Spanish Language Center 1/9/2011

Speaking Spanish has always been a goal of mine. After finally deciding to get started, I was thrilled with my experience at the Spanish Language Center. I was nervous getting started, but my professor was so patient, helpful, understanding, and not intimidating at all. Overall, I was very happy with how they taught us, and what I learned. I will be starting my next set of classes soon. I highly recommend the Spanish Language Center. more

Chicago's Best Spanish School 6/29/2010

After a few years of struggling to learn Spanish with Rosetta Stone, classes at another school in Chicago, self-taught materials, and Spanish-speaking friends, I was thrilled to have discovered the Spanish Language Center. I am learning to speak Spanish much faster than I expected at my own pace through their private lesson offering. Juan Cortez is a fantastic instructor and not only makes learning Spanish very natural and straightforward, but also enjoyable. I am delighted to have found a program that fits in with my busy schedule that is also very effective and look forward to continuing as a student. more

Great place to learn Spanish! 6/24/2010

I have been very interested in learning spanish and have been taking a weekly class with the Spanish Language Center. It has been a wonderful experience! My teacher is very helpful and there when I needed her. I have been taking the one hour class during my lunch hour at work and have enjoyed every second!\r I can't wait to continue with the Spanish Language Center.\r \r Thanks! Pros: Several locations and easy to schedule more

HIGH RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE SPANISH LANGUAGE CENTER 6/23/2010

I have been trying to learn Spanish for the past 3 years. Initially I used Rosetta Stone, and then took classes at another school. I tried to learn with a friend who speaks Spanish, but is not a teacher. Not much success! I have just finished my fifth private lesson with Jose Tuesta and I am very pleased with my progress in such a short time. I am speaking Spanish and learning the grammatical rules , at the same time, in a friendly conversational mode. My classes are at the downtown location which is very convenient. I intend to continue to take classes because I have now found the right school. more

Recommended Spanish Classes 4/16/2008

I am in my second session of Beginner classes. I feel I have learned a lot and learned it very quickly too. My teacher is very knowledgeable and has been a great teacher. She is a native speaker but also has teaching experience. The class sizes range from 1-10 people depending on how many people sign up. I started with another student and now I am by myself. Be prepared to devote a few hours to homework and vocab memorization every week. I took two years of Spanish in high school and I already feel like I have a better grasp on the language than I did then. I look forward to going to class every week because it is fun and I feel it is also highly useful. I would highly recommend Spanish Language Center. Pros: Parking is .25/hour in a lot, small class size, flexible scheduling Cons: It is expensive, but I feel it is worth it, and compared to other places, really not so bad. more

La mejor escuela de espanol en Chicago! 1/15/2008

I am a returning student at the Spanish Language Center. I took classes with them at their lakeview location for almost 2 years when they first opened. My experience was the best (as I did post an earlier review), then I did some traveling to practice my Spanish, got lazy, took a break from classes, and when I decided to come back to Spanish classes in 2006, I decided to explore other options for a change: BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART! After failed and very frustrating attempts at two other Spanish ""schools,"" I can HONESTLY say that there is no comparison with the quality of instruction recieved at SpanishLC in comparison with the rest. Elsewhere I found much improvisation and a lack of professionalism. Spanish Language Center and its instructors have set the standards too high for me. I am now back with them, feel at home, and plan on staying with them from this point. I STRONGLY recommend anyone who is truly interested in learning Spanish to give them a try. I now take conversational classes in their downtown location which is very convenient for me. Gracias amigos de Centro de Idioma Espanol! ;-) Pros: professionalism, flexibility, convenient locations, warm atmosphere more

Great Classes!! 11/15/2007

I took 2 classes with SLC, and was very lucky to have senor Juan Cortez as my teacher. After my introduction course, I felt that my Spanish skills definitely improved, therefore my decision to continue with the beginners course. Great classes, good materials, flexible schedule as far as re-scheduling if your agenda didn't work out. Will recommend to everyone who's interested in the Spanish language.\r Muchas gracias SLC y senor Cortez!\r \r Pros: study materials, teacher, accomodations, value more

My Spanish improved so much!! 8/1/2006

My classes were small and I got so much individual attention from my teachers. Re-scheduling was no problem, and I attended both in Lakeview near home and Downtown right after work. I plan on taking more classes from the spanish Language Center in the near future!\r Thanks Guys!\r SJ Pros: Small Class Size, Individual Attention, Wonderful People more
