Used to be good, now packed and greedy 3/1/2012

Holy money grubbers, Batman! I used to love this studio a few years ago when it was unpacked and $10 a class. Now it's nearly $20 a class to be jammed into a tiny room with waaaaay too many people. There are no locker rooms or showers. If you need to change, you have to go in one of their two tiny bathroom stalls. The only reason I once loved this studio was Shawn and Sharon, who teach Ashtanga and Restorative Flow, respectively. Now on to the part that irritates the heck out of me. Here's the deal: I was given a GIFT of an auto-pay package for a year and the last payment fell through apparently. Even though I never went to the studio for 8+ months of that year (I broke my foot), they hounded me for that month payment. Um, check your records, guys - I never went to a class. Oh right, and this was a GIFT. How is it my responsibility to pay this? And no, I'm not making this up. I couldn't believe it either. One of the managers, Megan I think it is, is dreadful - very sweet sounding, but the words that actually come out of her mouth are rude and threatening. How does that even work? She called me several times a week to try and squeeze that $99 payment out of me that wasn't even my responsibility, which I very nicely (at first) told her was not my responsibility and to check her records. So what did they do, despite knowing all this? Instead of being a courteous group of ""yogis"" with a busy business, they send me to collections for $99. Wow. Really? Is that even legal? I'll have to check into it. I am fed up with these people and am seriously disappointed in their behavior and greed. I hope Shawn and Sharon go work at a different studio, because I would gladly take their classes elsewhere (they are amazing teachers). Sorry for such a horrible review, but it needs to be said so that either people can avoid this studio and patronize a better place, or so that this studio knows to take it upon themselves to improve and provide people a more genuine experience, and less of a ""I need your credit card now"" vibe. more

I was amazed at how much fun I was having too! Trisha and Jesse worked me hard while making me smile and laugh as the hour passed. I find myself missing the camaraderie almost as much as the expert instruction. Pilates takes mental energy and the descriptive approaches given and encouragement along the way are best in class! Thank you to Cassidy and her tremendous staff! TRY THEM OUT! more

Poor Business Practices 7/30/2011

I finally felt it was time to write a review about the extremely poor business practices at Sherry Goldstein's Yoga Sanctuary. I've been going to this studio every since I came to Las Vegas - over a year ago. I have a consistent yoga practice and I searched the Las Vegas community for the studio with the highest quality teachers and largest class schedule. I found the Yoga Sanctuary through the internet and it also happens to be close to my home. On several occasions I've had issues with a particular front desk person. First, I brought a $100 bill to pay for my class package and she gave me a tremendous hassle about it. I couldn't figure out why you can use this bill everywhere else in town but not at the yoga studio. They can't seem to find a method to check the bills with. How about writing the person's name & drivers license number on the bill and if it comes back you have all of their personal I.D. to contact them or the police?? Sounds simple... Next I came to class and waited for the teacher to show up. We were told she went to the wrong studio and was on her way. It would be 20 minutes. I waited 35 minutes and finally left. My time is limited and I felt like they should compensate me and the other students with a free class. There wasn't even an ""I'm sorry"". Today I went to pay for a ""drop in"" which is $17 and the same front desk person with the $100 bill issue told me that it had been determined that I live out of state and I would have to pay $20 for class. The owner was standing behind the desk when I explained that I live 1/2 time in Vegas and 1/2 time in California. She explained to me that they have to be ""consistent"". I'm not sure where I've been inconsistent, but I chose to leave and I will not be returning. It's a shame that this yoga studio has such ""unyogic"" business practices. I owned a yoga studio in California for 10 years. We had a great reputation and we treated our customers like gold. We felt that our studio was a service to the community and should reflect the philosophy of joining the mind, body and spirit. It was our goal to ""be the change we wanted to see in the world"" (Gandhi). It's time for Las Vegas yoga students to realize that this is not the way a studio should be run. It's time for a new studio to be created where teachers & students feel a sense of peace and harmony and are treated with the utmost respect and kindness. It's sad to see people attend a studio just because there is no other competition. The good thing is that everything changes and this will too! more

I love it, I love it, I love it! 1/12/2010

Since my first yoga experience here, I got hooked on this place. I noticed that there is quite a wide variety of people who visit ----- longtime yoga students, newbies (like me), hard bodies, not so hard bodies (like me) - it's great! Trust me when I say there is something for everyone -- different yoga styles, basics to advanced classes. The teachers have incredible energy and those who play music have great mixes. I like to challenge myself so I've started taking stronger classes. I sweat EVERYTIME I go! My body feels AMAZING! Pros: Get great workout in every class! Love the teachers more

Only Authentic Yoga Studio in Vegas 10/3/2009

I'm serious about my yoga and the teachers who are training it and the Yoga Sanctuary teachers are far, far superior to any of the other yoga instructors around town. I took classes at the hot yoga studios and the instructors were more like gym instructors or personal trainers. They may throw in a few words about ""mind, body and spirit"" but you can tell they're not serious yogis. They come with this gym mentality and it shows through. There are also pilates, dance and fitness studios here that toss in some yoga classes I guess as filler --- but why would someone want to practice yoga in a space not sincerely devoted to yoga?? I don't get it. I want to study in a real yoga studio. I think Yoga Sanctuary all shows their dedication by their guest yoga teachers. They bring in some of the best instructors on earth like Seane Corn, Ashley Turner and Annie Carpenter to teach special events. I'm grateful that they care enough to bring their students something more. Pros: Their Yoga Teachers Are The Real Thing! more

Believe the reviews! Yoga Sanctuary Rocks! 8/9/2009

From the reviews I read online I thought this studio sounded too good to be true. Believe the reviews. The Yoga Sanctuary studios are absolute gems! Totally welcoming, great decor, and the best instructors in the area. I visited different yoga places in Las Vegas, but once I took classes here I have no interest in ever going to another studio. Plus they offer every style one could ever want to try - hot, flow, ashtanga, anusara and others. Yoga Sanctuary rocks! Pros: best instructors, great decor, make you feel welcome more

Great Vibes ? Beautiful Spaces 2/10/2009

Every time I take a class at Yoga Sanctuary I find myself thinking ""That is exactly what I needed,"" when I didn't even know that I was missing something or in need of something to begin with. Their classes are so liberating and leave you glowing inside and out. The studios are GORGEOUS and the teachers are top notch. They bring a lot of fun and lightness to the practice. If you are looking to get into yoga this is a great place to do it. They are ideal for a beginner or the super yoga master because their classes cover the gamut from easy/relaxing to sweaty/challenging. I've been to a number of places in Vegas that claim to be yoga studios and none compare to Yoga Sanctuary. I definitely recommend YS. Pros: cool atmosphere, friendly vibes from the moment you walk in. great, great instructors more

The Best Yoga Teachers in Las Vegas 1/12/2009

I studied yoga at I believe every fitness club and yoga studio in this city and to me it?s quite simple. Yoga Sanctuary has the best yoga centers with the best instructors, bar none. Every teacher is inspiring and well-trained. Whatever type of yoga you want to practice, you?re sure to find classes here. They do exactly what they set out to do ? give you skillful instructors who teach every imaginable yoga style to all levels. Beginning yoga classes to advanced, gentle to vigorous, there?s something for everybody at their studios. With their package discounts they also make yoga affordable to all in the community no matter your income. Thank God their classrooms are big because their classes are very popular. It?s doesn?t hurt that the studios are also beautiful and serene spaces. They also offer some very cool workshops and guest speakers on the weekends. If you goal is fitness-related or stress reduction, roll out your yoga mat and you'll find the freedom to expand, evolve, and become your best. Pros: Best in every category you can think of. more

Absolutely Adore Yoga Sanctuary 10/11/2008

Oh my god I love this studio. Tried pretty much every yoga studio in this city before I landed here and this is by far my favorite. The teachers are amazing, there is a wide variety of challenging and easier classes, plus there is always a warm, friendly energy. You leave just feeling so much better than when you walked in the door. Great staff and vibe. I always feel connected when I?m at the studio and as a bonus I have made some very dear friends. Another nice bonus is all the class packages you can choose from. Whatever my needs or budget there is something that works for me. Besides the classes, check out their special events and workshops. (I just learned that Seane Corn -- THE FAMOUS YOGA TEACHER SEANE CORN -- is coming in December! Can?t wait!) Would totally recommend Yoga Sanctuary to everyone, in fact, I constantly do! Pros: great combination of yoga and people, good value more

Amazing since Day 1 10/10/2008

My first class at Yoga Sanctuary was almost a year ago. Not only was I new to the studio, but I was totally new to yoga. I had prepared myself to be a little intimidated and overwhelmed, but found the exact opposite even on my first day. The front desk person greeted me warmly which was a delightful start, and Kathryn who led the class was a knowledgeable and a giving teacher -- making me feel comfortable and capable. Every day since has been as great as that first one. I've taken yoga classes with almost all of the teachers -- each brings his/her own perspective to the class, but the common thread is a commitment to create a fun, inviting, and nurturing environment. I love that they have two studio locations so I can go to the center that's most convenient for me on any given day and follow teachers that are my favorites. The studios are also so beautiful. It's like I have a private oasis each time I visit. I feel lucky to have found such a wonderful home for my practice. Try a class -- you won't be disappointed! Pros: Beautiful studios, reasonably priced, friendly staff, great classes more

FEELING STRESSED OUT? GO TO YOGA SANCTUARY 9/20/2008

All the recent economic news was getting me depressed. The whole situation was scaring the h*** out of me! So I called a close girlfriend to vent. She tried to calm me down but I was a mess. She then suggested that I come along with her to a yoga class that night because she thought it might help. I was not eager to go since I never did yoga before, but I felt so desperate that I went. It was a beginner class at the Yoga Sanctuary on Eastern Avenue and the teacher was named Heather. All I want to say is THANK YOU HEATHER AND THANK YOU YOGA SANCTUARY!!!! I could not believe how relaxed I felt by the end of class. The breathing exercises and the yoga stretches really brought me peace of mind. Heather made me feel so welcome and was very reassuring. The studio is also great, beautifully designed with awesome views of the mountains. I signed up for one of their introductory yoga packages (good deal!) and I try to take yoga classes twice a week. I sometimes also take classes at the Yoga Sanctuary studio on the west side. I am definitely coping better and I keep thanking my friend for introducing me to the studio. Pros: Big Thumbs Up! Studios, Instructors, Ambiance ... Highly Recommend! more

New love for Ashtanga! 4/5/2008

I am an artist from New York, & when I am in town I go to Sherry Goldsteins. A few weeks ago I tried an ashtanga class with a teacher named Michelle. I was a little nervous, because I had never done Ashtanga before. However, I was surprisingly put to ease during the first 10 minutes! The instructor was so helpful, knowledgeable, & just so down to earth, that I really enjoyed the class! I have always had a wonderful experience there. I will be visiting soon, all the techers are great, & the schedule is very convenient. more

In Praise of Yoga Sanctuary 2/8/2008

When you?re on the road and away from your local studio, it?s always a treat to find a place where you can do some yoga and maybe even make a few friends. Yoga Sanctuary in Las Vegas is one such place. Truthfully my first visit to Yoga Sanctuary wasn?t to practice yoga, but simply to purchase a candle for my sister at their gift shop. But when I walked into the studio and had a look at their schedule and the space, I started to have a feeling that it might be a place worth trying out. The next day I came for an Ashtanga session and was pleasantly surprised to find a great class led by a very knowledgeable and helpful instructor. His name was Shawn. I noticed he was teaching again later in the week so I returned to take class with him once more. It was rewarding physically and for my soul. After class I chatted with some of the students and they were kind enough to invite me to join them at a nearby Starbucks. The company couldn't have been sweeter or warmer. If you are an out-of-town yogi I urge you to put Yoga Sanctuary on your ""must visit"" list. BTW, the students told me that Yoga Sanctuary just opened a second location in east Las Vegas if you happen to be staying in that part of town. more

Kim Rocks! 12/7/2007

Last spring I found myself in dire need of some spiritual/emotional help, having just been dumped by my boyfriend and then my employer, blind-sided in a span of two weeks, I sought comfort in chocolate and hiding in my house. After a month of wallowing in pity and sorrow, I knew I had to do something. Cons: Sometimes some of the students are not welcoming. They never move their mats to give other space. I do not understand that as it seems to be contrary to what yoga teaches us. more

expensive waste of time 10/11/2007

I'm new to Vegas and I've tried 4 studios. This was by far the most expensive and least pleasant of the group. It's in a terrible location (far northwest) and the people were very unfriendly. I went to the 10:00 Saturday class. I do not recommend it. Cons: expensive, poor location, unpleasant atmosphere more

Head and shoulders above the rest 8/31/2007

After having studied at several other local studios, I finally checked out Goldstein's Yoga Sanctuary. What took me so long! Yoga Sanctuary's classes are head and shoulders above the rest, and so is the studio space. Big, clean, beautiful. You won't want to leave because the atmosphere is so nice. They offer an eclectic mix of styles, including flow, ashtanga, hot, power, gentle, beginner. You DEFINITELY have choices. They also have a great lineup of teachers who were all very friendly. Their instruction was insightful, caring and accomodating to all fitness levels. I highly recommend checking out this space. (This is definitely Las Vegas' best kept yoga secret.) Pros: breathtaking decor, welcoming environment, quality instructors more

Rave Reviews from Someone New to Yoga! 6/23/2007

I'm sorry I didn't find Yoga Sanctuary sooner--it has made such a difference to me. I had been thinking about trying a yoga class for a while but I was a little nervous about my abilities and didn't want to look foolish. My sister and her boyfriend kept telling me to try a beginner class at Yoga Sanctuary. (They both take more advanced classes at the studio and are in unbelievable shape!) One day I finally got up the courage and went to a yoga basics class at Yoga Sanctuary. The teacher Lucrezia assured me that I would be fine and she was right. She's a great instructor and would show how every pose could be varied if the students didn't have the flexibility to do the full pose. I now love my yoga classes and I cannot believe the vast improvement in my physical body and overall well-being. I feel happier, focused, a deep serenity within. To all prospective and new students, I say jump in! Just start with beginner classes. You will be astonished to feel yourself grow exponentially. Like me you will also come to appreciate why Yoga Sanctuary is the most popular yoga studio here. It's exceptional in every way--teachers, location, class choices, environment. The instructors are excellent and will help you stretch your abilities while honoring your limitations. Thank you to Lucrezia, Sharon, Heidi and other instructors at Yoga Sanctuary for sharing your energy and bliss. I am grateful to all of you. Pros: Teachers, studio changed my life! BIG THUMBS UP!!! more

Treat you like family. I'm hooked on this place! 5/14/2007

I love this studio and am very grateful to have found it. Everyone working here is wonderful and treats you like family. The teachers are superb and give you very personalized instruction. The interior is simply beautiful, both in form and substance. My first impression was warm and welcoming. None of that has changed. I can't imagine taking yoga at another place (and I hear the same thing from so many other students here). There's a connection you develop to the teachers here, that frankly, I've failed to find anywhere else. I feel like a different person after each class and I can tell you, I've gone from 0 yoga to yoga 3 times a week and I am hooked. Pros: warm and friendly staff, superb instructors, beautiful classrooms more

Los Angeles Yogi Loves This Place 2/25/2007

I was visiting a cousin in Las Vegas last week and heard that Max Strom was teaching a workshop here on Friday night so I took it. (I was a regular at Max's class when he taught at Sacred Movement in Santa Monica.) Being a yoga snob from L.A. I was prepared to be underwhelmed by this studio, but it was awesome. The studio classroom was bigger than anything I'd seen in L.A. and the atmosphere was very zen. Cool space. There was also a genuine warmth to the place. If I didn't have to return to L.A. I would have come back and taken some classes here. They had flow classes scheduled every day which I love. I also met some of the studio's instructors at Max's workshop and they were extremely friendly. Pros: Extremely spacious/warm atmosphere/good class schedule more
