Specialty Towing

My wife who's 9 months pregnant had her car stolen. The police found it and took it to this scumbag company. It hadn't been there more than 2 hours and they wanted $210! I understand if they impounded the car or towed it for some parking issue but this is different. As if we weren't violated enough by the thief who stole the car (which, by the way, contained our personal property for our impending overnight stay at the hospital which was also stolen), these criminals needed to profit off our misfortune too. They have no humanity and take advantage of people just as much as any rapist or child molester. It makes me wonder what the specialty in ""Specialty Towing"" really stands for. Extortion? more

Bogus Parking Tickets Issued.\r I parked out front for 5 mins, because I forgot my key card in my apt. When I walked back out, I had one of their ""Parking citiations"" on my windshield. When I called and inquired about it, I was told I would have to come in and pay a fine for my ""ticket"", no leeway what so ever, and then when I inquired about the parking codes, I was met with very colorful langauge. I have since logged complaints with various agencies, as well as the city of corona. \r DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS, and IF YOU MUST, VIDEO YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. \r So everyone else can see how ""wonderful"" they arent. more

I would not even give this company a negative star they were so bad. My car was towed and stored for 1 week until I was able to get the car out. When I went to pay the amount, they wanted to charge me for 10 days instead of 9, which then allowed then to charge a ""lien sale"" fee, which was an additional $70. They never provided any proof this was done when I asked. I was then told there was no manager present to speak with and the owner was not there either. The woman at the window said ""I am in charge, I am the only one here"". This company is unethical and uses extortion practices to steal money from people. I would never use this company for anything except a asscan to throw trash in. They are terrible. more

I had my car, registered and everything just a bit dirty directly in front of my office. Next day car was not there. I find out it was towed so i go to Specialty Towing and wow those people seemed like such Aholes! rude. Basically car was dirty, and parked in the lot over night, which i do all the time anyways, its a dead office parking lot, very small.... but its not fair, i had to pay about 300 buck just for nothing. ..but what pissed me off was that today at my apartment i see my other car is towed. Im more mad at the apt management cause they know who i am and they could have told me to do something with my car(it was a fixer up er, and yes i was getting it towed today) thats how i found out it was towed. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND IT'S PREDATORY TOWING PRACTICES! ""The last thing anybody should have to worry about after a car accident is whether the person towing their vehicle is going to rip them off and add to their trouble"" - Governor of Illinois, Illinois recently passed an act prohibiting companies like THIS ONE from appearing at accident scenes and ""and after assuring drivers that the cost of the tow will be covered by their insurance, haul the vehicle to an auto pound."" In the end they charge fees which are NOT EVEN COVERED BY INSURANCE. (California needs to jump on the boat and pass an act like this!) They claim to be a legitimate company (they proudly said so many times) SO WHY ARE THEY ENGAGING IN PREDATORY TOWING ACTIONS? My car was towed by Specialty Towing (What specialty??) from private property (my WORKPLACE) following my first car accident (IT WAS NOT IN THE STREET OR OBSTRUCTING TRAFFIC.) The tow driver, RICK PETERSON, hooked up my car, insisted that I NEEDED to have my car towed, that I couldn't leave it there, and that I couldn't drive it beause it was ""undrivable"" (Yet he later drove my car out of the driveway, onto the street, and into the truck bed). I told him, ""I CAN'T AFFORD THE TOW! I can't have my car towed!"" he said ""But we're already HERE!! Don't WORRY. Your insurance will cover it."" I said ""NO I don't think my insurance covers this"" (I have liability insurance) He said ""Your insurance will cover everything!"" I said ""HOLD ON i need to call my insurance company"" and while I was tied up on the phone with the insurance agent, he handed me his business card and DROVE OFF WITH MY CAR!! without a word!! I got off the phone with my insurance company (who, like i said, would not pay the towing company's fees) and I called Specialty Towing immediately asking where the hell my car was, and the girl said ""Your car is currently in tow"" and i said ""WHAT? WHERE IS IT GOING TO?"" she said it was going to their storage yard. I asked her to bring my car back, because it's MY car. She said ""We can't do that, it's currently in tow"" I said ""WHY?"" and she put me on hold while she ""talked to the driver"" after I was on hold for a good 10 or 15 minutes she returned to announce that the car was in their lot and that i was now responsible for tow fees and storage fee (WHAT STORAGE??? MY CAR HADN'T EVEN BEEN STORED!) i argued on the the phone with her, and argued in person when i got my car back but they just SMIRKED at me and said they couldn't waive my fees, and would keep my car if I did not pay them. I got my car back, and was so pissed I actually hired ANOTHER tow company to tow my car away from their CROOKED tow yard. I talked to Rick when I was retrieving my car and asked him WHY he just took off with my car and he rudely yelled(exact words): ""I GAVE you my card.. and then I LEFT! But It's not like I just left with your car!"" then he answered his phone and started yelling at the person on the phone (I was pretty scared) Sounds to me like he just left with my car. Giving someone a business card is done out of courtesy (NOT WHILE THE PERSON IS ON THE PHONE) and it does not mean I consented that he could leave with my car. I think it's absolutely DISGUSTING that companies like this make their money by hustling victims at accident scenes. Specialty Towing should be disgraced for taking advantage of people who have just been in accidents and are shaken up. In my case, this was my first car accident and it's sad to say that the worst part of the whole ordeal was dealing with the towing company! THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT DOWN. They illegally towed my truck because their driver was ""fishing"" which is illegal and my homeowners association told me they did not give any authorization or get notified whatsoever, I even put a note on my window with my phone number asking to be called if it needed to be moved, there were no parking spots avaliable. Don't try calling the police because the police have a contract with the tow yard so they lie for each other. My bill is 420 buck so far and it was towed on monday morning 3/1/10. My wife was involved in a motor vehicle accident while traveling in Corona. The Corona Police Department called Specialty Towing to assist and a tow truck driver named Ed arrived, within minutes Ed had my wife off the side of the road and in a safe place. I just cant express how professional and competent the driver and staff of Specialty Towing was during our time of need. I would suggest Specialty if in Corona to anyone for great service.
