Worst

This spot is nice during the day having many activities and all but it can defenitely be overrated as the best free spot in new york city

A beautiful view 6/12/2002

I've ridden the ferry several times, but have never gotten off and explored Staten Island. Bring your out-of-towners down here for the cheapest boat ride of all time -- and it has one of the best views. It's a nice, slow ride -- a nice time to chill out after a rugged day in the city. Pros: What a bargain, Great view more

Staten Island ferry is very cool! 6/10/2002

The SI ferry is the coolest ferry that is cool to ride in the summertime. You can see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Governor's Island. As a SI chick, i had my friends from other boroughs ride it and they loved it! All tourists have to ride to enjoy the feeling of the ferry in the Big Apple. more

ferry nice 5/20/2002

Panoramic views of downtown that can only be topped by views from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Can't wait until the new terminal opens in '03. more

Talk about a deal. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, this cruise to and from Staten Island is free. It's a great way to spend an afternoon. Running time is just shy of 25 minutes each way and the boat departs every half hour at the least busy time of night. That ensures that the entire journey can be done in an hour at the longest. (The Ferry sticks to its schedule.) So what do you do at the halfway point, for the five minutes between arrival on Staten Island and departure for Manhattan? Well, there's a really cool photo booth at the dock where you can superimpose four different hair-do's on your head. My friend and I spent as much time on the ride back giggling at the silly snapshots as we did admiring the approaching skyline. more

  • The Staten Island Ferry, once 50 cents, is now free. (It's perhaps the only New York attraction ever to go down in price.) In the summer, the 25-minute ride is a welcome escape from the city. Day...
