Avoid Spring Harbor! 4/2/2013

Dr. Noah Arnold, another vet at Spring Harbor Animal Hospital, was very greedy and not at all compassionate. He was more interested in getting paid the same day rather than care for my cat. He made no attempt to look at her or ask me what was wrong with her. I left and I will never go back. more

World Class Service with a Personal Touch 8/5/2010

I have been taking my animals here for almost five years now (since I moved to Madison) and I have always felt that the doctors and staff go above and beyond to be helpful and courteous. My vet, Dr. Jesse Sondel is truly one of a kind - he is caring, knowledgable, and friendly. He always explains all possible options and makes solid recommendations. I would highly recommend Spring Harbor to anyone. more

Couldn't be happier with Dr. Sondel 6/1/2010

Dr. Sondel is the best vet we have gone to (and we had tried several). He's absolutely wonderful with dogs and makes both the dog and owner feel relaxed. Our dog used to shake when he went to any other vet but he actually is excited about going into Spring Harbor. Our standard poodle had GI problems which other vets said required expensive tests and surgery but Dr. Sondel simply changed his diet and he's been fine for years. I've referred many friends and neighbors to Dr. Sondel and they all have been extremely pleased with him. Also, their prices are very reasonable at Spring Harbor and they always manage to fit you in if there's something that requires immediate attention. more

BEST OFA VET IN MIDWEST!!! 2/5/2010

Great facility for OFA'ing your dogs. We have brought our dogs here for 5 years now with EXCELLENT service. They are absolutely the experts in this field. People from across the midwest come for their OFA's to be done by Dr. Link. We had used our local vet for 15 years for our OFA'ing only to get average results with screaming dogs due to the discomfort. Dr. Link and his assistants are able to get these dogs up and on the table with NO DISCOMFORT at all. They are so good and able to do it so quickly (with NO anesthesia - which is HARD to find a vet who will do this!) that there is no mental trauma to the dogs at all which has not been the case for us in the past.\r \r I have a friend from the dog shows who just emailed me and said she'd be at Dr. Link's office in March for OFA'ing. She lives in St. Louis. YES ST. LOUIS! She drives all that way for Dr. Link. He's known quite well with dog show people as being the best in the Midwest!!!\r \r Recommend highly! more

Good place 8/25/2009

I have been taking my cat to see Dr. Sondel for about 2.5 years. My kittie has a chronic inflamation of his gums that is caused by an auto immune disease, he requires monthly steroid shots and dental cleanings twice a year. I really like Dr. Sondel, i had been dealing with this disease with my cat for a few years and had taken him to numerous vets and they all didn't have any idea how to treat him. Dr Sondel found a treatment that has made his life much better. The only problem i had there was once while my kittie was under to get a dental i asked them to cut out a few mats from his fur and whoever was doing that cut his skin and he had a huge gash that required stiches, then when the stiches were removed the cut opened up again and i had to rush him to the emergency clinic, he then had to wear one of those cone collars for 2 weeks. It was horrible, i felt so bad for him, i had to pay the emergency clinic but dr. sondel did follow up treatment for the cut for free, so i will st more

Old fashioned and not in a good way 4/6/2009

My opinion is that the kind of veterinary medicine practiced by Dr. Link is at best, old fashioned, and at worst too laissez faire for my taste. For most things this fact will never be a problem as veterinary medicine has changed SO little in the past 100 years, but sometimes, when it counts, not being up on the latest methods and techniques can truly impede the quality of an outcome. My dogs are my kids, and spending an extra few bucks for the chance at an excellent outcome (versus just a satisfactory one) would never be an issue for me. I feel that as a result of the care (or lack thereof...especially in terms of followup) I received at Spring Harbor my dog will never recover fully from his injuries. That said, I had GREAT experience with Dr. Sondel and have no problem recommending him for day-to-day stuff, and I am sure the same is true of Dr. Link...but if you have a difficult or complicated case I would look elsewhere for care. Go to the University or one of the Emergency/Specialt more

vet clinic 10/15/2008

. I would have gone to them for my dog's c-section but like someone else mentioned they do not have a vet on call and I had to go to the emergency clinic that was so expensive. Very good reproduction clinic. All the latest equipment. I really like Dr Sondel's enthusiasm. Also they do OFA without putting them under. more

Awesome Skilled Vets Know Their Stufd & Excellent Customer Service!!! 10/1/2008

All Three docs at Spring Harbor are the top of their class in providing quality care for your animals. I have been going to them for almost 10 years and they remain committed to ensuring your animals get the best care possible. They have quality diagnostics that other vet clinics don't always have. They have a full service breeding program. I've taken 6 litters of pups for care over the years as well as 12 dogs and 3 cats. I've had exemplary service and care for every animal. They carry a breeder book if you are interested in finding a quality breeder in the area. I Highly recommend this clinic. Did I mention that they are reasonably priced also? How could you ask for more? more

My Briards are my kids... 8/13/2008

...and I don't trust their health care to just anyone. You have to understand that not all vet clinics can afford to have all the equipment they have invested in. Many places have to send out for some lab results. SHAC can do that in-house and they get not only done in less than hour, but you are called with the results BY THE VET in less than an hour. Dr. Sondel recently did surgery on one of my dogs and I could not believe how pain-free she was post-op. The stitches were beautiful (confirmed by a medico) and the surgical site healed very quickly. The surgery was successful and I couldn't be more pleased. I think he is very professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting the best in care for their kids (I mean pets). more

Not a place for all dogs 5/7/2008

I have a German Shepherd that I brought in on more than one occassion. I noticed that the male vet was very uncomfortable around my dog. He informed me that he was afraid of German Shepherds because he had been bitten twice by them. His fear greatly impaired the quality of care and treatment he gave my dog. more

BEST vet experience in over forty years. 11/30/2007

I have been breeding dogs for over forty-five years. I have done business with dozens of veterinarians in three states over the years and I have NEVER done business with a veterinary clinic that has even been close to the competence that I enjoy at the Spring Harbor Animal Hospital. After going to several vet clinics in the Madison area I have been a devoted customer of the SHAC since 1995. I find the veterinarians and staff to be of top quality. I am a doctor myself and I know that a patient that is promptly seen for emergent care will do better than one that is brought in for services days or even weeks after the problem has been identified. Many people wait too long and then blame the professional for their complacency as in another of the comments on this site. Spring Harbor Animal Hospital is simply the best in town, bar none!! Extremely Pleased 7/30/2007

Dr. Sondel has been wonderful to my dogs. He has been kind, reasonable, and performed two surgeries to our satisfaction. I would definitely recommend this clinic. The only drawback is the business hours. more
