I went to the Frederick Office 2012 - 2013. The lab people and some of the others are very unprofessional. I chose to use the Rockville office because they are so much better and they are more professional. Initially the doctor and staff was very positive and after wasting a year of your money/time and of listening to and following their instructions/direction they then turn very negative and start talking about your 15% chance of getting pregnant due to your age. They waste your money by doing as many cycles as you will allow doing minimal or no meds. They are not very forthcoming with information when they mess up. For example when they miss your ovulation day and do the procedure too late. I ended up taking my business elsewhere. I am so happy with that decision and truly wish that I would have done it earlier. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Please look at other options. This place is every where but I think that they are only out to get money. I met a stranger at the new place and their story was very similar to mine. Don't trust them. more

Worst medical experience ever 4/26/2012

I went to Shady Grove in 2010 and my husband and we went through all their testing. We were diagnosed as unexplained infertility and were recommended for IUI. After the 3rd failed IUIs, Dr. Kiperstok was pushing us into IVF. We were not impressed with him because he never remembered my husband's named, always had to look at his computer to see how many cycles we did, etc., told us there were no improvements we could do to our lifestyle to help us conceive, and he called me with another person's lab results. We should've left then but we did one more IUI which failed and took the summer off to decide what to do next. We decided to go ahead and do IVF. I had a decent cycle producing 10 eggs that were collected but only 4 were mature which I think was due to Dr. Kiperstok not controlling my medication doses correctly. I feel like I was triggered too early based on a lot of research I did after the fact. One fertilized abnormally which I think was due to the fault of the lab because we weren't given any other explaination other than 2 sperm entered the egg. This seemed odd considering we did ICSI where only one sperm can be inserted into the egg. 2 ended up being fertilized and I was told personally by Dr. Kiperstok that they were of excellent quality. We were also told by the doctor doing the transfer and the embryologist that the embryos were excellent quality. They transfered the 2 but resulted in a failed cycle. On the follow up, Dr. Kiperstok tried to insensitively push donor egg on us with the reason being egg quality. I asked him how this could be considering he told me the embryos were excellent quality. He stumbled for words and fumbled out some words implying that he didn't want to give me bad news during my cycle. He continued to push donor egg as I was unresponsive. He very insensitively started looking up donors that had my physical characteristics and turning the computer screen for me to see. I was in shock at the lack of compassion and lack of regard for our feelings. Needless to say, I am no longer a patient of Shady Grove after that follow up because of Dr. Kiperstok. I requested my medical records and they were conveniently incomplete because there was no information whatsoever on my embryos or an embryologist report. Upon takling to another RE, I was told they need to give my my full records so she can look at everything that was done during my cycle. I'm now in the process of fighting with them over getting my complete records. The whole experience with Shady Grove and Dr. Kiperstok has been a nightmare. more

Terrible experience at Shady Grove 3/19/2012

I have been a patient at Shady Grove since October of 2009 and have had a terrible experience the entire time. After our initial consul I was told my right tube was block my FSH levels were elevated to a 10 (which they may me feel was a horrible thing) and my husband had low morphology. After 2 failed IUI's One miscarriage at 9wks after a fresh IVF and one chemical pregnancy after a FET. I went to my OB desperate and out of money so she tested me for a Bacterial Infection (Ureasplasms) that can go undetected for years and lead or impair fertility well it came out positive so I was treated and went back after my FET to see if I still had it and if it was the result to the chemical pregnancy well I tested positive again and so did my husband we both were treated with two rounds of anti biotic and finally tested negative. My OB seems to think we contracted this 6yrs ago after my son was born and this is why we haven't been able to conceive since. After doing a lot of research I found that 40% of couples in their reproductive age can carry this and in males it has a very negative impact on sperm morphology, TTC, IVF and pregnancy altogether. I just believe it was Shadygroves neglect to NOT test their patients for this prior to any treatment. They misdiagnosed me twice saying my right tube was blocked and my left tube had fluid in it and they believed the fluid is toxic and that is why I miscarried the first time well after my regular OB preformed a LAP (to remove my left tube per shadygroves request) it was found that everything was healthy and my tubes more normal and def not blocked so of course my OB did not remove my tube, although I am relieved I am upset with Shadygrove because I felt they were trying to push IVF on us from the start without looking at other options or finding the underlining reason for our fertility we our 26 and 27 (23 and 24 at the start) and had no issues getting pregnant with our son so why if they are fertility specialist knowing what has negative effects on TTC, IVF and pregnancy wouldn't they test for something as simple as a bacterial infection instead offer IVF from the start? I just felt they were more after the money knowing we were paying out of pocket and not in it to get us pregnant! more

I LOVED the Annapolis office! 8/21/2009

We used Annapolis this March and were very pleased. Our doctor was Kipersztock, and though he wasn't as involved as our nurse, he was great. Really and truly, though, I know if I needed or wanted to talk to Dr. Kipersztock, I could have, but our nurse was our main point of contact. Our nurse, Sarah, was phenomenal. She ALWAYS responded very quickly to anything I needed or asked and even checks back with me --though we are 6 months pregnant!!! When I first called the office, Rhonda the receptionist talked and talked to me...I felt like it must have been a small office for her to have so much time to talk to me. Then when I got there and saw how much larger and busier they were, that just cemented their desire to really answer any questions we had or help us in any way they could. Our miracle is due November 24 and I thank God and the Annapolis office for making that happen. Pros: Quick to answer questions Cons: More interaction with your nurse than doctor more

Not all locations created equal. Avoid Columbia 7/20/2009

Beware. I agree the Rockville staff is much more professional. Avoid Columbia. They do not communicate well. Many awful stories. The office manager yelled at me for not knowing which labs to draw. She immediately apologized before I could say anything. Probably knew she was wrong. Switched nurses because I was told had abnormal labs then she went on vacation without followup. Spent several days on scheduling tests by myself. So far going through but definetely feel like a number often forgotten. Switched to Rockville. Worth the drive. more
