not good 12/9/2011

sorry new owners not good, bad service, bad waitresses, not good, I loved this diner before new owners, never again and live in neighborhood and always went there, only good thing is very nice bus boy more

DOWNHILL FAST 10/15/2010

Silver star has gone downhill fast since it changed owners over the summer. The old owner, Nick, treated you like a family member, and I had been going there for 20 years. Now, the new owner and his family have the personality of wet mops, and the service is terrible. The servers dont know the menu and ignore customers, and get their orders wrong. The food is usually cold by the time you get it, and/or wrong, and it is not good like it used to be. Definatley not fresh. The portions are smaller, and the prices are higher. Silver Star is off my list of places to go. What a shame, it used to be my favorite. Nick, whereever you are, why did you sell???? more

never going back 10/9/2010

We have been to this diner numerous times and always liked it. However, ever since they changed owners, our last 2 experiences were awful. The last one was particularly bad with our waitress, who had a cough, actually blowing on my kids meal to cool it off so she could eat it. My husband and I were shocked! She brought the wrong dinner to my other kids, brought their meals out AND dessert before bringing our dinner out and waiting for our dinner was forever!! There weren't even four other people in the place. The waitress was clueless and left us with having to find a new diner in the area. more

Late nite eats 9/8/2005

Great little diner located right on Hempstead Turnpike with a large menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are open late at night so you can grab a bite whenever. The food is so good that there is usually a wait for a table....but not a long wait. more

A great local diner conviently located on Hempstead Turrnpike. They offer a large variety of food items on the menu. The Silver Star diner is open late nights. more
