Strasburg Railroad

There's nothing better at bonding the intergeneration than riding a restored historic steam train. The 45 minute train ride is just right for the grandkids, plus its a great activity that the grandparents can participate in despite the summer heat! View the pastoral countryside and Amish farms. Coach was economical, toddlers - 3 yrs and under ride free. At the platform you can visit a toy store carrying Thomas the Tank Engine paraphernalia and our kids loved the cranky car ride. more

The Strasburg Railroad is a steam engine train that takes you for a ride through the countryside of Lancaster County. While you relax during this ride the conductors will tell you facts. At one point during the ride the train will slow and toot the horn which will echo and the kids always get a thrill from this. You can take the end of the one way and get off and have a picnic lunch and catch a later train if you chose. There is also a train shop and a dining room car which was made into a restaurant. The train is a popular attraction and you should get there early in the morning to get tickets for the ride you'd like. My kids liked to put pennies on the rails and have the train run over them flattening them. One note is that the train attaction can be costly for a family. more

The Strasburg Rail Road is a great place to take your family of all ages. It is great for railroad buffs, young children, people intereasted in refining old modles, and people intereasted in engineering. The railroad has an old time country feel, and great food to go along with it. It is a good vacation spot. more

Awesome place to go to visit. Great train ride takes you from one point to another on a 20 minute ride. Pricey but worth it. They ahve AMish buggys you can sit ina nd take pictures, Plus severasl other thigns to do such as ride a train pully car. visit the presidentail train. Food is available as well as lots of shops and stores. more

My son just loved it here. We took him to see Thomas the train when he was here and he just loved it. He went for a great ride and got to take all kinds of memeorable pictures. They have lots of other trains to see and a setup with sir topham hatt to. This is the very best attraction in strasburg I think and the kids are just crazy about it. more

If you have little ones who love Thomas, this is the place for you! They have an entire store devoted to Thomas the Tank engine. You can also go for a train ride, a couple of miles back and forth. Very reasonably priced. They also have a train museum across the street that has tons of old time train memorabilia. A nice day out for a family. more

This is a neat place. The restaurant is a nice place to eat. They have good prices and great food. I love their food. The staff is very friendly. They have trains you can ride. There is also a museum nearby. It is a great place to go for the whole family. I highly recommend going here. more

If you are in the Strasburg area it is likely that you are a train nut and this is a train ride that you must take. At Christmas time you can take a train ride with an authentic Santa Claus together with carolers singing in the cars. They also have coal/woods stoves burning in each car to keep the damp cold weather away. The ticket prices are very reasonable and the trains run continuously so you will be able to find a time that works for your schedule. A great experience for all train lovers. more

A very quaint train station nestled in the heart of Lancaster County. All train lovers both young and old will have a great time at Strasburg. At Christmas time there is a ride along with Santa in which carolers can be found throughout the coaches singing tunes of the season. This makes for wonderful holiday memories and absolutely will put you in the Christmas spirit. more
