When I was young, my first job was for a veterinarian. I was an assistant. I loved my job. I knew then, I wanted to take care of dogs. It took many years, but my dream came true. I opened Susan's Southwest Kennels in 1999. A local Veterinarian helped me get started by looking up laws and regulations in our state, they are posted in my kennel. I thank Doc Post for his help.
I also consulted with another Veterinarian from the same office, she said there was a need for grooming in our area. I took her advice and began grooming. It took alot of practice, but wasn't that much different from preping for animal surgeries when I was young. I try to make grooming a pleasant experience, I take my time with them. I would rather have a happy dog, than speed thru several a day. I usually groom 3 per day. And at the same time, care for the dogs I am boarding. This is a busy happy place.
There are some dog breeds I do not board.
. I offer convenient hours, open 7 days a week. I try to work with each family according to their travel plans. I have large clean indoor and outdoor private kennels. I also have free treats, lots of TLC. I offer Baths before pickups and Grooming. Come home to a clean happy pet!
