Silhouette Urban Mind-Body Fitness

After reading the last review from Tracy o, I can agree that a few months ago, the club had WAY too many men working there. Trainers, instructors, front desk staff, the horrible manager.... BUT since then, the owner has turned it back around. ALL women, hands on instructors and no funny business in the club anymore. A WOMEN's healthclub should have WOMEN employees! It was like that in the past, and now it's like that again and I couldn't be happier. The staff is great, even though it's a tight-knit group of employees. The club is running smoother, and every member seems to be noticing the positive changes made in the club. Good riddance to the ridiculous male staff and moving onward with the friendly, knowledgable, and genuine female staff. \r Great introduction of new classes, i LOVE the juices and don't understand the complaint of them tasting horrible. Theyre made from fresh fruit and vegetables... theyre not going to taste sweet and they're made wrong if they do! They're perfect and just what you need in a HEALTHCLUB!\r The club is NOT supposed to be PACKED at all times. Who wants to fight for use of the equipment? Or fall over other members in a class? That makes no sense! The intimacy of a CLUB versus a crowded GYM is highly valued and sought after by women. And if you prefer a cheap, smelly, overcrowded gym packed with men who will be hitting on you - join a different gym. Silhouette is clean, organized, intimate, affordable, and offers so many things these other gyms never can or will. more

The worst health club ever. This is not all women anymore. There is a man General Manager and men trainers and instructors now. I would not mind if they were any good, small children can train and teach better than them. I heard this club was great, I will never listen to anyone again. Also their is not enough good classes, also there is never anyone there. My one week membership back in July was a joke no matter when I went I was always the only one in there. LADIES THAT IS A RED FLAG. ALWAYS PUSHING THEIR TRAINING AND THEIR HORRIBLE JUICES AND SHAKES. AND YOU HAVE TO BE LOCKED INTO A ONE YEAR CONTRACT. NOT WORTH WHAT THEY CHARGE. I JOINED NEW YORK SPORTS CLUB, BEST MOVE I MADE. LADIES THINK BEFORE YOU SIGN THE DOTTED LINE. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS.......BEWARE more

I have visited many gyms and this one has to be by far the best. Not only is it just for women but it is clean and welcoming. The staff actually cares enough to help you achieve your goals. There are so many different classes and I can take as many as I want with my membership. They are always there to help whenever I have any questions and I get welcomed each time I walk through the door. I am so happy I finally found a club that I can work out in and feel comfortable. more

Silhouette is THE perfect gym for women. You feel it when you enter the doors. It's has the cleanliness, state-of-the-art machines (all working), showers, sauna, massage room, juice bar, and not to mention a message board that gives up-to-date info on the benefits of healthy eating/exercise regimens. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. The staff, trainers and class instructors are dedicated to help you reach your fitness goals. Classes are geared toward any age group and instructors are quite knowledgable in their field of expertise. I highly recommend this gym...I've been a member for four years and counting. more

This is an AMAZING fitness club! Everyone from the owner to the receptionist is dedicated to making sure you reach your fitness goals. They create such a supportive environment while helping you find the right balance of nutrition and exercise for YOUR body. I have to write a rave review about this gym. I am a person who ""hates"" gyms and I am amazed that I found one that I not only like but look forward to going to. The gym has a city vibe to it and the atmosphere is that of a spa. When I first joined Silhouette's I signed a one year contract which comes with one free month, one free personal training session and a baset of goodies. The contract is very straight forward and extremely fair. I can't say enough about the staff. Both Bianaca and Francine will absoutely do anything to make you feel comfortable, inspired and most of all welcomed. I have delt with the owner Bill in my tender at Silhouette and while he is very strick about fitness he is extemely fair. I would recommend Silhouette's to anyone of my friends/family that wanted to lose weight and calm the mind at the same time. more

I came across Silhouette Urban Mind-Body Fitness from Groupon and reserved my classes. On my first day I was given a tour by Bianca a staff member. I was so intrigued with how beautiful the gym was that I signed up to become a member. Unfortunately, a day after signing up for my membership I came to the realization that I reside in The Bronx, work in Manhatten and traveling to the gym in Brooklyn would have been overwhelming. I read that a 3 day cancelation without any penalty or further obligation is stipulated in the membership agreement. Therefore, I called and spoke with Francine and she kindly stated that she understands and she will speak with the owner Bill. Later that evening I received a call from Bill and he stated that he canceled my membership and that I still have 4 visits left through Groupon and I was welcome to return. My experience with the staff was great ,they are courteous and considerate and also provide exceptional service! I do recommend my family and friends or anyone residing in Brooklyn. more

They are deceiving from beginning to end. First I was told I could cancel my membership at any time. When I called to cancel they told me I couldnt because I didnt pay full price to join (which was conveniantly left out when i joined). When my year was about up I called to see exactly when my contract was expiring. I was told that it expired at the end of May and if I didnt want to continue I had to have a written cancellation in their hands by may 19th. I did that and Bill still tried to charge me. He said he would give my a refund by June 5th. June 5th came and went and surprise NO REFUND more

I have lived in the area of bay ridge my whole life, and not yet have I seen a health club like silhouette. All the problems that I encountered in other gyms have disappeared. The health club is immaculate and a feeling of warmth comes across when entering the club. This club is a all womans facility, so you dont feel intimidated as well as uncomfortable working out. The team at silhouette is welcoming, warm, and accommodating. more

I bought a 5 class pass for this place through Groupon and they gave me a full interrogation every time I came in for a class. On my last and 5th class they said I'd used all my classes and I'd have to pay extra.... actually I had technically only taken 3 because one time an instructor didn't show up at all. I explained that the system had allowed me to register and then sent and email that I had zero classes remaining, but she demanded to know what dates I had attended (as if I knew this information off the top of my head) like she was trying to trip me up and catch me in a lie. As I got my calendar out of my purse to tell her the exact dates, she decided to completely ignore me. She started talking loudly to other clients and wouldn't make eye contact with me, so I just left. I understand that some businesses are overwhelmed by new Groupon clients, and there are sometimes technical glitches, but there was no reason to be so outright rude. I did sign up for the class and took the train for an hour to Bay Ridge expecting to take it. It is a shame because their belly dancing instructor is really great. Too bad they are so disorganized and scaring away clients who might actually want to take classes there. more

Workers are imcompetent,they just know how to push their super shakes witch are has no good taste. only one guy was doing good, and they fired him. My bad experience today. couple of days before I froze my payment $70 for one month.When i was talking to a girl on the phone, i asked clearly about fee for this operation , if they have it. She didnt tell that i will be charged $16 fee. And today I found out that my balance in the bank is negative. and i must pay a bank's fee now. They screw me.For me its not about the money. Its is about their stupid service. When i called today to figure out how and why, they wanted to give me an email of their financial department . on my question whom i should contact to, they say they dont know exactly. bull sht, obviously the guy just didnt want to deal with it. when I signed in, i didnt know all the rules, and no one told that i have to go to gym for a year and pay for it, and this person who made me a member knew that i had no idea what i was getting into. okay was my mistake, didnt read f-ing contract. classes are not bad, its nice their. but i dont like one more thing, we are paying about $70-90 per month ..and when i came for zumba class, first time in my life zumba, i couldn t get the rythm and moves, and this teacher even didnt try to help me with it, there were only 2 girls except me and a teacher. i didnt know that i am paying for service like this. They will not ask u if u need help with machine, or if u ask they dont know it. common! MY ADVICE - DONT GO ! DONT JOIN! ITS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR AWFUL SERVICE. more

i had a bad experience with them. although i have to say they have a clean facility..and the classes they offer are pretty good. if you are looking for gym membership, $70 a month is kind of expensive unless you have the time and money, considering there are ppl who pay $100 for an entire year. they will offer you an on the spot discount and if you dont take it then and there, the offer might not be available much longer. just know that if you do decide to join, you are signing for a 1 year contract, in which the only way to get out of is a. move out of state or b. file for state disability. more

THIS ""GYM"" FRAUDED AND SCAMMED ME. THEY KEPT MY CHECKING AND CREDIT INFORMATION AND CHARGED ME AMOUNTS TOTALING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS YEARS AFTER MY MEMBERSHIP WAS UP!!!!! I HAD TO CONSTANTLY CONTACT MY BANK'S FRAUD DEPARTMENT, OPEN UP INVESTIGATIONS AND CHANGE ALL OF MY ACCOUNT INFO TO GET MY MONEY BACK AND STOP THEM FROM SCAMMING ME!!!!!! ALL OF THE WORKERS THERE ARE IMCOMPETENT AND CLAIM THEY HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO FIX ANYTHING!!!! THEY ARE ALL YOUNG STUPID KIDS WHO CAN'T ADD, KEEP TRACK OF THEIR FEW MEMBERS, OR WORK A COMPUTER DATABASE OR HANDLE ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION. THEY ARE FRAUDULENT SCAM ARTISTS THAT SAVE ALL YOUR INFO TO RIP YOU OFF WHEN THEY LOSE MEMBERS!!!!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS AND GO TO HARBOR FITNESS LIKE I SHOULD HAVE!!! more

You should definitely go to Harbor or NYSC before coming here. this tiny gum with only 3 treadmills and limited hours is also a rip off!!! They refused to let me out of my contract when I began working later hours and was unable to get to the gym. At NYSC and Harbor, you are allowed a life and can get out of contract easily, not to mention later hours!!! more
