Sherborn Inn

I have been to The Sherborn Inn many many times and have always had a great experience. The staff could not be more genuine and the food always surpasses my expectations. I would recommend it highly to anyone that wants a country experience - fireplace and all - friendly service and great food! more

General manager and hostess were unaccommodating. Attended a Sunday brunch reception, asked if our party of 3 could be seated in a different area, answer was no way. Both were stressed out and unprofessional - bush league. Food was average at best, forgettable. Friendly wait staff who rolled their eyes when we asked them how they like working for the general manager, what does that tell you? I travel around the country for work and have been in hundreds of restaurants at all price ranges, know the difference between a good restaurant from a bad one. Sherborn Inn is not recommended. I'll never go back, waste of time.... more

BUYER BEWARE!! I hosted a surprise party for my mother's 90th birthday last Saturday and everything leading up to it seemed to be perfect. Except at the event itself - we ordered a buffet that we were told would serve 95 people and we had 70 adults and 4 children. Perhaps 1/4 of the attendees were served a good portion meal and the rest of the 3/4 of guests were served slivers of turkey, beef and salmon or nothing at all. They ran out of everything. It was humiliating for us having guests coming from all over the world. They also messed up the bill and had the audacity to send me an email requesting more money with no apology for running out of food. I went with a buffet because they had very limited plated meal selections. I called and REALLY COMPLAINED to their function manager and the general manager and their response was we fulfilled our contractual obligations. Never once did they admit that they did not guide us in the right direction. Never once did they tell me that we would run out of food - they said it was possible that people would not stick with their menu selections but NEVER did they say you need to order more because you might RUN OUT. In fact, I ordered more salmon. That night they said they gave us another 1/2 prime rib and some pork loin and an extra fish meal and there still wasn't enough food. The Executive Chef said to guests - that's all folks. HOW CRUDE!!! Never at any point did I say I wanted to stay within a $ amount - our only concern was that there would be too many leftovers that would be thrown out as they said the state's health policy was that they could not give you any leftover food. I WOULD NOT PUT THE SHERBORN INN on your list of venues for any sort of event.. Despite the fact that the food for the limited people that had it was very good - the overall bad taste for a special event in your life is not WORTH IT. Thank GOD - MA offers so many other options. A simple apology and a gesture of some sort acknowledging this misstep would have sufficed and been appeasing. Just went here for the first time and after reading those first two horrible reviews felt that it deserved my review because I had an awesome experience there. I ordered the gouda cheese and bacon fondue and it is amazing (just ask for extra bread!) also I got the pesto and tomato pizza which was just as good. It is nice to order different food that I have never tried before and to enjoy it, and not spend a fortune either- quite cheap! Overall, it was great including the service and cute, comfortable inn atmosphere. more

I've been a customer of this restaurant for six years (never stayed at the inn), and I can say that the food is fine and the value is average. For a local lunch, you can do better at C&L Frosty across the street, which is more casual (and you can sit outside there). Unfortunately, the sense of hospitality is lacking. In particular, the owner at times treats guests rudely and without common courtesy. Bottom line, if you're invited to meet someone at the Inn, you'll survive the experience. We recently attended a wedding reception at this delightful inn. Everything was superb. The cocktail hour in the fireplaced room was delightful. The two waitresses were very attentive, always there if yoy needed anything. The appetizers were delicious but we knew we had to save room for dinner. The dinner was without a doubt one of the best I have ever had at wedding reception. The food presentation was of magazine picture quality and absolutely delicious. The same waitresses were serving us in the dining room. This was a small wedding and this reception was one of finest I have ever attended. I would definitely recommend this beautiful inn. more

Very nice restaurant with plenty of room to enjoy your meal. While a wedding was going on in the other room, our dining area was quiet and actually not too crowded for a Friday.
