The Scene
Sudwerk's most striking sight--once you've filed in through the lobby--is the bar. This grand circular structure sits in the middle of the room and borders enormous copper-colored beer kettles. The Davis location has a more clamorous feel to it than the Sacramento Sudwerk, thanks mostly to the rowdy college students that crowd in on the weekends. In the summer, don't miss the chance to chug or nibble outside in the landscaped Beer Garden.
The Food
The German sausages are top dogs on this menu, so don't pass up the four-sausage sampler from the appetizer page. Sudwerk offers a number of European specialty dishes, but snappy presentation aside, the food is essentially upscale Denny's. The award-winning beers are another matter entirely--again, their variety and top-to-bottom quality demand a sampler order, which gives you a shot glass' worth of every beer brewed on-site.
