It was easy to give Strand Brothers Service a five star rating. They just completed replacing our 13 year old AC/Furnace with a new unit. Pricing was competitive and they handled everything associated with getting energy rebates from Austin utilities and the gas company ($1786) plus rebates from Lennox. The installation crews were very professional and took care of several minor problems they discovered that were not part of original purchase price (no charge). I have built a home and completed significant remodeling of another and the Strand personnel were among the best I have encountered. Best of all was the quality of clean up at end of job and follow up to make sure everything was working OK. more

I needed a new dishwasher installed and extensive work on the pipes/valves under the kitchen sink. The technician, Paul Schultz, did the work in a very professional and expert manner, and was very courteous and explained the work thoroughly prior to beginning. The cost was reasonable, and Mr. Schultz arrived on time and completed the work in a timely manner. This company did a good job for me, and I recommend them to others. more

I had a problem with my water heater yesterday. Typical that when things go out, it happens on a weekend! I was relieved to find Strand Brother's 24/7 service online, and that someone could show up in less than an hour. \r Brandon was the plumber who arrived on time as promised. He quickly diagnosed the problem and was able to get the heater re-lit. He also showed me how to do it as well. \r I appreciate his professionalism and kindness in helping to resolve the issue so quickly. more

They recommended then installed a Navien tank less water heater. When time came for service/repair......not a qualified technician to be found. Started trying to get this problem fixed in April 2013, just spent the coldest weekend so far this winter with no hot water. Tired of cleaning up after these folks, everybody else wears boot covers but not these people. Same technician came out to fix this unit 3 times and failed, two times he tried to charge me for not fixing it. One technician was at least concerned enough to put in the time to try to get this resolved. Will never use this company again. I am really looking forward to finding another company that really does have ""expert service, guaranteed"" more

Very Unprofessional 9/16/2010

It's interesting that they only wear the slip covers over their shoes to come and do the estimate for the job. The workers never wore any, and instead used drop cloths to walk on. There was particles and dust from cutting the new ceiling vents all over my house. They did not confirm dates with us, and the supervisor never comes to talk to you when there's a problem. I would not recommend this company, and am extremely disappointed, since I honestly thought they had a reputation for being a good professional company. They had a lot of room for improvement, and it seems like they have very lazy management!! more

Overpriced and misleading 8/26/2009

Expect to pay over $200 to have your HVAC drain line flushed, yes, over $200 and it requires no parts and takes about 10 minutes. Oh yeah, they may also try to tell you that is not the real problem, that you really should replace the whole pan, it is pretty old after all, give me a break! If you have more than one problem, say a leaky faucet and an HVAC problem, that is two diagnostics at $70 a pop! Plus the repair! Move on to the next company, these guys are just too rich for my blood. more

I just paid $241.00 for a part that cost $44.00. And watching him have so many problems after installing the part I have my doubts that he did the right diagnosis. I have not found anyone reliable but I do know I will not use these people again. Is there honest people out there? I recommend the same for you. I feel totally ripped off. Unacceptable Response to Warranty Issue 7/8/2008

We had a new AC installed and the compressor went out while it was stilll under warranty (after 18 months). When we called to get it replaced, they quoted $1,544 labor. (the labor warranty was for 12 months and the parts warranty was for 5 years).\r \r I had someone else look at the problem and they said it would take about 3 hours labor. When I asked Strand Brothers if they would order the replacement compressor from Lennox, they refused.\r \r Make sure you understand the warranty terms if you do business with Strand Brothers. Big Business with the Family Touch 1/9/2008

I have been using Strand Bros. for years to service my heating and cooling systems. Their advertising plays up the Strand family, but it's not just a marketing gimmick. Don't be surprised if the matriarch personally answers the phone (even though she is in her 80s). One of her "boys" came out today to perform an energy audit and pricing for a new system. There was no hard sell for all the bells and whistles and he spent time explaining all of the rebate and discount programs. I have used other companies for service a couple of times, but never felt they were as competent or fair as Strand. more

Good a/c service 11/22/2007

This company nursed my old a/c unit along for a couple of years until it finally grew too worn to repair any more.\r I replaced my unit this year and am very glad I did since my electric bill was cut in half.\r They were able to get me a no payment/no interest deal for 1 year.\r All the technicians and repairmen I have dealt with have been very pleasant and knowledgeable. more
