I think this is my favorite place ever. Great food, great drinks, fantastic customer service. I try to have something new here every time I come and I have yet to have ANYTHING bad. Long story short, stop reading this review and go here now... You'll thank me later! more

This place is absolutely amazing. I discovered it a little over a year ago and I've been back every month since to try all their wonderful menu items. My personal favorites are the Coco Curry Panini and the Hunny Steak (with chicken Panini). As for sweets, the cookies, croissants , and 'Blended Cremes' are to die for! \r I can't wait until they expand this place. Seating is a little cramped but the food is so worth the wait. more

I almost hate reviewing this place because it is so good I don't want to give it away, or have it turn into something less than what it is. Typical "mom and pop" type of feel run entirely by two people. I've tried almost every panini, and the italian is still my favorite. Every tea/coffee/panini I have here is satisfying. I love this place! Being an FIU student I love that it is right next door and that they offer free wi-fi. This is one of the few gems in Miami. Trust every positive review. All food is fresh and organic. If you, like me, are tired of giving your money to coorporate restaurants that serve your body fake food...then give this place a try...you'll be addicted. I am! more

Superb Hidden Jem! This place is really all its pumped up to be. Tour of italy panini is a must have. Tea is also yummy. Take a laptop or good book and unwind, away from the whirlwind thats Miami. more

Very cute place to study/hang out near FIU. The Coco Curry panini was really good and surprisingly filling. Passion fruit tea was ok if you're really into tea. But next time I will probably come back for a frappe. more

I use to go to special tea all the time and actually liked the place, but they completely lost my business due to the fact that if i go there 10 times at different times they will only be open once. They are going to go out of business and the owner is going to wonder why!? Also they do not stay consistent with some of there food, one day they have this and one day they dont, one day they have cookies and they next 10 they dont. Place is just flat out unrelieable and i will no longer give them my business for how pourly they run theres! more

Super good. Don't let the plaza look detour you from going in. Inside it is awesome home feel cafe. Get the vanilla hazelnut oolong tea or Asian pear tea more

This is the cutest Tea House in town! It's run by a great!!! young couple, trying to make their dreams come true. We should have more people like them !!! They are trying to make a name for themselves while making the day for strangers a bit happier. They will cater to what you want. Trust me if they have it they will make it for you!!! They are here to please you. Give this lovely couple a chance... You will not regret it. Best tea, coffee, salads and sandwiches in town. Ohhh let's not leave out those home made cookies!! Bottom line Go!!!!! Today more

My go to spot 8/26/2010

By the name you automatically think it is only a tea lounge but in fact they have some of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever eaten. The prices are extremely reasonable with a very relaxed atmosphere. Bottom line- you will love this place! more

Forget Starbucks 8/26/2010

After meaning to stop by for months, I recently found my way to SpecialTEA and was totally hooked. I've tried every sandwich option, usually as a wrap but also as a panini, and they are all absolutely delicious. On top of their huge tea selection, they have a ton of coffee options with lattes and frozen drinks that put Starbucks to shame. They also have caffeine-free ""creme"" drinks that are like what fast food milkshakes dream of being when they grow up. My favorites are the S'mores one and the Mexican Xocolatl; my husband will murder you for Cake Batter. If your drink calls for milk, they'll make it with whatever kind you want, including soy milk or almond milk for people who are vegetarian or lactose intolerant. On top of all this, they have a drink fridge with delicious sodas made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. AND they have amazing fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and other desserts. This place is next to a Dunkin Donuts and I am sometimes tempted to run in there and demand to know why people are not in SpecialTEA instead. The prices are about the same as Starbucks and every single item is a hundred times more delicious. Go give them your money immediately. more

Best Tea I Ever Had! 8/13/2010

This is definitely a place to come together with friends to share a large pot of tea. They have an amazing selection of teas, and are extremely helpful in creating new and exciting flavors. Their sandwiches are amazing as well. My favorite on their current menu is the curry chicken with coconut dip. That coconut dip is out of this world! The service is has always been the best; calm comfortable friendly atmosphere. I enjoy having confidence in referring SpecialTea to anyone. They always take care of their customer. more

Can you make my tea Special for me please? 8/12/2010

I have been dubbed the pickiest and most demanding person anyone has ever met, with a passion for tea and light desserts in a relaxing setting. But I never knew where I could get such things in an environment that would catter to me and make me feel comfortable. You certainly can't get that at a restaurant! Then one day a good friend of mine passed on the word of this unique creation of Tea- but in a coffee house setting. Naturally I was there the next sampling some on their White India Oolong and having the best sandwich my body could ever crave, The ""Coco Curry"". Heaven in every bite and sip!!! I have never tasted such an explosion of tastes before in a sandwich!!!! I think the first week of my discovering it I went there every single day and ate the same thing every single day!!! I just can't seem to get enough of it!!! This place is so welcoming, and the owners are so welcoming and friendly, you feel like you have been friends for years!! I recommend SPECIAL TEA LOUNGE to everyone I meet!! more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 6/10/2010

This is the best sandwich shop in town. Don't let the name fool you. Yeah they got like 60 different teas and like 40 other drinks. But the panini's are the real attraction. Each one is lovingly hand crafted by a bearded man in a funny tshirt (thats the secret to tastiness.)\r Now, I'm not a big fan of salads, but the ones here are mighty filling, especially on a hot summer day with a cold arnaldo palmer.\r Try it, you wont be dissapointed. more

This place is awesomeeee and so chill I love it more

Went there on a Friday at 12 and it was completely closed... No one would answer the phone or anything. Giving it another try on Monday. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 12/8/2009

I've gone here a couple times in the last week. Its always pretty quiet and not blisteringly cold like some of the Starbucks I've been to.\r \r As for the tea, coffee and food, its fantastic. I generally drink Oolong which is hard to find in coffee/tea places (for whatever reason) but they have a very nice one (Oolong Kwai Flower). They also make a great cappucino which I consider a good measure for how well the barista knows his/her stuff. Not too much foam, but also foam that has staying power.\r \r The food is great here. The Tour of Italy Panini is probably my favorite sandwich of any place I've ever been to. \r \r As for the service, its fantastic. I ordered an Italian Soda today but they were out of club soda so the girl just gave me back my money and I went up to order something else. She comp'd me the cappucino I ordered since they didn't have club soda for the original drink I wanted. Thats the way to keep customers! more

Special Tea Lounge is a comfortable, attractive, inexpensive place to eat delicious paninis and desserts. They have a really good selection of tea, which is also available by the gram, and are open late. They also use eco-friendly packaging, and some of the teas and the shade-grown coffees are organic. Easily the best place to eat lunch within three miles of FIU campus. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 8/23/2009

I love going to SpecialTEA even though I am no longer an FIU student. It's a great place to hang out with friends, with comfortable couches and great board games (Scrabble, Taboo, etc.) Also, I love how they have over 20 varieties of teas and tisanes, along with their shade-grown coffee. All of their disposable cups are made from corn, they are completely non-allergenic, and are compostable too. Even their bathroom is environmentally friendly with the option to half-flush. Best part of all, this place is cheaper than Starbucks, and it has more of a homely feel to it. Last but not least, the owners are fantastic people. more
