Spring Meadow Farms

I took all my kids to this place to pick pumpkins we had a blast. We got the hot apple cider and looked all around at the Halloween decorations. It is an affordable place to take the kids and family to sight see. The attractions are limitless and fun for everyone. Go in the fall and winter for particular highlights. more

Spring Meadow is a garden shop designed to entertain your kids all day while you entertain yourself choosing the best annuals for your garden, pumpkins for your jack-o-lanterns, or wreath for your front door. Open year round there is always something going on. The petting zoo, with goats, and sheep and pot bellied pigs is the perfect way for city kids to get a close up look at farm animals. When it comes to picking pumpkins, no one does it better. There are piles of hay to jump in, scarecrows to stuff, ponies to ride and a hayride out to the pumpkin field. Also right on their property is some of the best pulled pork you could want. more

Unlike other garden centers I've reviewed, Spring Meadow Farms is more of a farm store that specializes in plants for the garden in spring. They have a decent selection of annuals and perennials--less stock than many places, but the plants are healthier than any you'll find at a chain store. But mostly I go because it's such a fun outing--a short drive into the country in northern Baltimore County (they may be just over the Carroll County line) and you'll get not only a chance to buy nice plants, but also really good ice cream and barbecue along with fun country store items--apple butter and candy sticks and things like that. The real fun is in the fall--Spring Meadow Farms has their own pumpkin patch and farm petting zoo so I spend a day with my extended family taking a hayride out to pick pumpkins, petting goats and sheep, playing in piles of hay, and taking pony rides. There's a large area with picnic tables so you can either bring your own picnic or indulge in some of their pulled pork barbecue and cider. Yum. I can hardly wait for October! more
