I'm done with spectrum! My mother passed away in July, so of course we reported this to them at alpena office. Took death cert too. I inherited the house and planned on moving in. So we asked about service in our name as new customers. We were told we couldn't be considered new customers because my mom had me listed on her acct as someone spectrum could speak to if there were any problems, she was 88. It wasn't my acct I was simply someone that could assist my mom if help was needed. We couldn't get any new customer deals because of this and we never had spectrum before. Then they told us it would be easier to just take over my deceased mom's acct. However that meant we had to pay her acct up to date. No other utility co did this to us, they just erased her debt and had us continue on in our name. Not spectrum! We ended up agreeing on a certain amount we agreed to pay. After we paid that we got another bill demanding even more. We only had internet. Yet for two months we kept getting bills of over $145 when just internet costs $69.99. Arguing did no good. Filing a complaint didn't work either. Finally I had enough. As of tomorrow no more spectrum! We found internet service for half their price for a year for being new customers. In a year, our cost will still be $20 cheaper than spectrum. It's horrible when you have to deal with a company like this, after a death. Alpena main office has no friendly customer service person either. Only one but you rarely get her. Never again will we use spectrum. They need to vamp it up with all the streaming available today. You only need internet today and get apps to stream. Much cheaper and better selection. More internet co. Will be coming here soon, so they need to focus on better treatment of customers.
