Best

Take a look at the single-ingredient based prix-fixe menu and try it if it at all intrigues you. With dishes like Unagi-Banana Timbale and Ocean Trout with lobster-sweet potato...

Worst

i've been going to sola for a few years and have very much enjoyed their offerings, but last night was a big disappointment -- skimpy wine servings, lukewarm and thick soup, grisl...

stellar 10/24/2006

I don't think I've had such a great meal in Chicago recently. Menu is superb and beer/wine list as well. I really enjoyed the simple and sophisticated atmosphere as well as presentation. Great spot for a date or small group dining. Pros: food, service, decor Cons: location more

Great Food, Great Service...w/out the attitude! 10/9/2006

I would highly recommend Sola Restaurant! I went for brunch this past weekend and I can't wait to go back for dinner! The food was so affordable and high quality! The service was impeccable and the atmosphere and ambiance was chic yet welcoming. more

Must Visit 6/23/2006

Sola has quickly become my favorite restaurant since it's opening last winter. The food is consistently good. The short ribs are my all-time favorite dinner dish. Among the wonderful restaurants in Chicago, Sola is a must! Pros: Yummy short ribs more

Best Meal in a Long Time 6/12/2006

If you like artichokes and truffles, you will love this place. My wife and I recently relocated from NY and this is the best, most unique meal we have had since we moved. The artichokes fritters were awesome, the tuna was cooked to perfection and the cod was the best piece of fish I've had in a long time. Our waitress was knowledgable, friendly and prompt. There was a nice buzz to the room and the price was right. more

Ultimate Dining Experience 3/17/2006

I say that becuase from the moment we walked in until the moment we left... the entire experience was truly the best. We have recently moved from NYC and are extremely hard to please but our meal at Sola was above and beyond. From the attention to service to the delicious desserts. There were so many appetizers that looked yummy that we decided to order five and split an entree. We had the Tuna Tartar, crab cakes, Onion Tartlet, Asian Pear salad and pot stickers. All were amazing. When the Black Cod, which is soaked in Miso for three days came out... We decided then that this was truly the best meal we've had since in Chicago (and we eat out a lot). Wine, Desserts, Port and Coffee -- all great. We have absolutely no complaints (which is so rare ;-)). Thank you for such a wonderful time and dinner. Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance Cons: Far from Loop more

delicious and sophisticated 3/8/2006

We dined at Sola last Sunday and enjoyed a wonderful evening. We were really pleased with the beautiful, soothing decor and found the food to be outstanding. The restaurant was crowded, definitely get a reservation, but the service was still excellent. It is a wonderful fine dining addition to the neighborhood and we will definitely return. more

Management Issues 2/6/2006

6 friends and I were excited to try this new place. We went with our BYOB since as of reservation time this place was BYOB and we were ready to enjoy a fun evening. We were informed as we were seated that we would be charged $15 per bottle since it was not BYOB as of 2/3,the day we arrived. The owner let us know that he was a business man and would gladly fill our table with people that would buy wine off his menu if we didnt like the fee.He cared little that we were not informed of the change. While the food is ok, it will be difficult for us to recommend this place after having been treated so rudely. It will be interesting to see if it suffers the same fate as Aqualina, Charlies on Leavitt and Cork. They were new and busy at first, now they are gone! more

Sola is brand new, and you would think that they have been open for a lot longer. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. Attentive, but not over-bearing. I shared some dishes with a friend - the onion tartlet and crab cakes, and the sea scallops and the grouper - and everything was very tasty! I would highly recommend Sola. Only downside is that is seems somewhat small if you are looking to go with a large group - i would say def. make reservations so they can be prepared for you. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Small seating area more
