The food is very good (the veggie spring rolls are great!) and the service is so courteous. They do the little things right too. My dad is slightly old, and found their medium spicy dish to be spicy and they offered to blend it with less spicy sauce at no cost. They were so polite about something that was not their fault to begin with. We go here every few weeks :) more

Best Thai food. 1/18/2011

My family and I love thai food we had tried Every thai restaurants in Portland OR and we though that some restaurants were great and that thats what thai food tasted like (never been in Thailand) but when we went to SOI 9 we had the most amazing Experience! the food is delicious, Rich exotic flavors, authentic food, , perfect combinations of herbs and spices, nice atmosphere, great service and very yummy drinks, I had a papaya salad and spicy beef curry (panag nua) my family had Pad thai, peek gai tod and everything was excellent! this is the only place we go to now because this is what Thai food should really taste like! more

Soi 9 food is authentic Thai food 10/28/2010

My parents and I live in Thailand. We went to Portland last month. We stayed in Portland for 2 weeks. At that time, my mom really miss Thai food. I told her that Thai food outside Thailand is not the real Thai food so don't expect too much. \r \r After we went to Soi 9, I was totally wrong!!! It's unbelievable....My mom really loved it. The food was extremely perfect. The atmosphere and services were so good. Soi 9's food is authentic Thai food, I would say.\r \r Absolutely, we went there 4 times in 2 weeks. We loved Satay Gai, Kao Soi Kai, Prawns Clay Pot, Green Curry, Panang Nua…..um…everything is very yummy. If we have a chance to visit Portland again, we will definitely come back for Soi 9. \r \r I would recommend if you wanna try authentic Thai food, don’t miss Soi 9!!!\r more

Real street Thai food 10/18/2010

I've been here like 4 or 5 times and will find any excuse to come back! \r \r First the ambiance, decor, style everything is amazing. This is an excellent date place for sure and great for groups. All the drinks I've had were made well and just so good. \r \r Now onto the food, I'm not going to waste time in discussing anything other than the Poo Ping and the Herb fish. IF everything else in this restaurant sucked I would still give this place 5 stars because these two dishes is like sex in your mouth! I can' t begin to describe how amazing it is, it would be like if heaven had a club for platinum members if only there was such a thing but you get the idea.\r \r The desserts are amazing as well especially the Purple sticky rice with custard! different I like it.\r \r The only thing that could be better about this place is if it was closer to my house! more

Welcome Portland's best thai restaurant 8/22/2010

Looking for a restaurant open past 9pm and wound up at the brand new Soi 9. Absolutely the best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. I thought it was better than Typhoon, Red Onion, Chaba Thai and all of the usual bests in Portland. The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was perfection. The owner suggested the Boat Noodles to me and I can't wait to go back for more. The restaurant is stylish and comfortable, the service was great ..prices very reasonable...hope Soi 9 makes it... more
