Talk about a deal. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, this cruise to and from Staten Island is free. It's a great way to spend an afternoon. Running time is just shy of 25 minutes each way and the boat departs every half hour at the least busy time of night. That ensures that the entire journey can be done in an hour at the longest. (The Ferry sticks to its schedule.) So what do you do at the halfway point, for the five minutes between arrival on Staten Island and departure for Manhattan? Well, there's a really cool photo booth at the dock where you can superimpose four different hair-do's on your head. My friend and I spent as much time on the ride back giggling at the silly snapshots as we did admiring the approaching skyline.
