DO NOT STAY HERE! SCAM! 10/18/2021

STAY AWAY! I made a reservation to stay here this past Friday evening, the email receipt I recieved said that if you arrive after 8pm there would be a key with an envelope in the main entry waiting for you. We arrived at 11pm, no key, no envelope. The four of us searched the property high and low for a key, tried all of the doors we could, looked under door mats, on top of and behind the sign, in every nook and cranny, then contemplated sleeping in the laundry room. There was no key anywhere, and no one answers the phone after hours. We had to drive an hour back in the direction we came to stay at the Best Western in Sonora (which I highly recommend, btw, the house cat, Miss Gray is the cutest). This morning, I contacted the owner, Judith, who flat out doesn't believe me and is treating it as a no show and therefore is refusing to refund me. Nice racket they have going on to swindle money out of unsuspecting travelers. Stay literally ANYWHERE else. more

Do NOT stay here - book the Cabins at Strawberry if available 2/6/2011

If I could give it no or negative stars, I would. Do NOT stay here. The proprietors are worst than incompetent. I had called to book a room here because we had stayed at the Cabins at Strawberry right down the road and loved the location. I was looking for a 2-BR cabin for our family of four plus another family of four. The gentleman who answered the phone said, he had a suite with 1 BR upstairs that had 2 queen beds and another room downstairs with 2 fold-out futon couches. I confirmed, "Oh, 2 bedrooms" and he said, "How many people do you have?" I said that we had 4 adults and 4 kids under 5 in our party and he indicated that the room would be large enough. Well, we get there and not only are there not 2BRs, the upstairs BR has a queen bed and a roll-out cot. Additionally, the "2nd BR" was the living room w/ 2 futon couches. The kitchen was also missing some basic necessities such as a cutting knife, colandar, and eating bowls - making it difficult to truly cook here. I mentioned to the proprietor that we had expected a 2nd BR given that the price was $190 vs. the $250 we had paid for 3BR at the Cabins at Strawberry. If the man had been gracious and apologized for the misunderstanding, I might have chalked it up to "Live and learn." But the way he responded to my comments, I realized that he knew exactly what he had done - that is, LIED, to us - and for that, I am posting my negative review everywhere more

Wonderful Stay!! 11/5/2010

Just got back from a two day stay at the Inn. Yes, the atmosphere has certainly changed! the evening bartender Kevin, is a doll. VERY SWEET and helpful!) it is a very beautiful area and I feel it is worth the $120.00 bucks a night. Please note that they are doing a lot of construction at this time. P.S. The dinners we had at Pinecrest Lake were excellent! Great cook. more

Kickback, and relax 11/3/2010

I haven't stayed overnite at the Inn for a long time, but we eat there on a fairly regular basis. We have a cabin in the area and there are just a few places to eat in Strawberry. We keep trying though because the cooks change regularly. It is hard to keep a business going year round due to the seasonal aspect of the area. The food has been great. It has one of the most beautiful views going! Breakfast is usually the best meal I have had there.Anyway, there are tons of great cabins to rent and the area is a undiscovered gem. Just leave your 'city' crap at home. Kick back, relax, hike, fish, ski, swim and listen to nature. more

GO and see for yourself! 10/28/2010

The weekend at Strawberry Inn was most enjoyable stay I had in 20 years traveling. The owners created outstanding atmosphere with European flavor...... original paintings & decorations, delicious home food, desserts and great service from European exchange students. The owners are very friendly and hospitable . I found the Hotel & Restaurant every day spotless. Someone is always cleaning. Go and see for yourself. more

Very peaceful visit 10/21/2010

We stayed here for two nights recently for a ski trip, with 2 adults and 2 kids. The location is very close to Dodge Ridge and Leland Snow Play Area making it very convenient. We had a downstairs room with the restaurant upstairs. The room was basic, two queen beds, nice view down to the river, bathroom with full bath/shower combo. The room was clean, basic motel grade, not a fancy place. A plus for us, the place was not crowded the weekend we were there so things were relatively peaceful. more

The location was beautiful 10/18/2010

The location is fantastic, the grounds neat and the scenery divine. The Inn itself was cute and clean. The room was simply furnished and not luxurious but at least not tacky and dark like many cabins, it was bright and clean. The linens were beautiful, I think that was my favorite thing about the room. The food is the restaurant was not epicurean but it wasn't bad for what it was. more

Very Scenic Location 10/7/2010

Well located for journey from San Francisco over high sierras to Yosemite. Very scenic location on river. Basic room and basic bar food. Kitchen closed at 8 and the place was deserted so felt obliged to go to bed at 9. more

Very charming hotel 10/5/2010

WE just got from 3 days of snow fun up and around Strawberry. The hotel is charming a nice. It was quiet. The place for dinner is Mia's in Cold springs about 10 minutes down the road. Great food. I think summer time their are allot more things to do around Strawberry. All in all would I return? Yes I would. Nice place to sleep. more

Charming place to go in the summer 9/30/2010

WE just got from 3 days of snow fun up and around Strawberry. The hotel is charming a nice. The pro's are that it was quiet most of the time. We stayed on the top floor so the noise from the bar and restaurant did disturb us. An ice machine would have been nicer then going down the bar and have to use a Picher. The service was good. This is defiantly not a local hangout, The bar area had allot of out of Towner’s, maybe late 20's to 40's. Stick with beer. They have about 6 taps. The place for dinner is Mia's in Cold springs about 10 minutes down the road. Great food. I think summer time their are allot more things to do around Strawberry. All in all would I return? Yes I would. Nice place to sleep. more

GO TO STRAWBERRY INN 9/28/2010

GO TO STRAWBERRY INN ON Hwy 108 in Strawberry, Ca. I had a wonderful experience. I made a reservation just for one night, but stayed three nights. My room was super clean with a river view. The paintings on the Hotel walls are delightful and entertaining for children of all ages. The owners touch and care shows everywhere. I am vegetarian and their restaurant menu is limited, but the owner made me special dishes just for my diet. I was impressed with the entire place. You must try too. more

STRAWBERRY INN HOTEL AND RESTAURANT 9/23/2010

I was driving my truck back home to Bridgeport on Highway 108 by the Strawberry store hoping to buy something. They were closed. It was around 10pm. Across the road i saw Strawberry Inn Hotel and restaurant. They just closed and were locking the door. I told them about my "hungry" situation. The owner said that they cannot let me go so far without eating. She unlocked the door and made me a pizza to go . She offered me to stay in the hotel over night free, just because I told her I was in Iraq. Unfortunatley i had to go home. my son had firts day o pre-school and i promised to be there. What a SERVICE!!!!!!!!! Go there, They are still goo people out there! Also, i saw just the bar area, but very, very nice place. more

inviting accomodations 9/20/2010

We stay here often in the winter for skiing as it is close to Dodge Ridge. This cute Inn is warm and welcome. With our school age kids, the four of us always feel welcome. The rooms are very comfortable, the common area/restaurant and bar are very family friendly too. And the food is really good! For a place that is 10 minutes from Dodge, with a beautiful view of the river, great snow play areas within walking distance, and warm and inviting accommodations, we recommend Strawberry Inn. more

loved staying here 9/16/2010

Charming Exteriror and Warm Interior 9/13/2010

Our motorcycle club had scheduled a two night summer weekend in the mountains to beat the valley heat and take advantage of beautiful Hwy 108 and the ride over the Sonora Pass. Six empty-nester couples on ten BMW bikes went on the ride. This place is ideally located for our plans with a charming exterior and warm interior decor. There is decent level parking, a restaurant and bar on site, and an amazing large, multi-level gazebo/outdoor dining area surrounded by forest that overlooks the river. When you consider the design and work that went into this place, the potential is staggering. In fact, we had stopped there for a nice lunch a few weeks earlier returning from a ride in Nevada. more

Very Sweet Setting 9/2/2010

The place was really clean, very cute setting, the rooms were ok for the price. The restaurant food was just ok, they shouldn't call their breakfast potato's "Strawberry Inn Potato's" when their just plain deep fried store bought!! The restaurant doesn't open untill 7:30 am for breakfast, with a lot skiers staying there they need to open earlier. They are the only restaurant for miles and they were out of items on their dinner menu on Saturday night and they only had handfull to choose from! We ordered med-rare cheese burgers and they all came murdered! The pizza was great, the bardenders and waitresses from Brazil were very freindly as were most of the owners and fun to talk to, but the owners should leave them alone and not hover over them and their every move! Great place for skiers and snowmobilers, very close to both! Overall for the money and location I'd go back again. more
