Beware of pump #7. On Tuesday, 4/29/2008, I stopped to gas up the comuter car (AT $3.499 A GALLON!). After the pay-at-the-pump routine, I removed the nozzle and selected Regular Unleaded. I turned to insert the nozzle into the car, and when I turned back around to see if the pump was ready to go, IT WAS ALREADY REGESTERING 0.01 GALLONS. I had not touched the lever, knowing that some pumps get unhappy when the lever is on before the pump is ready. An extra nickle a fill-up doesn't seem like much, but with oil companys reporting multi-billion dollar profits a quarter, it seems as though they would have the resources to maintain their distribution equipment. It's probably a check valve or something simple like that, and maybe the problem will be caught on the next inspection. . .
