If you live in this tri-state area or happen to be visiting and go into labor, I can only suggest one place to go for all your laboring, birthing and delivering needs. St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV, has a fabulous labor & delivery unit. When you go into this exclusive ward in the hospital which is away from the every day flow of normal hospital traffic, you are greeted with warm smiling faces. All of your laboring, birthing and delivering of your precious bundle of joy is done in one room, so there's no switching (rooms) around in the hospital. You are cared for with the utmost respect, compassion, understanding, and patience that you could possibly receive. Even their janitorial staff are friendly and courteous.
Your baby rooms in with you as long as you would like for them too. And your baby typically isn't on display for everyone and their brother to sit and google over. Your husband, boyfriend, significant other is always able to be there by your side through the entire process. Your family can come and go as they need to, all hours of the day and night. During all of my deliveries with my children, I was able to have those that are important to me by my side through the entire laboring and delivery process.
I have delivered all three of my children there and there's no other place that I would have chosen to have trusted my maternity care or my newborn children's care.
