Consignment Store...9 mos old Pulitzer dresses for 20? 5/14/2012

The consignment systems are run like Pagalle...lol.. w/ riposte! The 1950s 50/50 mark-up is grand to that era. Or if you have some kind of secret immediracy agenda.. see ThucyDides... lol. Have always owned a business and kno the basic mark-up since the 70s with cost shifting is 1/3 at least for those of us that work. And the maxim of any customer is 40%. That leaves professional business to shift & shrift w/ 60% responsibility & risk. Be happy to find like minded shoppers! more

Don't bother 12/12/2011

Secondi maybe okay for shopping but bad for consigning -- I recently decided to start consigning some of my clothes instead of just donating them to Goodwill or other local charities. After my experience at Secondi, I don't think I will bother anymore. I've taken to Secondi over $1,000 worth of merchandise and received about $60 in sales. I'm most annoyed about a camel JCrew coat - which was worn approximately 7 times -- that they didn't even bother trying to sell, but instead donated to charity. I'm glad my coat went to a worthy cause, but I could have easily sold it on eBay if Secondi wasn't going to bother to do anything with it. I don't plan to go back, either as a consigner or as a customer. more

Amazing Second Hand Store, but Pricy 12/16/2010

I love consignment stores and I love Secondi! It's on Dupont Circle right above Starbucks. The staff is nice and polite and is willing to help in any way. The place has a ""boutique"" feel to it - very high end. The two room set up works great - one side features designer clothing, from Chanel to Burberry and the other side has clothing that is more ""affordable"". Do not expect this place to be cheap - yes, you will get a great deal and yes, you will still pay a lot more than you would pay at any other consignment store. Every time I've gone, I've spent $100+ or more... But then I like to shop on the designer side. What's also great about this place is that the longer the item stays in the store, the less it costs...(3 months maximum). The original price gets marked down 20% and then again 40%. Not bad, but then nothing really stays around at Secondi for that long. If you're in DC, check it out - it's a great little place to visit. more

Say ""Good-Buy"" to Paying Full Price! 6/15/2004

Wow - what a resale store. The name brands are all over the place and the prices can't be beat. I always look forward to a trip (or three) to Secondi when I visit DC. A must-see for any consignment junkie. more
