So you think all car salesmen are complete scum? Well, if you're coming to Steve's Hometown Toyota, you would be correct in that assumption! Absolute scum! Initially, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth my experience with Billy seemed to be going. There was no pressure, no number circles. Yes, everything seemed great until we made an offer on the car. Prior to going to the dealership, we noted from the carfax that there were SIGNIFICANTLY MORE MILES on the car we were looking at than was listed on the dealer's website. However, when we brought this up we were assured we could bargain based on that. However, after driving all the way to Ontario based on that assumption......the company made it very clear they weren't willing to bargain at all, despite the 30% increase in mileage. HERE'S THE KICKER. After we left the lot, they RAISED THEIR ONLINE PRICE BY $7,000. Ludicrous. More than the car originally sold for, quite literally. They were rude in discussing the deal by phone, claiming they'd get back to us in five minutes and in reality taking 45+ for very simple questions. The back and forth was ridiculous, unprofessional, and absolutely disrespectful of the value of our time as serious buyers. In the end, we were sitting at the bank with a check, ready to pay the original price for the WRONG MILEAGE, and they wouldn't take it because they are FULL OF HIDDEN CHARGES. I can't even describe how negative this experience was. These scumbags are the epitome of why people hate car salesmen. Don't waste your time at this dealership. Go somewhere where you are actually treated with RESPECT and COURTESY, where you don't have to waste hours on GAMES and TRICKS. more

Best of the Treasure Valley 12/26/2009

I take my vehicle here for service and it is an absolute delight!! I'll kick back and watch the game and they'll wash my car and everything. The other day I came in and they explained everything to me, decided to see some of the other vehicles available and ended up driving home in a new Tundra. They paid the best on the trade and worked out a sweet deal on the new truck!! I love this Tundra it's powerful and runs smooth!! I couldn't have asked for more!! Pros: Salesmanship, Service, Customer satisfaction Cons: drive but worth it!! more

best place for a car 12/22/2009

I recently went to Hometown Toyota to purchase my mother a 60'th birthday present. I had shopped around and I can tell you this the other dealerships I visited were only interested in selling me price and what they wanted they were not listening to me. When I went to Ontario it was different. Dan Willmorth was our salesman and he took the time to explain the whole car. He then made sure my mother was the focal of all attention. he really made it her special day. I recommend this salesman to anybody thinking of a new car purchase. He is professional !!!!!! Pros: knowledge of products Cons: little out of way but worth the drive more

This is the Place to Buy!!! 12/22/2009

When i bought my Tundra a week ago the salesmen knew exactly what i was saying and what i needed. It was a fun experience. Before going to Steve's Toyota I thought all Auto dealers were the same. Just out to make a buck and get you in any car or truck they could without looking at your needs. Well When i went into hometown they treated me with respect. They found the perfect car for me at the right price. They even had a place for my children to play. They let me decide what a fair deal would be and everything. I'll be sure to go again and again for now on. It was worth the drive from Idaho City over. Pros: Professionalism, honest and great pricing. more

What a Great Place!!! 12/22/2009

I recently bought a Toyota Camry Hybrid. The sales representatives were up front and honest on all pricing, even went as far as to show the invoice on the car and was knowledgeable on every aspect and concern that i had. They treated me fairly right from the start and even offered me a turkey on the way out the door. Professionalism is at it's best here. I had been buying from other dealers across the Treasure Valley numerous times but after my experience at Hometown i can't see myself buying from any other. They treated me like i was part of the family!! Pros: Intergrity, Honesty, Friendly, Find what you need more

Buyer Beware! 9/18/2009

Buyer Beware, \r Steve's Hometown Toyota has been immensely difficult to work with. They performed typical Bait and Switch, not performing to standards of preferred buyer program, changing pricing despite criteria against changing member pricing. Forced purchase of expensive, poor extended warranty and then have been extremely slow in providing cancellation and refund of said extended warranty. Non-empathetic, and poor communication skills employed by salesmen. In fact salesman, called us (customer) and chewed us out for making complaint against them for not following criteria of preferred buyer program. Buyer beware! Cons: Bait and switch, lack of integrity, poor salesmanship more

Buyer Beware 9/7/2009

Unique, A miserable experience which resulted in NO purchase. I would suggest you take someone with you if you dare to shop with Steve's and record everything said to you. I was very disappointed in the dealership because I thought they were a step above the rest. I drove from Ketchhum, ID to learn my lesson. Buyer Beware!!! Cons: Honesty, Integrity/Ethical conduct more
