Shoppers Corner is my favorite grocery store in Santa Cruz. It's small but you can find great quality foods here.

Shopper's Corner began in 1977 with the sale of one of many Espindola chain markets to tow of its store managers Ed Calwell and Carl Schwartz. After a year of accumulated debt and hard times with the post-Depression era, the two couldn't break even. In 1939 they sold the market to tow other Espindola employees, Emmett "Bud" Beauregard and Vincent Williams, from the Pacific Avenue store. As the story goes, they bought the market for a dollar - 50 cents apiece, and about a $6,000 debt.. Shopper's offers up a wide variety of fresh local produce -- both organic and commercial -- 150 types of imported and domestic cheese,gourmet pastas,salsas,sauces,and a great selection of fresh-daily bread from all the top local bakeries. Plus all the usual staples you'd expect from your neighborhood's grocer. Shopper's is one of the last old-time meat markets around,staffed with highly-skilled and entertaining butchers. We get fresh local fish 7 days a week,sell only ultra-fresh USDA Choice Prime Beef.
