I can't say enough great things about Shred . He is an outstanding tattooer and extremely well rounded artist!! For about a year I had been searching the chicagoland area for someone to design a tattoo that I had been wanting. A big eyed characture of my dog and I . Simple enough right?? Wrong! Trying to find an artist in Chicago that actually drew anything other than traditional art was frustrating. When I came across the few, and I mean few artists in Chicago that claimed to be custom artists I was disappointed when viewing there portfolios. Until one day, while waiting for a friend to arrive at midway airport. Lucky for me her plane was delayed for 3 hours. Bored and hungry I decided to venture off and go get some food . While driving aimlessly down a side street in search of food I noticed a tattoo studio with a beautifully painted sign. What drew me to the sign was that it was so bold and colorful . I couldn't stop thinking about that fabulous black cat smoking a cigarette while eating. I decided I was gonna stop in there on my way back to the airport. Best decision of my life! I was pleasantly greeted by the owner Shred. I flipped through his portfolio and was just in aww of his work. Not only does he do the most amazing work that I have ever seen he does a huge variety of different styles of art. That's impressive! Shred is really an extremely easy person to talk to with no attitude. Very professional and you can tell when speaking to him he takes pride in his work and really cares about what he tattoos on people . Shred did my tattoo a few weeks later and Its more wonderful than I could have ever imagined it to be. Go check him out you wont be disappointed!! more

Awesome 5/26/2011

I don't even know where to begin. Shred made my first tattoo experience wonderful and enjoyable. I had no idea what to do, but Shred was super accommodating and made himself available to help me through the entire way. When I first decided I wanted a tattoo, i did a ton of research and sent out some e-mails to a few different artists. Some artists took over a week to respond, and all of them took more than 4 days. Except one. Shred answered my e-mail in less than 12 hours, and told me to come into so we could talk about what i wanted to do. I had a vague idea of what I wanted and some text I wanted incorporated, however, for the most part, I was kinda lost. Shred came up with the an amazing design that blew me out of the water. His work and portfolio speaks for itself. It's absolutely phenomenal. Look it up. However, there are a lot of great artists, and what sets Shred apart, is his customer service and making sure that I was comfortable and satisfied every step of the way. I can't recommend him enough and will go to him for all my future ink. more

Hands down the best Tattoo artist in Chicago 12/21/2010

This place is the best. I was looking for a place for my first tattoo and decided to check out Shred because he was in my neighborhood. I had a very specific design for my tattoo in mind but i didnt know how to get it in paper. shred told me to trust him with it and i could not be more pleased with the result. he really cares about making his pieces perfect. I was unsure about what to do with the coloring and i trusted him and thank God i did. i would 100% recommend him to anyone!!! i already told a few of my friends to go to him and they got the same results. Derrick Rose is one of his loyal clients and if he approves what more than you need to Pick Shred's Inferno!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TO THIS GUY more

Caring staff, great art 10/18/2010

I went to Shred's cuz my brother has gotten a few tattoos from there. Shred's employee James has even designed some sweet designs for my brother. This was my first tattoo and Shred's Inferno and James made my experience very comfortable. Not only did James ease my nerves with his easy-going and simple ""nice guy"" personality, but he showed concerned when I got a little light-headed halfway through my tattoo. After I cool back down, he continues on my tattoo and did a BEAUTIFUL job. (note: it's a ichthus, black only but shaded on my wrist.) They say once you get a tattoo, you're going to want another and it's true, I do! And I'll be going back to Shred's Inferno!! more

I thought one day i might just stop in and see whats up with this Shred's Inferno tattoo shop just to see if they can fix up my tattoo. Best TAT Shop In Illinois 10/7/2010

Shred is an excellent Tattoo artist that can really rip up any tatto design you want. I have known him for years and wouldn't even consider another tatto joint. To most people that have been at his shop Shred is a local celebrity. If you want the best tattoo around I would book an appointment today!! more

I Did The Research and Got The Best!!! 9/21/2010

I spent two years formulating my tattoo idea and wanted to go to the best artist. I searched all across the country and Shred was the only tattoo artist in Chicago that truly impressed me. He took the time to redraw my tattoo, so I would have options to choose from. He was very professional and personable. He took my ideas along with his amazing artistic talent and created a master piece. Everyone's jaws drop when I show them my tattoo! The shop is also very clean. I couldn't have asked for a better tattoo experience. Thanks again Shred! more

Impressive! 9/21/2010

A few months ago my husband and I were searching for an artist to do some tattoos on us. My husband wanted a portrait and I wanted to start my Day of the Dead sleeve.We searched and searched and searched in our area (northside) going into countless shops and reviewing them online. Being an art teacher and an artist myself my expectations were high. I started to think they were a little too high and contemplated not even getting a tattoo at all. Nothing against the shops I went into I just felt like they were all offering the same type of art and that wasn't what my husband and I were looking for. Months later on a business trip to California I saw a man with some breathtaking tattoo work . I proceeded to inquire about his beautiful tattoos thinking I was going to be extending my trip to get tattooed only to find out all of his work was done by Shred at Shred's Inferno in Chicago. Strange how things happen sometimes! Immediately after getting home we went straight to Shred's to talk about getting our tattoos. I thought for sure he was going to have an attitude to go along with his amazing artwork. I was so wrong! He was very kind, educated in art, and extremely easy to talk to.The shop was clean and the staff was delightful. My husband and I got our tattoos by Shred and they are even more glorious than what I ever thought was possible. People stop me constantly to see my tattoo its a great feeling. I am proud to have a Shred tattoo he is definatly someone you can trust with your ideas and your skin for that matter! more

Shred,s Inferno the best in Chicago! 7/31/2010

If he is good enough for Bulls star Derrick Rose, He is good enough for me Had a Van Halen 1984 album cover done on my inner left arm....and it came out perfect!!! the guy has mad skills !!! If you want quality work done at a reasonable price, check him out . I highly recommend him. Nobody will ever put another drop of ink on me but him. Pros: The best artist in the city IMO more

Top-notch 5/4/2010

I had done a lot of research prior to getting my tattoo here. It was my 3rd but my first custom job. From the beginning, the experience was awesome. First, Shred responded rather quickly to my initial email, because I had some questions about how the process worked. A few days later I brought in 2 photos. We tossed around some ideas and scheduled the job. I came back a week later (he's usually booked about 3 weeks in advance but I caught an opening) and he did the work. I was on the table for about 2.5 hours but it went quickly. We talked about music, hometowns, Cubs, etc. Pros: Extremely talented artist; personable and professional Cons: Absolutely none more

Shred's Inferno might be ""Chicago Tattooings"" best kept secret...This guy could hold his own with anyone out there. He is so diverse in what he is able to do...from portraits, black & grays, to some real sick vibrant color stuff. You can take him your idea(s) and he makes it so much better than you could have imagined!!! I recently got my son's name w/ the Aries symbol shaded in the background, so simple, yet everyone I have shown it to is blown away by it...My MoM even likes it - haha - For real tho...don't waste your time hunting around shops like I did, or think you have to go far away to find some great artist - he's here, in our own backyard, and he calls himself...SHRED!!!!! Most talented tattooist EVER 3/17/2010

I saw a friends work done by Shred, it was so amazing I had to buy a plane ticket to have a tattoo by him. Now my other 6 tattoos look like they were done by children, I got a portrait of my 3 sons and they are so amazingly lifelike! Such skill and talents! I loved his fun, easy going attitude, very easy to talk to and made my time go faster! A very clean, sterile environment. Don't settle for less than the best and trust me Shred blows everyone else out of the water! Pros: A true artist more

BEST Tattoo shop PERIOD 1/27/2010

I absolutely LOVE Shred! He's done several of my husband and his friends tattoo's. I've gotten two from him, both with really special and personal meaning, and I couldn't be happier with either of them. Shred is patient, understanding, creative, laid back......everything you could hope for in a tattoo artist. I refuse to ""cheat"" on Shred with another artist lol!
