Editorial review from Citysearch 6/15/2012

I have been going to this restaurant for years but i notice that recently its gone all but down hill. The food is rushed and i can see it tastes a lot worse and is under cooked. i have also heard the owner yelling to the workers in a very rude manner and i hate seeing this because i know the workers are trying there best. I also noticed that the type of food served is lower quality and sold at a high price. overall i would not recommend this restaurant to no one not even my worst enemy until they fix these problems i really believe the owner should fix all of these problems soon!! more

Love sitting at the bar because of the staff, food is great and parking is usually available around the corner. more

The food was terrible and overpriced. 4/2/2012

The food was terrible and overpriced. The service was mediocre at best. We waited over five minutes for our drinks with on even a third of the resteraunt full, and the food runners just plopped our food in front of our faces as we were still working on outr appitizers looking at us to them out of the way so they could drop our entrees. Needless to say, will not be going back more

Great staff, drinks and food 11/22/2011

This is my favorite restaurant in Denver. The prices are reasonable, the staff is attentive and the specials are awesome! If you manage to have enough room for dessert (which I rarely do) the desserts are always fresh and delicious. more

Dirty 9/7/2011

Don't look at the table cloths on the patio; you'll find last month's crumbs. Don't look under the sugar on the tables inside; you'll find last summer's flowers mashed in dust. Still angry about being served ham yesterday when I ordered a vegetarian meal. After much discussion more

Delicous Food, Great Service & Atmosphere, Great Prices 7/19/2011

I went to 730 South recently with a few friends and was very impressed. The atmosphere was very ""neighborhood bar & grill"", which imediately made us feel welcome and at home. The staff was super friendly too. We happened to get there during Happy Hour and couldn't believe how inexpensive the drinks and appetizers were! The grilled portabello and the calamari were definitely my favorite. We also ordered the ice cream cookie sandwich - which was bigger than my head and quite possible the most delectible dessert i've ever had. Needless to say, I'll be back for more. more

Great Happy Hour. Tasty Dessert! 7/14/2011

I came in to 730 South with a group of friends for some happy hour. The drinks we ordered were reasonably priced and delicious and the food was fantastic. There were a wide range of options on the menu and our server accommodated my request to eliminate cilantro from our dishes with no problem. We ended up staying for a couple of hours and decided to top the evening off with dessert, which didn't disappoint! I recommend this place for a casual happy hour and found both the staff and the owner to be pleasant and attentive. more

Our New Place 7/14/2011

We came in with a reservation for 6 that (oops!) grew to a party of 11, and the hostess and waitress were COMPLETELY sweet and accomodating! The food was wonderful and reasonably priced and the desserts are TO DIE FOR! In addition to the great service the owner even came and introduced himself and chatted with us for a bit. My boyfriend and I are going back tonight :) more

Disappointing food and service 7/5/2011

For years, I have gone to the Seven 30 South restaurant (aka, Bonnie Brae Bistro) for lunch. Over the past several years, I have noticed a gradual but steady decline in the quality of both food and service. The week before last, I had lunch at the restaurant for the last time. The service we received during lunch was appalling. The waiter for our table was so rude, inattentive, and argumentative, I asked the manager to have someone else wait our table. The manager visited our table after our food was finally delivered to ask us whether the food was properly prepared. I told the manager that I had ordered crisp french fries, but the fries I was served were soggy. To my surprised, the manager asked me whether I wanted crisp fries. I told him I would prefer what I ordered, which were crisp fries. When we were ready for the check, one of the other waiters tossed the check onto our table as he briskly walked by. Upon checking into who owns the restaurant, I discovered that a corporation took ownership about five years ago, which corresponds to the time when I started noticing a drop off in food quality and service. The high quality, small, charming restaurant I once knew has been replaced with mediocre food, indifferent management, and a deplorable wait staff. more

Terrible customer consideration by owner 6/19/2011

I made a reservation a week in advance for my wife's birthday. We had been to the 730 several times before with good outcomes. On the day of our reservation I called again to insure we had a booth reserved. When we got to the restaurant the owner joked that he could of made money if he had sold our reservation, indicating they were busy. His assistant then told him that they had given our table away to someone without a reservation. I assumed it was someone he felt was more important then us. He did not try and make it up to us or try and accommodate us. They seated us in a corner for 2 where it was very crowded and you couldn't even stretch your legs. The construction in this so called new extenstion was so bad that the table and chairs were on 3 legs and the table surface would roll a pencil onto the floor. At the time they never apologized. The waitress and I couldn't understand the ownere's behavior and actions. He never came over to the table until the 2nd time the waitress communicated our dissatisfaction. In the end, the owner came over to comp the meal but never would explain his lack of concern, why he gave our table away and why he wouldn""t accommodate us with something comparible to what we had reserved. It was if he thought that comping us would make up for ruining my wife's birthday. I told him I came to celebrate my wife's birthday and didn't come to save money, otherwise I would of stayed home. I will never return and will always be disgusted with the owner's behavior. The waitress was nice and understanding, the food fair and the owner was pathetic. more

730 South, a Bonnie Brae Gem 2/18/2011

730 South is one of the best kept secrets in Denver. The weekend brunch is great and the variety on the evening menu can't be beat. In this ""neighborhood"" restaurant, everybody knows your name. Larry and his staff are friendly and work hard to ensure everyone has an enjoyable dining experience. We will keep coming back!\r \r Kyle more

Outstanding value, friendly, great food and staff 3/7/2010

730 has great food at reasonable prices in a friendly atmosphere. It is a perfect place to meet for business brainstorming (relaxed, yet professional, and you can hear each other) or with friends. What really sets it apart is the friendly, courteous, expert staff. (They look at the menu as ""just suggestions,"" and will prepare dishes to suit the customer.) They also have awesome deserts! For a fun outing and great food at reasonable prices, I think 730 is impossible to beat. Pros: Good place to meet for business or with friends more

Wonderful Date Night! 1/1/2010

My husband and I went to the neighborhood restaurant 730 South for New Years Eve and had a fantastic experience! We made reservations, which is a good idea because they were packed! When we got there we were greeted by the hostess, she had a table waiting for us so we were seated promptly. Our server was a cute, younger gal who was very attentive without being annoying. I had a lot of questions about the menu and she answered every one of them and was able to switch my side dishes to anything I wanted. The food was incredible. My husband ordered the Prime rib, (which was one of their 8 specials for the night) and said it was perfect! Cooked exactly how he wanted it and had a generous portion of some sort of gratin potatoes that were delicious. I ordered the Bacon wrapped scallops (highly recommend), also cooked perfectly and again I got to choose any side, not just the ones listed with the dish. For dessert, were ordered the featured Peach cobbler a la mode, which was to die for! Definitely homemade and fresh, we got ours with a side of caramel to add to the ice cream. They were really busy with several large parties, but our food still came out in what I thought was pretty fast considering it was so busy. And my husband and I agreed that for what we got, the food was reasonably priced, plus you can print out a coupon from their website. Overall we had a absolutely wonderful night, and we will DEFINITELY be going back! Pros: Great food, Excellent service, overall great time! Cons: Parking lot too small more

Okay Food. Good service 12/7/2009

I went to 730 South on November 29th for brunch with my inlaws and newborn son. The hostess was very friendly and and accomodating to us. By far the best part of the visit. The food was adequate, nothing to write home about. \r \r We'll be back, mainly beacuse of the close proximity to our home and the friendly staff. Pros: Super nice hostess Cons: Nothing special about food more

One of my favorites 11/30/2009

I eat out pretty much every meal. 730 is one of the best places in town. Great service, great food, great happy hour. What more can you ask for? The owner, Larry, is always out talking with the guests and it really makes you feel at home. I can always count on 730, whether I'm on a date or just in for a beer and a burger. When my parents are in town they insist we go for the eggs benedict (no lie..best in town!). I highly recommend it if you like a relaxed atmosphere with a personal touch. Pros: super friendly service, great food Cons: Not a one more

Great Experience!!! 11/30/2009

My husband and I eat at Seven 30 frequently and we love it. We tend to sit in the bar and always have great service. The staff is always friendly and accomadating to my gluten free diet. The staff and owner are very attentive and make us feel at home. Over the weekend our family was in town and we came in for dinner. We sat in the dining room, which we rarely do, and it was a great experience. My father is hard of hearing and our waiter was so patient and exceptionally kind. We had three courses that were nicely timed and delicious. My parents can be quite the resturant connoisseurs having owned a resturant and they too loved it. In fact they wanted to dine there the next morning for brunch, had they not been leaving to go back to New York. Aside from our frequent visits for dinner we also love their happy hour, best in town! Pros: Great prices for quality/quantity, comfortable atmosphere Cons: loud when busy- but understandable more

Birthday Brunch Marred by Rude Hostess 11/28/2009

We tried a Saturday brunch at Seven 30 South to celebrate some family birthdays. The omelettes, eggs benedict, etc. that we ordered were fine--nothing extraordinary, but fine for brunch fare. I personally appreciated that they had a Gluten Free menu. However, in all of our interactions with the hostess, she was terse, sullen, and unprofessional. First, no one was at the hostess podium when we arrived, so a man in the bar area greeted us and started to seat us. The hostess arrived as he was getting our menus, and stood there sullenly without a greeting while he took us to our table. They had arranged a table with eight chairs for our party of seven, four on each side of three tables placed together. This was fine, but as we were getting settled we noticed that one of us would be left hanging out on one end with an empty chair across from them, so we thought it would be better to remove one of the tables and place a chair at the head. I approached the unsmiling hostess and asked her in a friendly manner if that would be ok. She just stood there with a ""why the hell would you want to do that?"" expression. As I tried to explain why, and she just continued to glare. Thankfully, our waitress overheard and knew what I meant. She immediately took care of our request. Next, the hostess helped deliver our plates, but my Gluten Free order came out with a croissant on top of the food. I said that I had ordered Gluten Free, to which she pursed her lips and put the plate back on the tray. My dad started to explain that I would need a new plate since even a crumb would make me sick, and she snapped, ""I understand."" Our waitress came to the table a moment later and did the professional thing: apologized for the mix up and told us a new plate would be out shortly. There were a few more minor interactions in which the hostess continued to act put off and annoyed. That really soured our experience. Even with our nice waitress and the OK brunch fare, I am not eager to return or recommend Seven 30 South. Perhaps if you get a different hostess you'll have a better experience. Pros: Food OK, waitress helpful Cons: Hostess should find another job she enjoys more more

Great Neighborhood Restaurant! 11/24/2009

Seven 30 South is a excellent restaurant! The menu is so diverse I can get something different every time and I have never been disappointed. From daily fish or meat specials, pastas, large salads, sandwiches, burgers, they have it all. The Brunch on Saturday and Sunday is one of the best in town. They also have a great Happy Hour. Brian and Mel are two of the best bartenders around. They are always friendly and helpful to everyone. This place is great for all ages. They accommodate families with small children, people on dates, or just hanging out with friends. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant, it is highly recommended! Pros: Large diverse menu, Accommodating, Friendly Service Cons: Such a great place sometimes it's too busy! more
