Southern California Gun

I bought a pistol from So.Cal Guns quite a few years ago because the price was right!\r At the time I thaught the pistol was sold on consignment therefore not effecting the Cal. law of 1 pistol per month. Wasn't till after I bought and was in there again a week later trying to buy another consignment pistol that i was asked, ""wasn't that pistol you bought last week a used pistol?"" The sales person who asked me this was the same person who signed off on my paperwork on the previous sale so he knew what I was told, was led to believe and how the wool was pulled over my eyes. Normally this really wouldn't matter and I wouldn't have been the wiser, never having bought on consignment before, but since I wished to purchase so close to the previous sale I did and prevented me from buying the 2nd pistol.\r They were not willing to take my money or to hold the 2nd pistol for the required 30 days till my exemption expired because it was a consignment sale. Understood if I wasn't willing to pay upfront but they ""couldn't garauntee"" my paperwork wld still be good when that time came, wldn't pay the registered owner, place or even ask the registered owner to hold the pistol till I was again elligible!\r Lost out on a sweet deal, was lied to, or atleast misled on the facts. That and the fact that owner or ""big boss"" was then and has been on EVERY occassion I have had to deal with him since, been rude and abrassive makes me write this reveiw. I went in browsing one day and actually spotted a Mossberg that Ive always wanted. Not having the cash on me for a deposit, I told them I would be back. \r \r Next day first thing in the morning, GONE! ""But we can sell you this other one for more"". Wow, the upselling begins. \r \r Two days later, The piece is back for sale. So once again I call Chris and tell him that I will be in .\r So on the third trip in, First thing in the morning, oh, we sold it last night. \r \r But here it comes, --- ""We can order you a brand new one"". I asked if there might be any others that they could get and Chris simply shrugged his shoulders and walked away. \r \r Theres nothing but bait and switch at this place. \r \r So in the end, three trips, absolutley nothing acomplished other than wasting a bunch of gas and ALOT of headaches. I can guarantee that I will never even set foot in that shop ever again. Not sure what all the fussing is about. I went in there last Friday afternoon, and they were busy as hell. Even so, within my first 5 min of browsing I was asked by 3 different salesmen if I needed help with anything. All were patient and friendly. One of them even went out of his way to research one of my questions online. I told him I couldn't afford to buy yet and he still spent 10 min pulling out several handguns for me to compare. After reading some of these comments and then being treated so well, I felt they deserved a better review. Pros: nice selection, helpful service Cons: always busy more

The service at this store is absolutely horrible, the salesman I talked to was arrogant and stuck-up, he treated me like a child for lacking infinite knowledge in the field of firearms so I came back the next day and met with another salesman, I asked him for 12 gauge slugs, he brought me birdshot and when I told him he was incorrect he angrily stormed away and came back with my slugs. At the checkout I told the clerk I was new in town and was wondering where some good shotgun ranges were, he shrugged and gave me my receipt. The price of the S&W 442 (jframe revolver) is the lowest I've seen anywhere in california. The guys that work here know their guns. This is not your sporting goods store gun department where the guy behind the counter knows very little and cares even less. The people who work @ So Cal gun actually shoot guns, all types of different guns. They have a huge selection and if they don""t have it they will get it! \r I had trouble finding a Ruger 10/22 in a certain finish for my son. I searched for weeks and found it on line but with all the extra costs it was not worth it. I tried Turners 3 times... I once went in there to buy 12g hydrashok slugs. They told me they didnt exist. I insisted they did, and one of the salesmen looked in his ammo chart and confirmed, but not before the other clerk asked me ""Wut do ya need slugs fer? Hell I can rip you in half from here to there with buck shot..."". Nice. Its a shame when gun shop owner/operators dont know anything about the weapons they sell. While thats pretty typical, So Cal gun pushes that idea to the limit- they have proven to me on numerous occasions that they know absolutely nothing about firearms, unless it has to do with fud shotguns and birdshot. too bad. this used to be a real store. Today the staff is lazy and seriously arrogant. I have received incorrect information about magazine size, and availability. I never believed when my friends warned me on how bad Southern California Gun serviced their customers until I actually went and shopped there. My special order form was never even looked at after 2 months until I had to make a call. The guys behind the counters had attitude problems, not to mention there was an old grumpy guy who told you that he’d get back to you on your orders but never bothered to write any of your contact information down. Last but not least, they violated the Terms of Payment and charged me extra, simply because they didn’t want to lose a couple of dollars on behave of their own mistakes. Southern California Gun has a pretty good selection at moderate prices. However, enter it at your own risk if you want to deal with their poor customer service and bad business practices, on top of being put on hold forever and have your orders delayed. Worst customer service for a gun store in San Diego, and I've had countless bad experiences with them. They're all about the money and not the service. Go to some well-reputable gun stores like American Shooting Center, Turner's Outdoorsman, California Police Equipment, and Discount Gun Mart before even thinking about step in and waste your time at the Southern California gun. Also, good luck waiting for your orders if you don't appear to be a white Christian. Your order sheet will be stacked at the bottom of the pile or ""lost"". I try calling this place to simply find out if they have a gun in stock and end up getting an automated message where I have to select 'speak with a sales associate' then waiting five minutes while an out-of-reception radio station blasts in my ear, then all goes silent for a minute, then some guy's voice mail comes on and he asks me to 'leave a short message'.
