesome). So many drinks to choose from, great selection. Great vibe with the place everybody in the restaurant seemed to me having a great time. Definitely, Sushi Groove is my favorite place for sushi!!! Being a sushi lover and new to WC, I immediately asked around about a great sushi joint. Everyone's response was Sushi Groove. Also being a house music fan, I thought it was too good to be true. This kind of thing only exists in LA or NY or the city. But this place was great! I always look for new and original rolls to try and this place had a completely new menu - stuff I haven't seen anywhere! Granted, there were the staples on there (tempura roll, philly roll, spicy tuna etc.) but there were things on there I hadn't seen ever. The Love Me Tenderloin was amazing. I get two every time I go back. To top that, I heard some pretty decent house music for a suburb. Not sure if it turns into a club or not because I've always been out of there by 10 but would definitely recommend. Cool setting to boot. more

My friends and I were given a recommendation by another friend who wanted to try Sushi Groove out. It was a going away party for my friend and we wanted to make it a special time for her, unfortunately it wasn't. We were greeted by a gentleman who was covering for our waitress while she was on a break and he started out rather knowledgable about the food but we pegged him wrong. When we ordered our food we were told that our quantities would be more that what we received, and that our food would be served ""family style"" on a large platter but we requested otherwise (they said it wouldn't be a problem). As our food arrived we were disappointed to see that we received much less than what we were quoted, and that it came ""family style"" exactly how we didn't want it. When these issues were brought up to our waitress she said that the waiter was wrong about the quantities and she'd be glad to take orders for more food. She also added that the food came ""family style"" and basically that's that. In total I received 4 pieces of sushi to the 14 I was quoted, I truly left very hungry and didn't want to give them anymore satisfaction in making me more food. To add fuel to this already uncontrollable fire, we received the check and a 15% gratuity was added. We only had six people in our group, I thought that the gratuity policy only applied to groups larger than 10 or so. We looked on the menu to see if the gratuity clause was printed but it wasn't. I ""stumbled"" into this sushi restaurant by accident. This beautiful girl named Robanne assumed I had had too many, so she immediately offered me a non-alcoholic drink. I think it was called a lychee, it featured some sort of hawaiian sugar or something. Anyway, I wasn't drunk, even though I stumbled to this joint. but what the heck, I drank two of these and immediately felt relaxed and hungry. So I checked off a bunch of things that I couldn't pronounce and promptly received my food. I ate and ate and ate. I started to feel like something fishy was going on. So I drank another lychee. Then the pencil broke as I was checking off some more items. Robanne immediately offered me another pencil. So once again, I ate and ate some more. My head started swimming with thoughts of tuna and eel and squid and rice. Anyway, I got my bill and was pleasantly surprised. I paid and then went to Dan's and had a beer before catching a flight back to Scottsdale. This is an experience I will never forget. If you are visiting Walnut Creek, I highly recommend you visit. You will not be disappointed with the service or the food. And Robanne is pretty hot, too. Pros: great service and delicious sushi. great for date. more

First off, the atmosphere blew me away- did not feel like WC, more like SF/LA. The DJ was spinnin great tunes, the rolls were fab esp the Chef's Special which by far was the most creative piece of sushi I have ever had. The King Kong was a great one too. As for the service, it was wonderful. The server was top notch (she knew her sushi and was able to give us great recommendations) and the female manager was making her rounds all night throughout the restaurant. She came up to our table twice making sure everything was ok and was very attentive. She asked us if we ever tried sake (which we never have) and then bought us a round of the unfiltered sake which was awesome. This by far is WC's most valuable hideaway that I wish not everyone knew about cause once the word gets out which I am sure it will, it will be hard to even step foot in there w/o reservations.
