Great Pizza, Limited Parking 5/24/2006

John is right about the parking situation. Your best bet used to be parking on a sidestreet, nowdays so many of them have zone parking signs now. Try to grab a metered space on Armitage might be the way to go. However you get here, you should really enjoy the pizza and other foods here as well. Dining on their patio is a great option this time of year. They have been around for over 15 years that I know of. Cheers! more

Good pizza 5/24/2006

I have always liked Renalli's pizza. The outdoors seating is nice on a warm night, and the service is good. I have been here many times and never had a problem. This is a great place to have a first date. The one major downfall to this place is the parking. You can pretty much forget bringing a car here, because there are no garages and all of the people who live here grab the spots as they open up, and don't even think about parking your car in the open alley way on the side of the restaurant. It will get ticketed immediately. more

Great Chicago Pizza 1/5/2006

Ranalli's is one of Chicago's great old reliable pizza restaurants. Back in the days when rents were still affordable in Lincoln Park, I lived a few blocks from this place and came by frequently, especially when the weather was warm. It was always pleasant to sit under the trees and munch on their good thin crust pizza. Now they have locations all over the place, but you know they wouldn't be so successful if they weren't doing something right. Thin crust pizza was what they did right then and probably still is. They also make good sandwiches, and if you are a beer drinker, they have a pretty amazing selection here. The website refers to their location on Clark, but its the same food. http://www.ranallisonclark.com/ more

Enjoy the patio, but don't get your hopes up about the food 12/26/2005

If I didn't live right next to Ranalli's on Lincoln and I wasn't constantly enticed by its outdoor seating, I probably wouldn't go back. Don't get me wrong--I've had some perfectly good experiences there. It's just inconsistent. Sometimes the pizza is great, sometimes I've choked down a piece and thrown the rest in the garbage. It seems that they try to do too much with their menu. I say make 10 things and make them great. They say make 50 things and make them however you feel like making them that day. The patio is great, though! If you're looking to have a beer and sit outside, I would highly recommend Ranalli's. If you're looking to eat, well, do so at your own risk. Since they seem to predominantly portray themselves as a pizza/Italian restaurant, I would stick to that type of food. I mean, when you order a burrito at a pizza joint, it shouldn't be too surprising when it's awful, right? more
