Keep Rollin' 6/17/2009

My family will miss Skate Queen! My family of 5 enjoys skating together. We tried ROLLERLAND WEST at 7325 Calmont in West Fort Worth tonight (Wednesday) and were very happy with the friendly employees and the music was great... they even played our requests. We actually saw another family from Weatherford who were also impressed... hope to see more and know we will make new friends... we are happy to keep on rollin'! more

Nostalgia 4/8/2009

It is an escape for us "40 something" year olds. A place of comfort, tradition, exercise, home. What a novelty is this fast-paced, I need it now world. more

Be glad you have a decent place to skate 5/16/2008

I don't appreciate the meant-to-be-funny remarks about this rink (see other post if it's still there) Be glad you have a decent place to skate! We relo'd. to a much smaller town and the rink here went out of business. Overhead is HIGH (especially insurance w/sue-happy public these days) and people have become almost too lazy (IMO) to go skate--so there isn't much impetus to open a skating rink. I think this rink is fine. It may not be huge, but it's pretty clean and the floor is a good, even skate-able surface. The people who run it are extremely kind and good. Weatherford's lucky to have this and people should be glad and support it. Most kids I see could use the exercise, too. Oh and their parents!!! too!!! (I always skate w/my kids as I loved to skate when I was their age.) Wish we had a rink here-even a modest one. more

You are the skating queen! 4/16/2006

I wish my skate skills were as great as making funny pun titles for these reviews that I write every night to make enough money to feed my children's addiction to 70's funk music and skating. When I take them skating I take them here because unlike the other spelling ok skate: skeet it is clean and not that nasty we all have a fun time skeeting all over each other and the floor. more

Not my favorite 4/16/2006

Skate Queen is the perfect setting for a teenage slasher movie. You enter into a tiny lobby. The door to the rink is locked. Someone behind glass has to let you in. Now you've made it in and you are in a run-down rink, with stained carpet, old tables, a boring concession stand and some old codger taking care of rentals. You get on the rink, the lights start flashing and the old codger goes up to a booth to call out games (limbo, etc.) and play music you had on 45's. In a movie, this would not end well. Since it is the only skating rink around, we endured our share of birthday parties at Skate Queen. Don't even think of dropping off your middle-schooler there on a weekend evening. more
