Amazing mass 4/26/2011

We ended up at St. Anthony's for Easter after my wife walked in to visit on Good Friday. She works in the financial district and goes to the morning masses sometimes. But on Friday she went to a mass with the music there. And she came home that day still moved by it. So we packed up the kids on Sunday morning and drove in from Marshfield to go to mass there. And here I am on a Tuesday night, signing up for a City Search account so I can post a review for it. When my wife told me about Friday, she said there was something special about the music and the mass. The priest was ""normal"" and talked like a ""real"" peson. The music was done really well and it seemed like they really meant it. Sunday was amazing. The church was packed. They didn't skip andything, but the mass was over within 50 minutes. And the music was amazing. We go to a Life Teen mass once in awhile with our kids, and there's a band. But this was something else. I think we may be back next weekend. My wife told everyone at our family dinner, and I'm pretty sure a few of them are going to show up too. If you're looking for a church with something more than a regular mass do yourself a favor and check out this place. more

best catholic music mass anywhere 1/15/2009

Like some people, I find writing a review of a church kind of awkward. But, I've got to make a plug for this place... I came to St. Anthony's last year for Ash Wednesday. I work in the area, and just wanted to get mass over with and get my ashes and move on. Pros: music, schedule more

Great mass/music 6/3/2007

Great music and mass today at St. Anthony's in downtown Boston. Like some of the other reviewers, we had heard from a friend that the music at Arch Street was completly new and exciting, so we had to go in and see. We were stunned to see so many people singing and really getting into mass - a Catholic mass! Great ""vibe"" for lack of a better term. We will definitely be back soon. more

wonderful 3/24/2007

St. Anthony Shrine is the best in Boston. We attend the 4:00 Saturday Mass and love the Music and the whole experience. My 14-year old granddaughter who is a pretty tough critic, sings her heart out during Mass. We tell our neighbors and friends that they should give the Shrine a try on the weeknd. It is a great place to be. God bless! more

Great mass, music 9/18/2006

Although we live in Quincy, my wife and I have been attending Sunday mass at the Shrine regularly since Easter. We both grew up in Boston and knew Arch Street as a place to catch feast day masses or to light a candle. The Fransican Friars are patient, kind, welcoming people who always seem to have time to talk. Pros: right on the T, beautiful stained glass more
