Dear BewareH, You have definately been misinformed about the blog Smile Implant Victims and Orphans. This blog was NOT put up by Teich or anyone affiliated with him. It was put up by me, Deborah Archer, a victim of SIC. In fact, if you saw the Channel 2 news report by David Goldstein you will find me in it. I'm sitting in the front row the second person from the left (as you view it), I'm wearing black and maroom. Teich took my $19,000.00 up front and didn't complete my treatment just like most everyone else. If you want valid evidence I was a victim and that the blog is mine, log onto the blog and leave me a message; I will then send you a personal email with my phone number, I'll show you what I call my 'invoice of rip-off' of the $19,000.00 and anything else you may need proof of. Beware of Smile Implant Center and the bogus sight put up by the company itself called:\r Smile Implant Victims and Orphans.\r We have been scammed and taken by this arrogant, sociopath of a dentist.\r \r We have had all the same waste of time and run around that everyone else had including meetings with Teich which he had recorded by his office personnel.\r My husband paid the finance company in full because they were no help to us.\r \r Eleven broken teeth, preposterous ill fitting teeth, Jaw pain, headaches, TMJ and promises of refunds by his henchman Mike Snyder\r We live in fear of these $25,000 teeth failing.\r It's ironic that we should have this fear in addition to the pain he constantly has isn't it?\r We just don't have the money to re-do what we felt was a huge sum of money.. to give my husband a better quality of life in comparison to his dentures he wore.\r This has not improved his life, it has been a nightmare.\r \r We have had another dentist fix as well as he could, the worst of the worst, his lowers which were way to big for his mouth for an additional $6,000 dollars\r \r We retained a lawyer who finally gave up the suit when Teich filed for bankruptcy.\r We are out of options and this criminal should be in jail for fraud, malpractice and even manslaughter for the woman who died in his chair.\r \r His license is up for review with the California dental board in August.\r But whats going to prevent him from going to another state and opening another office like he's done in the past? more

Woman Goes to Smile Implant Center in 6/8/2012

Woman Goes to Smile Implant Center in Newport Beach, Dies; Daughter of Deceased Wins Malpractice Suit By Yasmin Nouh Thu., Jun. 7 2012 at 3:32 PM Los Angeles resident Paula Kane went to the Smile Implant Center in Newport Beach for dental implants after seeing a newspaper advertisement in January 2010. When she entered the facility around 9:30 a.m., anesthesiologist Dr. Barry Friedberg administered her drugs while she stayed awake--Kane's anesthesia of choice for the procedure known as ""oral conscious sedation."" Hours later, she went into respiratory arrest; her blood turned dark, according to one of the dental assistants present; deadly combination of propofol--the same drug that killed Michael Jackson--along with benzodiazepines had shut down Kane's respiratory system. When she was taken to the hospital, doctors diagnosed her as brain dead. A few days later, her daughter, Tanisha Mitchell, took the 57-year-old off life support. Mitchell filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the center's owner, Dr. Thomas Teich, and Friedberg; Orange County jurors found both men guilty of wrongful death two years later on May 22, 2012. Teich did not have a permit to administer oral conscious sedation, while Friedberg had been unregistered with the Dental Board of California for general anesthesia. ""I would think you don't expect to go in for dental implants and be overdosed on propofol and die especially when that patient has gone in thinking [he or she] will get drugs like valium,"" said Mitchell's attorney Jeffrey Wolf of Heimanson and Wolf, LLP in Los Angeles. The verdict outlined $635,000 for pain and suffering damages, but was then reduced to $250,000 per California's cap on non-economic damages. Both men will equally split the cost. Teich, who still practices in Newport Beach, is not unfamiliar to malpractice lawsuits. He's been charged with medical malpractice twice before in California, and is currently involved in 13 other malpractice cases. Teich moved to California from Arizona several years after the Arizona Board of Dental Examiners revoked his license in August, 1994 due to insurance fraud, repeated acts of gross negligence and unprofessional conduct among other charges. He spent eight months in federal prison for committing the felony of mail fraud, according to a stipulation agreement. Six years later, he got his license back on a probationary basis in 1999, during which he applied and obtained a California dental license in 2002. Even after the move, the malpractice suits piled up against Teich, to the point that Richard DeCuir, executive officer of the state's dental board, filed a complaint in April, 2011 requesting the board revoke Teich's license, citing record of failing to upkeep medical records, personal injury against patients, unprofessional conduct and gross negligence again. DeCuir filed the complaint in April, 2011; four months later, Teich paid $72,400 in an arbitration award to a former patient for injury including nerve damage in another lawsuit. DeCuir's accusations are currently still pending a decision according to Russ Heimerich, spokesperson for the Department of Consumer Affairs. The Medical Board of California has yet to subject Friedberg to any disciplinary actions. Friedberg, who describes himself as ""your friendly, neighborhood anesthesiologist"" on his website, continues to practice anesthesiology, and run a private, nonprofit foundation called Goldilocks Anesthesia. He authored Getting Over, Going Under: 5 Things You Must Know Before Anesthesia, and spoke about anesthesia to various outlets during the Michael Jackson trial. more

Smile Implant Center 5/22/2012

I can't say enough about my experience with the Smile Implant Center in Newport Beach. Doctors, technicians, staff, and lab artists are Professional, highly skilled, take pride in their work, they are warm, and caring. They are ethical and evaluations and recommendations are right on. A mix of crowns and implants were done and it was a major job. No charge for X-rays and reasonable prices made my work affordable. Having it all completed at one location, unlike other dentist where a job is divided between a dentist office, periodontist office and an offsite lab made no sense to me and is too expensive. Thank you Smile Implant Center! I recommend you highly and I am totally impressed by you. more

I love this dentist! 1/5/2012

I wish they would let me give them 10 stars! I am an older senior and thought I was too old to get implants. The Smile Implant Center did my implants in two visits. one for the free exam and X-Rays and next time i went in in the morning my new teeth, much better than my originasl were ready for me at the end f that day. The price was greattoo and I felt less pain than getting a filling, not bad at all. I am recommending Smile Implant to all my family and friends. more

Really nice people and very professional 12/14/2011

I was really nervous about having a lot of dental work done to get implants but I needed them badly. I am just over 61 years old and my own teeth had failed yet I just could not learn to live with dentures. Smile Implant Center was super fsair about the price they charged and they give you free X-Rays, Free exam and all kins of stuff like that but best fr me s they did all my work in ONE DAY! It didn't hurt a bit because they also give you free anesthesia that really works. If you need or think you need dental implants, go to Smile Implatn Center. You will be glad you did! more

Made my teeth look 22 years old again and they are so nice! 12/8/2011

I read the ads from the Smile Implant Center, about how they give you free exams, CT-Scans and X-Rays and how they develop a treatment plan to give you implants as good as your original teeth, all for free before you decide if you are going ahead with implants but I didn't really believe it. I was sure they would say ""But you have to pay first and we will re-bate you later."" But that is not what happened. They were not pushy at all and all those things, anesthesia too, really are free! I was nervous about getting implants but it was easy. I hated my old dentures. I told friends I had rocks in my mouth becuase I couldn't speak clearly. Now I feel great and my teeth look like they did when I was 22 years old. The staff at the Smile Implant Center is so very nice and they do great work. I would recommend them to everyone. more

Be Warned about Smile Implant Center's Refund Process!!! 12/1/2011

I 'm really unhappy with the Smile Implant Center!!! It only took Smile Implant a couple of minutes to get my credit card number and charged me $2625 on October 21, 2011. However, when I requested for a refund because I got sick and not able to do the implant procedure, their financial representative told me I won more

DENTAL NIGHTMARE NEGLIGENCE 8/7/2011

This place is indescribale. First of all let me say that all the ""Good"" reviews are written by employees. The lobby is FILLED with disgruntled patients. I won't even spare you the ugly details of the nighmare we have endured for the last year and a half. A broken tooth a month. A total of 10 Hours upon hours of waiting for a technician. Of most I really don't think have actually graduated. You can plan on a 6 hour dental visit. Your time? Invaluable to them!! The most unprofessional business ever run. THEY ARE REPORTED TO THE DEPT CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THE CALIFORNIA DENTAL ASSOC. more

WATCH OUT THIS PLACE! 7/7/2011

Came here for free consultation, waited 2 hours. While in waiting room, 4 or 5 ""coordinaters"" came in to greet me and asked the same questions over and over again. Then the doctor came, he is very good and knowlegeable. After that one coordinator presented with treatment plan, I told him I will think about if for a couple of days. Then surprise! I was notified by daily credit monitoring company that they ran credit check on me without my authorization or approval. I specifically told him we are doing home loans, dont want to run credit check, it lowers my score. I did not even put down my social security number, dont know how they even ran it. Maybe by birth date, drivers license number and street address. I am very upset! WATCH OUT when you fill out the form here, dont even give them your real name or address or birth date or license number until you have decided to do the work here. more

GREAT WORK!!!!....... GREAT PRICE!!!! 5/9/2011

I made a mistake about two years ago. I signed onto this insurance that you have to use their dentists, and then I found out that they're mostly third world dentists. So this bridge thats here is not a very good bridge. Its good that its coming out. But he had to take the original bridge off which was beautiful bridgework, gold bridgework. Now, I'm had trouble with a tooth in there, when I'm chewing the food gets stuck under the bridge. It caused my teeth around to decay. I know its hard to clean underneath bridges, very hard. So once you get an implant, you can just use your floss and Waterpik and its like a tooth. more

Wow!!!!..... They looked beautiful & natural! 5/9/2011

I had my surgery two days ago on Tuesday, and today is Thursday and I have my teeth. I came in as a Doubting Thomas because you dont go anywhere and get all this stuff free. I thought as soon as I got there, theyll tell me, However before you got to pay this and we will refund you that. But no, they were very pleasant. They werent pushy or overbearing or anything. They explained everything beautifully. I was afraid at first because I had no idea what to expect. But I had such a pure hatred for my denture that I decided that Id go for it. What the heck. So I did it and Im very happy about it. Its so much better for me now because my tongue touches the roof of my mouth. I felt like I always had something horrible in my mouth with my denture. I would tell people that I was carrying a rock in my mouth; it was so uncomfortable. But now they look beautiful. So natural to me. Theyre shaped to my face, like when I was 22 and I had teeth. Id recommend it to everyone, yes I would. They do a beautiful job and theyre very wonderful people to deal with. It was amazing to me how they did it because I was talking not to you maybe, but to someone, and someone came in to say Well Ill give you the medication, these pills. And youll be going to sleep. And I said, Okay, sure, right. And they gave me the medication and Im laying there, head back, reciting the 23rd Psalm which I always do when Im upset and I got to the last verse and the next thing I knew, it was over. They were waking me up saying it was time to go home. And thats all I ever heard. And I said, Wow. more

""I no longer worry about my mouth"" 4/22/2011

My dad gave me an ad from a newspaper, and two friends said I should go to Dr. Teich. Both of them had, so I did.\r \r Really the first impression that registered with me was that everything that he said turned out to be right. I mean, and sense. Every single thing has been great and that means a lot to me.\r Ive probably been into the offices 40 times. I had really, really bad teeth. And when I was a little over a year old, about thirteen months, I almost starved to death. And also when I was in my early twenties, I was in a lot of fights.\r My teeth were so infected and unhealthy that they were genuinely threatening my life. He said its either gonna be his way or he wouldnt treat me at all. He said these are the things that I want to do and thats what weve got to do. I trusted him and my health has gotten better and better and better, and now I have a mouth that has no infections. Im still rebuilding, adding teeth, but I have no infections. My whole health, my whole body, my whole outlook on life is better and stronger now because I dont have that huge thing dragging me down. Hes made a gigantic difference in my life.\r \r It didnt just cost me a lot of time but also a lot of money, but the big thing was a lot of worry. I was always worried about my mouth and I dont worry anymore. If I have a problem, I call immediately, they get me in, they take of it, they make it go away and I like that. more
